Who else is waiting on approval?
ArcusX replied to jamari's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was submitted last week, but they omitted my PCP's medical clearance because what they got from him wasn't what they needed. Cigna batted it right back for that very reason, per the coordinator. It took a little coordination on my part and a couple of days, but I finally got the two offices in sync and it got FULLY submitted yesterday (12/19). -
I agree with icon23. I've set my own goal at this point. I too am pre-op, and though I met with my surgeon on the initial consult, I failed to discuss a goal with him. Now that I'm submitted for insurance approval, I plan to discuss this with him when we meet again.

My neighbor is 3 years out, and he told me he LIVED on Isopure's RTD: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/controller?N=4294967239&Ntk=SiteSearch&Ntt=isopure&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&cm_sp=keywordSearch-_-Form-_-Drinks -
I did vanilla, Dutch chocolate and banana. All good. Tried the pineapple, Orange Banana and I don't care for it at all.

Take it all day long!!!

I recently tried Unjury. Eck!!! I like Isopure. I hear the bottled (ready to drink) is good too.

You might try the truth. Echoing others, you know the answer. You just need the courage to do what you know to be the right move.

Today I called the insurance company...
ArcusX replied to ReduceReuseRecycle-Me!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, the good news is you are approved. As for your surgeon's office's neglect to notify you... who knows?? I was at my Nut visit last week, and I could hear the office staff going on and on about how they had spent the whole day trying to get PPO patients who's out of pocket was resetting on New Years scheduled for surgery in December. Whether you are or are not in this category, that is one possible explanation. Either you're PPO and they don't even want to deal with you, or you're not and they're too busy with the PPO people. -
No hunger in the beginning?

This, for me, is the lure of WLS. My neighbor, who had VSG around three years ago, told me that he had to remember to eat. -
NIce post, Jen. I coudn't find anything at mycigna.com. I called Cigna just a day or two before my first consult and was told that my policy did not cover, but when I went for my consult, I was told that it does. I'm going with the doctor's office, because they're not going to do it if they won't get paid. I just finished all my pre-op stuff, and was told they are submitting for approval today.

I got the news yesterday that my gallbladder ultrasound found at least one gallstone. The news was delivered by my PCP and he had indicated that without "gallbladder attacks," it's probably not a big deal. I happened to have my Nut#3 the same day, yesterday, and when I inquired, she said that the doctor would remove the gallbladder. It sounded like an automatic "gallstones = removal." I'm thinking the logic is the risk of needing a second surgery (second anesthesia, etc.) outweighs the risk of the preemptive strike of removing the gallbladder. I had found another post about removal AFTER having had WLS, but I was curious to get some feedback who are in the same boat as me: doctor took it out DURING your VSG. What were your experiences?

How Long After Surgery Can Someone Eat Hotdogs
ArcusX replied to drelex210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first thought was, "why would you want to eat hot dogs?" before I saw the free part. Like Crazy Geno, I'd skip 'em. Free isn't a good enough reason. Brats might be a little different story, but that would be a rare exception -
Gallbladder Removal During Vsg

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for everyone's input. Though I have never had issues to date, it seems like a prudent move. This brings to mind a saying in supply chain, relative to volume forecasting: past performance is not an indicator of future volume. That seems to apply here. -
Stretch Marks Please Help

I found this on Amazon the other day searching for "firming lotion." I saved it to my wish list, but haven't tried it yet: http://www.amazon.com/Urban-Skintrition-Stretch-Collagen-Repairing/dp/B002LHG9HI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=U7ETVXH58S2K&coliid=I1X1D0ZR1QXO03 Seems to have positive reviews. -

What To Order At Restaurants, Business Trips
ArcusX replied to 39m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful; asian food tends to have sugar added as part of the recipe. -
Seems unheard of for insurance to get you approved so quickly. Read that: without requiring 3-6 months of nutrition and/or a longer history of comorbidities. Good luck to you on your surgery.

Gallbladder Removal During Vsg
ArcusX replied to ArcusX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's terrible. There should be some recourse for that. Maybe I should use a sharpie on my stomach and write: "Sleeve - not RnY... and don't forget the gallbladder" on the day of surgery!! I've seen several TV dramas where a doctor was getting a leg amputated and they wrote, "not this one, idiot!" on the good leg! -
Cleared For Surgery.... Got Excited For A Minute There!
ArcusX replied to ArcusX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, I'd imagine the reports getting completed maybe today (PCP + Nut) and getting submitted maybe by the end of the week. I guess all in all, I'm right on schedule. I've always figured on surgery some time in January. -
Cleared For Surgery.... Got Excited For A Minute There!
ArcusX posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yesterday, I had both my appointment with PCP for final medical clearance and Nut#3. I was told that after both reports were recorded, they would be submitting to insurance. So, I started thinking: if insurance comes back in a week (which I understand is typical), it's possible - just possible - I could have this thing done here in December. On one hand, I'd like to enjoy Christmas and New Years without restriction, but on the other hand, I'm ready - let's get this thing going! Then as I was waiting in the lobby of my bariatric surgeon for my Nut appointment, I could overhear the nurses talking about how they've spent all day trying to squeeze in PPO patients that want to get in before their out-of-pocket tallies reset. While I have PPO, I was told by insurance that my out of pocket resets with the plan-year, which is in June, so I'm good. Of course, that didn't stop me from having a little fun... When I got done with Nut, I went out and said, "I'm clear, and I'm on PPO... when can we get this done?!" The coordinator about went cross-eyed! It was funny. I let her off the hook pretty quickly, and we had a good laugh. -
Sil - I can't tell if you're a man or a woman. If you're a man - just Bic that dome! (see below). Woman - gee, I feel for ya! Is a wig an option? Donny - as a guy who started balding in my early to mid 20's, I started with buzzing my hair down to a #2 or #4 clipper, then about 2 years ago - inspired by a coworker - I went all in and started shaving it off. I wish I'd done it sooner. The whiteness contrast will go away in a week or two. Starting in winter, you will notice a significant temperature difference; I was amazed the difference between bald and #2... crazy! The cold isn't an issue now. Bic that dome! Own it!! See my recommendations (Reco-Man-Dation) here.
