  1. I'm just about 3 months out from surgery and my weight loss has been.. Well slower than expected and I go through continual stalls. My weight won't move for over a week even though I'm eating between 800-1k calories per day and at minimum 80g of Protein. I also work out 3-4 times per week. So I'm getting frustrated. I also feel like all I ever eat is meat! By the time I get a few oz of chicken or pork in I'm stuffed, there's no room for veggies or anything else. And because I push to reach my protein (I do drink 2 shakes per day) I feel like that all I eat. So feeling meated out and frustrated with slow weight loss I watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dying the other night and completely want to try juicing now. I would not do a total fast but I'm thinking o maybe replacing one meal a day with a veggie/fruit packed juice. I would add kale And other protein based veggies. Has anyone else tried it? Thoughts?

Craving fruits and veggies... Juicing anyone?

Thank you all for your inputs - I did some more research this weekend and decided to give juicing a chance... I just don't think it's for me. I did make a juice following the 'Mean Green Juice' recipe from the documentary I mentioned (kale, cucumber, lemon, ginger root & green apples) and it is good but wow, took A LOT of veggies, prep time and clean up to get about 20 oz of juice out. I was disappointed to see that one full apple added only about 1 oz to my cup... I didn't buy the most expense juicer out there, but not the cheapest either. And from what I have found you can only keep the juice for about 1-2 days max. So next thing will be to try as butterthebean mentioned and go for the green smoothie experience, I do like that I should be able to add my unflavored Protein in there, and maybe even my liquid Vitamin. That may be too much for my tummy to digest and work with all that once tho but I'll try it out. Either way, I'm excited to try it out!

Ughhh Aunt Flow is here... AGAIN!

I know it's normal for your period to be irregular after surgery but seriously?? I'm just about 8 weeks post op and am on my period for the FOURTH time since surgery! Every two weeks I turn around and there she is again! I was on a normal cycle before surgery, am not on any type of birth control and haven't been for quite some time. The most frustrating part is the weight gain randomness... I finally broke a 3 week stall, past the 50 lbs down mark and then BAM I'm up 2-3 lbs again. FRUSTRATED!

    Sleeve or Lap Band

I went thru the exact same thing that you did. I was interested in Lap Band and went to a seminar that a surgeon was having, in it he discusses the lap band, sleeve and bypass. The more information I had I decided to go with the sleeve. I had a few main reasons, for one I am a self pay patient, even though lap band was cheaper up front, the cost of having to have adjustments for the rest of my life was not appealing. Even more so when I started researching the percentage of lap band patients that have to have a second surgery to either remove or replace the band was scary I believe it was around 15%. I would think even if my insurance covered it I would not be comfortable with the facts. The sleeve seems to be the new standard, for me it also seemed the most natural. To not rearrange my guts (like with bypass) or have some foreign object inside me. Had my sleeve just about two months ago now and I am very happy with my decision, best of luck to you!

    Myfitnesspal Confusion

I agree that I would love to not have the calories from fitness taken out of my daily totals. MFP does allow you to adjust your daily goals but only to a percentage of other things. I would love to just say My Protein goal is this, carb goal is that. But I just got a fitbit so please integrate it with that!

    Why No Caffeine?

I was told caffeine encourages snacking.. But for me I also had pretty bad acid reflux prior to surgery, once I dropped caffeine in my pre-op diet it went away, so did some stomach issues I would have. I've switched to an herbal non-caffeine coffee, still get the energy boost with out all the side effects. Its been difficult, I miss my Starbucks! But it's been worth it.

  11. Hello everyone! I was just sleeved on 10/16 and my doctor doesnt have me starting my Vitamins until I'm in stage 2 of my diet which won't start until after I see him again on 11/1. There's not a whole lot out there by way of bariatric Multivitamins but the main ones I've seen are Opurity and Optisource. I do see that OptiSource is available at Walgreens, which I love that I could just go pick it up but it requires you to take 4 pills a day! Opurity only requires one and all the reviews of it on their website are great, but a quick jump to Amazon shows people saying it's DISGUSTING! My bariatric coordinator mentioned it tasted liked sweettarts, and OptiSource like tang but wanted to get some more thoughts. Thanks =o)

    What Multivitamin Do You Prefer?

I got alot of celebrate samples and it is what my doctor recommends. My bariatric coordinator at the hosptial also told me it's best to stick with the ones designed for bariatric patients because they are made to work and dissolve better with our bodies.. They dont seem to be terribly expensive either and from what I see they are jam packed.. What's your favorite flavor?

    What Multivitamin Do You Prefer?

I've been reading that alot of people like these, and I just checked on what they have and it seems to cover alot of the requirements.. I remember taking them as a kid and actually liked them! This may be a good option as well!

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Hiii Everyone =o)! I've been reading these forums from afar and finally decided to join and start saying Hello. I was Sleeved 10/16 and am feeling better and better every day. Am down 40 lbs since I started my pre-op diet! 15 of that in the 10 days since surgery, I am soo excited to continue this journey and get my skinny on! I have to say I am amazed at how different everyones diets are post surgery. I am on 2 weeks of clear liquids will actually be 2 weeks and a few days because I cant progress until my follow up on 11/1. Been drinking alot of gatorade and propel water with a ton of beneprotein mixed in them to get my protein in and that's really it! I can do broth too but I'm so focused on my protein and ugh that's just nasty adding beneprotein to my broth (its a mental thing). I can do jello as well but eh, just a little burnt out. But I see alot of people are already on pureed foods or were able to do full liquids/purees within a few days of surgery. Feeling a little deprived!! But have to say I'm loving the weight loss and I'm not hungry so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. Good luck to everyone on your journey!

    What Multivitamin Do You Prefer?

I might have to try those out! There is a vitaminshoppe that's about a 30 minute drive but might be worth it if I dont have to order anything, the prices look pretty reasonable as well. Thanks for your responses everyone =o)
  17. Hii all - wanted to say my helllos. I was just sleeved on 10/16/12 and unexpectatedly found myself all in love with an amazing woman this year for the first time. A year of many firsts for me =o) .. We moved in together 2 weeks before my surgery, I know going thru this can be hard on any relationship so I'm hoping we can work thru it, she's been extremely supportive so far. Anyways - I'm already down 40 lbs since my pre-op diet began and I'm super excited to get my skinny girl on .. And to drink again so I can get back out and shake my smaller (but hopefully not too small!) booty =o)! I see this forum is not as active as I was hoping but always looking for friends to talk to, good luck to everyone!
