    Lapband to sleeve weight loss

I know eactly how you feel I kinda wish i would have waited to see if that would have made a difference. I had herniated esophagues and so when I lay down I start coughing pretty bad. I just had to try stuff and see how it goes. I cant do a small meal either only bits and pieces of things here and there. Salad, water, and fruit are my friends. I am turned off by food also so sometimes I will go without eating so I dont feel bad. I dont know if it will get better but I hope so cause sometime I really am hungry and its not head hungry I need to eat something...Hopefully it will get better all I can do is pray about. Best of luck!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I havent been here in awhile but Im glad to see everybody on the losing end of things Surgery 11-26-13 as of 1-7-13 I am down 30 pound almost in wonderland. I havent been feelin to good though. I can do salad, and fruit, and finally can do milk. However anything else I get like this burning feeling in my stomache like I just drank a shot of tequilla and I was just wondering has anybody else had a feeling like this. I am mostly doing water and grapes cause my stomache really doesnt like to much else. I did try chocolate once it was the worst never wanna feel like that again in my life. I know im not gettin in what I need either, but I am still losing. I tried to work out was on the elliptical boy that was the worst at 12 minutes I almost died, I stayed for 22 minutes and had to get off.smh...I dont have energy but its cause im not eating but I cant eat I dont know what I should do does anybody have suggestion cause I am hungry, some days I dont even eat just to avoid the bad feeling from eating. I wonder if it could be because I had a herniated esophagues.. Wishing you guys well regardless kick those pounds ASS ladies and gents!
  3. Hey yall, names B. I had the band for almost 4 years and it was the worst 4 years ever. I couldnt eat any fruit at all and I love fruit. Any kind of meat that was tough or dry a no go not unless you were ready to throw up afterwards. It was never a normal thing to eat because you didnt know how your band was going to react, so I avoided eating out. I had my band removed and done in the same surgery couldnt see being opened up again. The sleeve has by far been the best thing for me and I love it. I had a lot of scar tissue around my band which caused a herniated esophagus which is still healing. I was sleeved on Nov 26th and today is Dec 20th and I have lost a total of 16 pounds. I am supposed to be on liquids for a whole month because of the esophagus but I eat salad but chewed very well and grapes. Anything else is a no go. I am supposed to start pureed food in a week but I dont think Im going to be able to do it, I tried Tuna once and instant throw up it does not sit well with me. I have tried milk and same thing with throwing up just cant do it. I drink a lot of water, and more water and then some more water and I eat ice its soothing I guess because of the hernia. I wish I would have done this in the beginning I had more gas pain with the band then I did with this surgery after the band I was super tired and soar, after this surgery they took me back to the room I would say in about two hours I was up walking probably could have jogged a little bit if I really wanted to...lol...I hope this helps. I am supper excited about the next couple of months. I will start working out next week because I have lost the weight so quickly my body looks fine but my legs really need some work. Wish all you guys well on your journey!!

Bayou your body is probably holding on to whatever it can to compensate Im sure your weight loss will begin once it gets used to something new. I am on liquids for a month and then pureed food after that for two weeks and then soft food for two weeks after and then on to trying regular food. I have tried a shrimp or crab just to chew but have paid for it. I just say stick to your plan it will all get better in the coming time...Keep us informed im sure somebody will have some info for you!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hey everybody things are looking up I am feeling soooooooooo much better. I have had my ups and downs but so far things are going really good. The weight lost is going good. I went into surgery at 233 pounds and then after surgery I was 247(NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT) I am home now and good and happy to say as of yesterday being a week out of surgery I am 232 POUNDS! So from Nov 26th to Dec 3 I have lost 15 pounds so I am happy with that, As from beginning weight of 233 im down to 232 which is only a pound but its not 241 any more. When I see 229 I think Im going to tap dance...lol...I wish everybody well on their journey and continue to chime in....NOVEMBER BABY WE WINNING!!!
  6. Hey yall I had surgery on the 26th of November and have been home three days now only on liquids. I had a really bad herniated esophagus so I will be on liquids for a month. Well for some reason I feel like there is something stuck in my chest like if i could just throw it up I would be okay but its not coming up. I have tried to make myself throw up and that didnt work either. Does anybody have any idea what this could be about and how to get rid of it. Its making me very nervous that this is happening and I need guidance. Please anybody...

