Good luck, girls. Couple of weeks for me. See you there!

    My Head Isn't Keeping Up

Dinora7, that is truly outstanding. A size 6! I wore a size 6X in first grade, does that count?

Jennabelle, if that is you in your profile pic, you look FABULOUS! Dump those clothes.

    My Egd Experience

That is crazy. We have to be put under for the surgery. I'm glad I only had the upper GI test. Every time we are put under general anesthesia, we are at risk for complications, but besides that, I only had to pay $42 for my out if pocket cost for the upper GI. That's easier to swallow! Sorry...pun intended

    Egd Cancelled? Is This Ok?!

They all do an EKG right before surgery. The EGD is something they do to make sure you are a viable candidate for this surgery. There can be many things wrong in the upper digestive tract that would make this surgery inadvisable. Instead of the EGD, they will sometimes do an upper GI or as it is also called, a barium swallow test. All ways to see in your throat, esophagus and stomach.

    Need To Vent

Everyone's story is different. Iggychic went through hell and unfortunately it was removed from the forum so newer posters cannot read it, but she was just being blunt, which a lot of people cannot take. I grew up with no support whatsoever on anything, so in adult life, it made me not care about anyones opinion about anything I did. I feel everyone is entitled to the same. You do what you have to to get through. But... ...going through surgery is a risky business and if there are complications, it would be nice to have a support group to lean on. Best of luck to all who have to go it alone.

    Cardiac Clearence

Right. Nuclear test is a stimulant that puts your heart in stress, as if you were on a treadmill. They usually do it for people who cannot physically do the treadmill.

    Catheters?

I already asked my surgeon...he does not use them. I have had them for prior surgeries and had no issues with it in or being taken out or afterwards. Guess it is subjective.

    Decembersleevers

My son and I will be in December, but still waiting for the date. Our files are just being submitted to insurance so we just have to wait for them to decide.

    Too Heavy For My Knees

Kariwimms, how is your intake? Can you still only eat small amounts? That is important; that is the tool part we use to help us lose the weight. Go back to the shakes and low bad carbs. You can lose the rest of the weight. We're all with you on this journey.

    Sleeve Surgery 11/28/12

Oh, OK, that is very, very common. A good many of us "larger" folks have them from overindulging.

Leak Survivors - A Little Help!

Thank goodness and you all (iggychic, Rawrr, Lila S, jasleeve, and others) and this forum. If it wasn't for your reporting of the unfortunate events you've gone through, we'd all less informed of the possibilities. Ignorance is not always bliss. Thank you.

Carly, that sounds like a good idea, I hope they give me something, too. I love my dachshunds, what is "dual sleeve"?

    New Here Need Advice

Try to stay away from the carbs like pasta. Make pasta a special treat, like once a month or something. White carbs turn to sugar, then to fat, so bad. Take in more protein and stay strong!

Finaly I Did My Gastric Sleeve 17/11/2012

    Continued success to you!
  24. Lucky8, the fizzy stuff for the H-pylori test made me want to cough, but it did not make me feel sick. I have had the Atkins shakes several times and did not get sick. There has been a stomach bug going around so it could be that. The flu can make you throw up but it usually knocks you on your butt, literally. Don't have the shake again and see what happens. Good luck!
