    33 Year Old Males Story

Hey M. Will you share?: How are you doing in terms of excess skin? It doesn't really look like it's a problem. Was there anything in particular you did to help mitigate it?
  2. Which vitamins have you tried that you prefer? Hated?
  3. Thighmaster? Maybe lunges and squats?
  4. And there's the key to this whole thing. It's easy - EASY to lose weight for a few months. The hard part is keeping it off. And that's the difference with this surgery. It's not going to be so easy to fall back into your old habits as it has been before. I don't know. I hate to sit here and say go for it. It may not be right for you - only you can make that decision. You, not your family. Not your friends. Support is here when you need it. Have you done the psych evaluation that most insurance companies require?
  5. Foul!!! I see THREE question marks there! Since I've lost about 15# since I started all this pre-op stuff, my wife thinks i don't need it any more. I'm ignoring her. I'm ready. Get me on the table, I might be a blubbering idiot, but for now, I'm good!
  6. I detailed my experience in a topic here at VSTalk. I also published the same exact recount on my blog here: http://johnswlsjourn...experience.html Prepare: You have to fast. Show up with your ID and insurance card and payment. The rest was easy. Dianna is referring to gas from the EGD itself, as they apparently push air into your stomach in order to get a good view (I imagine it's hard to see if everything's all stuck together!). I didn't have any gas issues at all, which is unusual for me!
  7. I once heard of a guy who lost a whole bunch of weight by making one small change in his eating habits. He didn't change WHAT he ate, but HOW: he started eating using chopsticks. Maybe try that?

Advice Needed - Adult Subject Matter!

Star, I think I'm going to have to see a picture of you naked so I can judge for myself. In all seriousness, it seems as though you have a good idea of what you want and that you'll be able to handle it. That said, I have just one piece of advice for you: Just remember that a woman can have sex ANY TIME SHE WANTS IT! If all you want is something casual, you can make it happen TODAY. There is no shortage of ways to meet a man, including dating sites, the local bar... anywhere, really. I would advise AGAINST hooking up with someone at work. If, for some reason, things go sideways, you don't want to be forced to see that person every day. There are many, many sayings on this subject, such as "never lay your meat where you make your bread." There's a reason for that. Because in the long run, most relationships don't last and someone is bound to not feel good about it. Good Luck, and keep us posted here. In other words, let us know when you get some!!

    Relationships After Vsg

My marriage isn't the best, but from what I hear, it's all about communication. Living in the Greater Los Angeles, I listened to the Mark and Brian radio show for many, many years. Mark retired this summer and has started a podcast with his wife of 30 years, Lynda. The podcast is based around family and marriage. Give it a listen. http://www.markandlynda.us/ Good Luck!!

    Clothing & Emotions

I think the ladies have the clothes covered. I was going to say Good Will or basically anything second hand. Good luck on that! As for exercise, I'm by no means an expert, but I tend to believe in old-school. Just try to do normal stuff like walking or other similar cardio, then pick up a cheap set of weights and do the basics: bench press, etc. I want to do P90X myself, because it's essentially all old school: push ups, pull ups, etc. No special equipment needed. Do what you can, and your weight and strength will meet somewhere in the middle and you can transition from a bench press to a push up. That's going to be my approach. I don't think I've ever done a proper push-up in my life. I never had the upper body strength. I'm stronger now, but not as much as I can push my own weight yet.
  14. Second on Mio. The only one I've tried I didn't care for was Tangerine. Fruit punch is probably my favorite. Sam's Club sells a 3-pack, but most grocery/retail outlets have it. Made by Kraft, so good distribution.
  15. I didn't know they had Internet access in Heaven?!?
  16. I want to be original here. Too far to say, "YUMMY!" Well done!

Why Do I Hate The Word "hubby" So Much?

Now, there's a girl who understands men!
  21. First and foremost, I'd recommend seeing your PCP about this. Having said that, here's my $0.02: I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes around 3 years ago. The threshold for that is fasting Blood Glucose (BG) >150 twice. When I was diagnosed, he confirmed one or two things that were happening. The one I remember most as that high BG makes you really thirsty. So, that's one thing to be aware of. I've not heard of crashing in the middle of the night. One course of treatment is related to liver function; the liver secretes something (sugar?) that sustains your BG levels over night as you sleep. That treatment slows that liver secretion process. I forget the medicine... it made me sick and didn't stay on it for long. My point is, if Diabetes is your issue, it seems unlikely that your BG would crash in your sleep. For me, I actually found myself battling to keep my BG high enough; I would easily crash between Breakfast and lunch if I didn't get a good enough breakfast. The result was feeling very jittery. I'm not sure if what I describe as jittery is the same as what you describe as palpitations. The times I test, to give me the best, most realistic results are fasting/before breakfast, and 2 hours after starting a meal. If you start eating at 7:00 AM, regarless of when you finish, test at 9:00 AM. That will give you a good indication of how your body is handling the sugars. I found that, not avoiding carbs, but rather try to focus on "good carbs" such as fresh fruits, rather than breads and pastas helped. Soon, you'll be in your pre-op liquid diet, and sugar will not likely be an issue fore you at that point.
  22. HappyFam, I think what others have said will serve you best at this point; her objections are noted, but you have made the decision and only seek her support. The results - the success and your well being - will be the proof in the end. Though too late for HappyFam, others can take this manly advice: it's easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission. I had no doubts my mom would be supportive, but I thought my mother-in-law would poo-poo the very idea. Over dinner on Saturday it came up, and she too thought it was a good step to take. Just lucky, I guess!

Why Do I Hate The Word "hubby" So Much?

First you set out to irritate everyone, then you just want to outright hijack the thread?? Sheesh! When I think of the word moist, I can think of only one, delicious thing: cake! LOL. Nothing better than a hot, moist, ready to be eaten pundcake!