    Scared And Need Help

THANK YOU GLORIANN,, THANK YOU DIANA E... You guys are so very sweet I really appreciate your help. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow Im going to see if I can get through the night without being so irritated. So far its good since I got up, I can still feel whatever it is a little but not as much as before. Im going to get some water and sip a little bit and then after that a little tv then back down into a coma. I think my mother being here being a nazi nurse is also scaring the crap out of me too, she makes comments that really get me scared and I really dont want that, I already feel bad and of course the guilt of doing this to my body, I just want her to be a mother and caring instead of being critical and un-supportive. Again thank you ladies nobody will understand like the people who have been there. Thank you!!!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hey guys havent been here in a couple of weeks since moving around trying to leave Afghan to get home. Well I had my surgery on the 26th and it was hell. I went into surgery during the day around 2 but because of so much scare tissue and a herniated esophagus it took about 4 hours. I was so tired and wanted to vomit everything. However, everything went well I think the worst part for me was the drain I was unable to take really deep breaths because of it which caused a lot of pain. I kept my drain up until the day I went home just to be on the safe side. That morning when they took it out, its like all the pain went away I was up walking, taking deep breaths, bending over and everything with no problems. I have to say the other thing I didnt like to much is when I went in for surgery I had gotten down to 233 from 241 now Im up to 245???? I will deal with it. Anyhow things have been kind of crazy a lot of head hunger but I been ignoring it. I mostly eat Popsicle since I have to be on clear liquids for 4 weeks instead of the normal week, it sucks but anything to get better. I havent been able to walk very fast but I been going to walmart and walking around for like an hour just to get some exercise in...lol..Anyhow just wanted to check in hope everybody is doing well...Take care B.

    Excess Skin

Hi yall, I just wanted to know for those of us who need to lose between 60 and 80 pounds. Since you been sleeved(Sleeve coming 26th of this month) and have been losing do you notice a lot of excess skin or not much at all. Im trying to determine on how much lifting and what kind of routin as far as exercise and weight lifting I need to get into. Im 32 soon to be 33 and I think I still have good elasticity in my skin but just kind of wanted to get an idea how you guys are doing with excess skin. Thanks in advance, B.
  10. Hey yall!!! My question is for you ladies and men who had your bands 4 years or more how was your weight loss after your revision. I've had my band for almost 4 years now(REVISON COMING NOV 26th) I stopped getting fills because I was getting stuck and slimmin I havent had a fill in about a year and have gain 18 pounds but I am maintaining because Im not really eating because I still get stuck etc. However, I was not at goal I was 274 with the band got down to 223 but no more weight loss and thats with working out. I dont work out anymore and I am at 239 Im 5'8 with a BMI of 36.3 I dont know Im just not sure of what to expect and just wanted of idea of how well you all did? Im shooting for 170 to 180 wanted to know if thats realistic or not. Thanks in advance B.
  11. Well you are doing it big then Kalipso! I dont blame you about getting the surgery if you know you need it and if you are eating to maintain then I think you went with the right surgery. Im glad you got that horrible band out too. So many people have so many issues with that thing I dont even know why they still have it as an option. However good luck in maintaining your weight and being healthy. B.
  12. Mr. DonnieJ you are working your sleeve sir!!! Wow I cant believe you had your band that long and then 3 years only 70 pounds? I saw your post before about all the issues you had Im so happy that you have found success and are doing AWESOME!! I can only pray to be as sucessful as you guys. Im good about diet and love to work out so hopefully after this surgery and a good routine I will be able to be 175 I weighed that in 6th grade..lol...Thank you for sharing with me I appreciate all the information. Thank you, B.
  13. Thank you so much Amazon your story was very helpful. Im looking to eating fruit, vegetables, meat...lol..without going stone faced and people looking at me like im crazy. I just thought that since our bodies were used to the band that we would see little to no weight loss especially having it for a long period of time like that. However by hearing your story it gives me hope and that I can actually achieve my goal with this surgery. I cant say thank you enough and when I do have surgery I will be sure to send you a message. Thanks again

