    Tijuana Bariatrics

Does it concern anyone when surgeons are booking through multiple coordinating companies? How do they all keep track of the surgeons schedule? They're competitors, not coworkers.

    I need Advice!

I agree 14 is too young. Especially when you don't even know what you're in for postop. You know what you've heard or read but that doesn't take the place of real experience.
  3. My PCP is extremely supportive. Him being onboard with my decision was very important to me. He does my blood work. Tracks my weight. He is monitoring my positive progress with my comorbidities. sleep apnea and temperamental heart are going the way of the dodo! Plus Dr. Aceves sent me home with PCP postop follow up needs. If you haven't already found a good PCP then research it with the same fervor used to research a Mx surgeon. Good luck

No. It's nasty. I don't care for the chocolate powder either.
  5. I sent you a PM. With your permission I will keep you in my prayers.

  8. I had surgery with Dr. Aceves in March. My experience was excellent. A great team and great care.
  9. I hope you get your ride soon. I'm sorry I can't help you. Please keep us posted that you're okay.

    My Dr Illan experience!

I'm glad your experience was so great! Happy sleeved life.
  11. POW? The only way I know to define that is prisoners of war. Is there another meaning I don't know about?
  12. Me too. Fat pow? Huh?!?!

    pancakes

Pancakes! Oh how I love them. Alas, they were hard on my stomach preop. I'm afraid to try them postop.
  14. I'm glad you're okay and that you're recovering. I disagree with the "file a lawsuit" mentality. More would be served if you attempted to compel your surgeon and the team to take additional steps going forward to ensure this never happens again. Be an advocate for change and progress. Be apart of the solution.

    Beans and carbs

There are "good" carbs and "bad" carbs. Beans are good source of fiber, Protein, and even potassium. They're a "good" carb. Once your WLS postop diet allows for them of course.

How hard is it not to feel jaded?

I am four months postop and I feel really good to see others excited and empowered by their sleeves. That's how I feel most of the time. I still struggle. I occasionally make bad choices and suffer the consequences. I'm getting better at it. My addiction fights my progress and I fight back. I get frustrated more when people rush into this full of bravado backed by very little research and unrealistic expectations and start with the regrets. I empathize with the regrets because this is an unringable bell but also feel frustration. I get frustrated by the Sleeve Purists who seem to lie in wait, ready to pounce on someone who dared to be human and ate a cookie. I get frustrated by those who ignore the postop diet that is mostly about your body healing. I get frustrated when resuming preop behaviors is a priority to some ASAP. Buuuuuuut. I try and be supportive and helpful. I try and remember that they struggle for, mostly, the same reasons I do. The one I also struggle with that is kind of shallow on my part. It may be jealousy that my road is longer and maybe harder for me.... The people with 50 lbs or less to lose. Exception would be band to sleeve conversions. But that's my hang up. Whew! That was actually cathartic.
  18. My whole digestive zone started cramping. I broke in both goosebumps and sweat simultaneously. There was a powerful and unstoppable evacuation of yuck which had me in the fetal position while sitting on the toilet. It lasted 15 minutes.

    Is the Dumping Syndrome?

It was most of those symptoms. Horrible. Lesson learned for sure!
