    Leave My Food ALONE!

When I was on vaca last week I bought two boxes of Atkins bars, not cheap, so that I'd have Protein handy. I went to grab a meal bar and my box of five was reduced to a single bar. My sister, her bf, and my daughter decided to feast on them. I was po'd! :-(

    Leave My Food ALONE!

I am not alone! Sigh... I knew, when I was typing this rant, I'd be among friends.

I've felt so greedy and guilty for getting frustrated!

CHEWING FOOD AND SPITTING IT OUT!

At least you didn't have to spit it out! Mine used a linguini noodle.

    Aetna says NO coverage

Mx is not for everyone, but it really is a quality option when you research it well.

    Aetna says NO coverage

I did, this past March. I researched Mexico for months, flipping and flopping between surgeons until I found Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. They took excellent care of me. Truly. He is one of the more expensive Mx surgeons. 8750, but your recovery is inpatient for 3-4 days in a full service hospital. Many surgeons in Mx have you recover in a swanky hotel near the hospital and do the follow up care at the hotel. I wanted, and needed, to be a hospital for my recovery.

    Damn Damn Daaaamn!

I've broken up with my cpap and the hubby says my snoring is mostly gone and when it does put in an appearance it's quiet.

    Aetna says NO coverage

I don't know if you are open to Mexico but surgeon costs range from 4k - 10k. All inclusive except airfare.

    Aetna says NO coverage

WLS is excluded from my insurance policy. I withdrew $$ from my 401K and went to Mexico on 3/18/13. So far, so good.
  12. I'd call it progress. :-) Compare your recent decision with past decisions. Be proud and keep "thinking".

    Damn Damn Daaaamn!

I don't think it's wise to advise against sleep studies or imply they're bogus. Knowing and treating sleep apnea in WLS patients can be the difference between a successful surgery and potential complications or even tragedy.

    Damn Damn Daaaamn!

I did a sleep study and was told I had sleep apnea. I had to do a second sleep study so they could put a cpap on my and adjust my levels as needed. Then they issued me my cpap.

    self pay woes

Limitless WLS options on both sides of the border! There is also a cost efficient option in Charlotte, NC. Approx 12k I believe. The surgeon was on here tho, peddling his wares once upon a time.

Check out BeLiteWeight in Las Vegas. They're about 9-10k. They have surgeons in Mx as well as stateside. I didn't use them so I cannot speak to their quality of care. I did go to Mx and was very well taken care of. I chose Dr. Aceves. He's one of the more expensive Mx surgeons, 8750. If you do look into Mx and would like some feedback about my Dr. Aceves/Mexicali experience feel free to reach out. Good luck no matter which direction you go.
  17. To whom it may concern: Surgery is scary. Leaving the country can be scary. Leaving the country to have surgery?Terrifying. Coordinators: We don't need bogus reviews, paid reviews, vague reports of tragedy, and referral kickbacks out there amongst us muddying the waters. We need you to answer our questions... Honestly. We need you to hold our hands in spirit and in person whenever possible. We need you to represent your company and the surgeons who contract through said company with integrity and dignity. If you struggle defining those words or relating to them I suggest a career change. Medical Tourists: We need some solidarity. We are all, or have been, in the same boat. For whatever reason surgery at home isn't happening. We've made the bold decision to reclaim control over our obesity and we've kicked it up a notch. All VST members: We come from all walks of life. Various roads and life experiences have brought us all to this point. WLS. Many of us, if not all if us, have been criticized or teased regarding our weight issues. Many have felt "less than" because we are "more than". Why on earth are we attacking each other? What are we gaining from it? Take a long look in the mirror. Tell yourself you are going to try and be the best *you* that you can be. And then... Live it. Own it. “You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ditto that! What beach did you go to? Ocean or Great Lake?

    Hungry

Sometimes I wonder if its because we have to think and focus so much on our intake. It becomes a dominate thought, which can manifest as "hunger".