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

As we all embark on this new journey. IT IS OUR TIME!! I have the upmost respect, hope and appreciation for all of you regardless of being new to WLS or revision. We all know each others sturggle as we have all been there. I want you wish you all blessings and the best along this road although it will be tough for some and not so much for others I will do my best to be a shoulder to all who will need it because Im going to need it. I thought I could do it alone with the lapband but that was not the case. I find it you need to know the struggles and success of others to help you along the way. Its nothing like having family but its more benefical to have somebody that knows what your going through especially in the weight game. All be blessed and happy journey to getting to know the new you... HUGS B.

Have You Had This Happen With Your Band?

Than you guys for replying. Glad that your doing well alriz0204 ready to be in your shoes!!! CowgirlJane I have had my band for three going on 4 years in feb but I wont make 4. I have not had a fill since early 2011. I was 223 but have gained 18 pounds. Man I was hoping it was not a slip but I have been coughing really bad which a read on OH is also a symptom of slip, but It just happened recently in about a week or week and half ago. I didnt know I had to get unfilled before surgery but I guess I will do that with a doc at home instead of going all the way to Houston to do it (not waisting my gas) Thank you for your help I really appreciated and yes this is not normal at all for me usually im okay but things are starting to get stuck more easy, I drink fine, however I have not even had the appetite to eat because any and everything makes me want to throw up, but I have to eat something so thats the only reason I do. Thank you guys so much!!! Grateful B.
  23. Hi YALL!!! Just a few question I am being revised from band to sleeve in November. I have had issues but nothing crazy until as of late. I dont want to eat for one because I usually get stuck so meat especially if its dry is a no go, fruit dont think about it. Most of the time Im eating eggs and drinking milk but havent even been doing that. I now get this kind of gurgling in my band when I eat and I dont know what that is, and depending on how i sit or sleep my band will hurts. I also stopped smoking for the surgery way in advance but now I have like this salt taste in my mouth and the back of my throat and I dont know what that is either. If anybody has any possible answers for any of this please let me know what your experience is or was and what it was attributed too slip, erosin etc. Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from yall!

    My Sleeve Realization

I think we have all felt that okay this is going to be the year, month or week we were going to start. Some of us prevailed and some have failed. I have the band and I thought that it would help me achieve my goals. I played sports in high school and college and know how to work out and eat but despite it all I still gained. I think we all have this idea of how we should be and how we are going to get there and start out but when we dont get the results we start to fall off the wagon. We all need help and most us dont want to admit it but for us its food we think we should be able to control it but we cant and our bodies react by getting bigger, which none of us want to see so we avoid full body pictures or try to stand behind others. I just hope whatever you decide its the right path and that it will work out for the best.

    Is The Band That Bad?

Makemyownluck I hope you refer your mom here or other sites so she can inform herself about the surgery especially the risk. Im sure a lot of us would have never done this to ourselves had we really had the information at access. I thought I knew about the surgery and informed myself. I didnt really get any information about the bad things with the band until awhile ago. I knew my band wasnt working but didnt know why and when I finally went back to do some more research there was an overload of information from real people not doctors studies. I think you should encourage your mom some more and try to give her as much information as possible. There is a graphic photo on here of one lady who was revised to VSG and it showed how bad her stomache was from the sleeve. I couldnt believe it and didnt want to believe that its a possibility that something was happening like that to me. I wish you all the best on your journey and that your mom has a change of heart on being informed...
