  1. It's pretty standard. Shame on your doctor's office for not knowing. I'd consider another surgeon. IMO, there should be no oversights this basic.

    Absolutely depressed

I'm not sure a 75# weight loss is anything to be depressed about. Just keep doing what you're doing... it'll break sooner or later. Good luck!

    Broke Stall!

    good job!
  4. Good to see you are all doing well! I hear it gets better each and every day!
  5. Couldn't they have put that on hold for a month?
  6. Some of my favorite books I've ready this year: 11/22/63 by Stephen King (best book I've ever read, and not horror like you might think from SK. On sale too!) The Four Horsemen by Ben Sussman Calico Joe: A Noel by John Grisham Gone Girl: A Novel by Gillian Flynn
  7. Let me know how this works... I might do the same
  8. First off, contrats to Frank. Your story is inspirational, and thank you for posting. I for one, appreciate that not every story here has had a happy ending. I don't want to go into this with rose colored classes, only to be blind-sided should something go haywire. I ready "i's" story before it was pulled down. Her experience is a real possibility to anyone considering WLS. I like to think, however, her experience is the exception, and not the rule. And if I recall correctly, she has ultimately lost the excess weight and is happier with herself now, despite the rocky start. My reading here has been informative - including hearing some down-sides of all this, and I like to think I contribute a little here and there, though my direct experience is limited. In that regard, I have seen postings of people who are scared and either cancelled or were contemplating cancelling their surgery. I for one, hesitate to come to support those folks, telling them things like "it will be alright." It might not be. I specifically recall a thread where someone was terribly nervous about their psych eval. I very gently suggested that they should be only truthful in their psych eval, because frankly, the way they were talking (typing?), I didn't think the surgery was right for them. There MUST be a reason for the psych eval... right? My point is, I don't think I've seen much bashing & negativity here, and "negative experiences" are not the same as being negative toward others on this forum. I truly appreciate ALL of the information I get here, and it's up to me how to disseminate it for myself.
  9. While I'm still pre-op, pending insurance approval, I started pondering making a reward-based goal. Like something I might buy myself when I hit 199# or something similar. What is or was yours? When you earned it, what was it like?

NSV that Ladies My Age can probably understand

So, why DIDN'T you kiss him?

    ____ years old and never...

You know? Come to think of it, I've never been waxed "down there" either...

    Affair

Here's a quip for entertainment value: One funny quote a friend had told me long ago that really sticks with me - probably because it was so unexpected as he said it: "Had a fight with my wife last night. Got pretty heated, but we worked it out. Then we worked it back in!" Now that's what I think of every time I hear or read about "working it out."
  13. Geez, girl... you're going to need a stick to beat the men back! Congrats!

    Best exercise for busy mom?

Good golly... 6 kids?!?! You're nuts! lol I think I'd skip the cellercizer. It just looks gimmicky. Most important is to go with a plan you will stick to. Unless you live in a really hilly area, or the weather is really extreme one way or the other, you probably could forego buying something, and just get outside an walk, run or bike. You can probably get most of the kids in on this too. "We all go for a walk after dinner." Something like that. That's actually what I'm trying to get into. My kids are 7 & 9 and we've got a young Labrador. Trying to get us all walking daily some time between when I get home and after dinner.

    Vitamix

I watched a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead," where the guy goes on a 100% liquid diet for 30 days. I think he juiced everything. He gets into the cost at the end. Gets a little spendy...

    NEW YEAR's Resolutions!

I want to take more photos - especially of my kids. I also need to get both me and them OUT more. Outside!!!

    Clear liquid ideas

I posted this elsewhere just today: my neighbor, sleeved 3 years ago, said he lived on Isopure RTD (as mentioned above) and instant Miso Soup. Miso is soy based, so you get some protein there.

    My S(sleeve)-Day Story....

Hi Dana, Good to hear you're doing well, and thanks for the play by play recap. Well done! Curious: I was under the impression that caffeine isn't good for your stomach, and so I'd have to lay off for a while. Are you drinking decaf? I'm guessing not by the "drinking it black / I'm desperate" comment. I love coffee, but it tends to not love me sometimes. Of course, I don't take it black. Been using splenda with some creamer lately, so better than sugar!

    Clear liquid ideas

My neighbor said he lived on Isopure RTD and Miso Soup. Miso is soy-based, so there's protein there. I went looking for it yesterday at the local grocery store where he said he got some instant packets, but didn't find it. I'll be on the hunt, because I like it.

    stomach flu

That would suck! How far out are you? Assume this is post-op...
  21. Yesterday, I received an email from my surgeon's office that they had created a login for me for their web site. I requested it online a couple weeks ago and had forgotten about it. Once I logged in, I found a tidbit under the Pre-Op Info page that I hadn't seen before: You should begin taking two showers daily with an antibacterial soap for a few days prior to the operation. This will decrease the chance of an infection. We can provide you with Lever 2000 soap. Another excellent antibacterial soap is Hibiclens. It can be purchased at drug stores in four-ounce bottles. If not to ask if any of you had heard of anything like this, I wanted to at least share it. Conceptually, I'm not sure how much it would actually help, but it certainly can't hurt!
