I hear what you are saying and agree with you; however, it is easier said than done. It is not so much of letting other people dictate how you feel or about having low self esteem. I think, in my case, I had to come to terms that I allowed myself to get where I was at and struggled with accepting that I could not do it on my own. So when you are feeling like that and you tell people and if their reaction is not positive-it kind of reaffirms that feeling. So, if you don't want to feel that uncomfortable feeling then you choose not to tell. I recently jumped off the cliff and told my two closest friends (mind you I shared with my husband, mom, and a small select few). I knew there reaction was not going to be one of jumping for joy for me. They are very active in exercise (I use to be active with them: running, cycling, etc.) so naturally their belief is I could have done it the old fashion way. When I told them...they were silent: cricket-cricket. Even though I was prepared for their reaction I was disappointed that they proved me right. They said just that, you could have done it on your own. I told them no, honestly I couldn't and I tried. It felt really good to defend my decision and be okay with their reaction. We are still friends- I have been friends with them a long time and the truth of the matter is I didn't NEED their support--I just wanted it. So I said all that to say, yes you are right in that it is our decision, our right, our body, and our life. Yet, their is a story behind the feelings and it is up to each person to confront them and be okay. Also, keeping it quiet for a little while is not always a bad thing. You keep the negativity at bay while you are focusing on a new healthy "you". Whew...did not mean for this to be so long. I hope this helps others who are struggling with this issue.

Upset Stomach After Eating
TiDubb replied to Readytolose2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just experienced the upset stomach for the first time today. It is definitely no fun. I had to pull over on my way to work as I thought I was going to vomit. Ugh! It seems my Breakfast kicked things off and it has continued through lunch. On a brighter note: I am glad this website exists as this is the first place I came to in order to find out if this was normal or if someone else has experienced it. -

I'm 43 and have no regrets about being sleeved. My surgery was Sept. 10th and I feel great. I am at the 20 loss mark.

AA Sleevers; where are you; what's your status??
TiDubb replied to zoelifechick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I'm Tina and was sleeved on 09/10/12. I feel great now that I have been able to incorporate soft foods. I have started walking and it feels amazing. So happy that I now have energy and no swelling or dizziness that always seem to discourage me to continue to exercise. -

5 Day Post-Op And Hungry
TiDubb replied to SkinnyJeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whew! I feel a lot better. I started drinking decaf hot tea and mixed chicken broth with cream of chicke (this keeps the hunger monster away). Off the pain meds--large incision area is still sore but much better. Yay!! -

5 Day Post-Op And Hungry
TiDubb replied to SkinnyJeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad you posted this. I was sleeved on Sept 10th and I am feeling the exact same way. I continue to drink but the "hunger" pains are gruesome. Now that I no longer have gas pains I can really feel the pain at the largest incision site. It hurts when I get up or turn. I tried to back off the pain meds but I think I am going to have to take some for a little while longer. I HAVE NO REGRETS! -

I am 3 days post-op and fighting serious hunger pains/acid or whatever you call it. Then I have the nerve to sit and watch cooking shows. LOL. My doctor did not tell me anything about Protein shakes just straight liquids (Water, broth, SF Jello, SF popsicles..) For some reason this is not holding. I just want the hunger pains or constant thought of food to stop. Would love to try cream of wheat/pudding/mashed potatoes/anything that will stick.

I took gas x chewable tablets but last night I tried the heating pad suggestion--Worked Wonders! Woo Hoo!! Now that the gas is gone I am feeling the soreness from the large incision. I did not know your body did so many twists and turns when you are trying to get up and down from sittling are laying. I am so happy I found this forum.

Congratulations! I am post-op 3 days out. I feel good just fighting gas pains! Doing lots of walking but still can't get rid of them. I am still excited about my journey.
