sleeved on may 20 having trouble with the protein drinks
tigerbelle replied to csutton22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard others recommend the Gladiator as well...I will have to try them...I am 4 weeks out from surgery--should there be any problem with me drinking them? -
Decaf tea...can you have it after surgery ?
tigerbelle replied to laners777's topic in Food and Nutrition
In my post-op diet program, I could have decaf iced tea, but I just didn't choose it...If I had, like Lynda I would have counted it towards my fluid intake -
Woman's Hospital--Louisiana
tigerbelle replied to JolieBug's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have heard that Dr. Taylor is a good surgeon...and I definitely think the best after-care is at Woman's Hospital -
May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
tigerbelle replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
24 lbs in a week?! wow...I haven't even lost that much, and I am almost 4 weeks out...keep up the good work -
May 2013 Sleevers!
tigerbelle replied to boomarienewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wesc, I hope you get that under control soon...did your dr prescribe a PPI, like Prevacid...that helped me a lot -
I advise you to start reading a bunch of the posts here--especially those that mention pre-op diets and protein shakes...there are lots of them...just spending an hour here will be of great value and informative...this is a very supportive group overall

6weeks out and slow loosing
tigerbelle replied to AngelEyez_OX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
good job, nino...I would be happy with that, too! -
scared nervous and hungryyyy
tigerbelle replied to abba0604's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can only imagine how tough it is...my surgeon had no pre-op diet...but even post-op when I was on liquids for two weeks, I was hungry--truly hungry and not just head hunger...it gets better post-op when you can have soft foods and denser protein...just hang in there--in the long run, this will be a distant memory -
Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery Tuesday May 28th 2013
tigerbelle replied to carolynmichelle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on clear liquids for a week...everybody is different, though...still, I don't think I would try either of those if I had just had the surgery Tuesday -
thanks...this helped me because I was also suffering the dry mouth, like Janice...I am on Prevacid, though, and didn't know dry mouth was a potential side effect
-
I agree with Hathery...it is difficult to compare yourself to others...I have seen some of us with very little pain and soreness post-op and some who were still having soreness a couple of weeks out...hang in there--things should get better rather quickly
-
two things...maybe wearing some casual dresses or skirts...also maybe trying pants that are designed to be more like leggings or "skinny jean" type...with the larger size to accommodate your waist/tummy area, the pant legs may not be as form-fitting on you as they would be on someone with a waist size that more matched the leg size

Starving, has anyone had this problem
tigerbelle replied to emeraldrose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
yes, I was truly hungry, especially when I was on the liquid diet post-op...it did get better when I moved to soft foods...some people say it's not really hunger but the excess acid causing stomach rumblings...are you on a PPI? when I started taking Prevacid my dr had prescribed, it did help--but didn't totally alleviate the hunger...again, it is much better now that I can eat some dense protein....hang in there -
I feel like im eatting toooo much
tigerbelle replied to chinamama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pretty much the same with me...I think this is what they call "undereating" the sleeve, and a lot of the vsg veterans recommend that approach...I just wish the stall in the last week I've had would finally end and I would start losing again -
May 2013 Sleevers!
tigerbelle replied to boomarienewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it does get better once you are able to move on to soft foods...I will be 4 weeks out Monday and am almost ready to start introducing a few more dense foods...definitely not planning on adding any starches (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, corn) though...I have been in a stall for the last week, and it is very discouraging, but here I am getting encouragement to stick with the plan and hang in there -
Week 3 Post Op and not losing?
tigerbelle replied to Kohe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
thanks for the encouragement...I am trying not to get too discouraged...it's been almost a week since I even lost a pound, though...I usually have around 500-600 calories a day, so it is hard to believe I wouldn't be losing weight, even if it were only a pound or two a week -
May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
tigerbelle replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
lala, I feel a little better after reading your post...my first two weeks post-op I lost 20 lbs and was feeling optimistic..since then I have lost only about 2 lbs and nothing in this past week...like ramirelek, I am following the program--just walking so far for exercise..I probably could be getting some more water in daily...but still I am quite discouraged...it helps to know you had a 2-week stall but started losing again -
I also agree with dma and Nancy about the stress of the accident throwing off your hormones

Fear of dating after major weight loss
tigerbelle replied to OnlyDownFromHere's topic in Singles Forum
I think beth, curvy, laura-ven, janice and others made some great posts...I can't add much to what they've already expressed...the things I see as consistently relevant are, first and foremost, the fact that we are changing/growing/morphing as persons continually--both physically and emotionally, and it's irrelevant and counterproductive to worry about whether who we are currently with or hope to be with would have loved us or been attracted to us in a previous iteration of ourselves...another thing is the idea about trusting your instincts and getting to know the person you are dating--you will be able to tell I think whether a person is of high character, moral, shallow, materialistic, etc. once you get to know them--based on what you discover about each other during the dating process, that is how you make your judgment about the type of person your partner is and not using what-ifs--life what if I were this or that or had this or didn't have this to me it all comes down to a trust issue--something a lot of us (including me need to work on)...not only learning how or whom to trust..but also trusting in yourself...and for some of us who believe in a higher power, it is also trusting in that to guide you to the place and the person you need -
the only thing I can think to add is that if the reason he broke up with you has to do with mood swings from this temporary life situation, he isn't the type of partner you want to see you through "thick and thin" and all the crises that life can bring...I realize that doesn't help with the hurt and sadness, but perhaps it can add something to your perspective

I see where most sleevers talk about taking a leak test the day after surgery...my surgeon never ordered such a test for me

May 6 post surgery
tigerbelle replied to capt kirk44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
let me know how that protein powder works...I was telling a friend today that it seems like when I make my goal with water/liquids, I fall short of the protein goal...then when I concentrate on getting proteins in and make improvement, I fall behind with the water/liquids...my goodness -
