Just wanted to say HI! I am new to this group, I was sleeved on Sept 26th and am loving this new lifestyle !!
-
Hi, I was sleeved in Tijuana,MX by Dr Cabrerra and had a wonderful time coming & going. No complications etc. The Dr & his team were great. I went through Medical Tourism, contacted them on Sept 5th & had my surgery on Sept 26th. Best decision I ever made. They had a special on for $4500- , I had to pay extra due to a high BMI, an extra $1000- to have a second Dr assisting with the surgery but it was all well worth it to me

Wow! A Grandparents Group For Sleevers
Cinders replied to walesmary's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have 4 beautiful grandchildren & I too want to see them grow & to be able to play with them without having to "take a break" every 5 minutes cause I am winded LOL! They range in age from 14 year old twin girls , 7 year old girl & the baby boy who is now 4. Lots of energy in these kids & I want to be a part of their lives & not from the sidelines -
Me & My Sleeve Are Goin On A Road Trip !
Cinders replied to Cinders's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Back again ! The trip was amazing saw a lot of new country & had a great time. I made good use of the foods I took along but not sure why, I only lost a pound while away. I did but some beef jerky & I am thinking that with all the sitting/driving I am salt sensitive so back to more healthy non-processed foods at home That seems to have done the trick as I am down 6lbs since I got back !! Woohoo, into the teens, can't wait to get under 300!! Life is beautiful !!! -
Well, tomorrow at 4AM, my sleeve and I are driving from west coast Canada to Missiouri. I have asked on the NUT forum about food ideas or travelling & I think I am set. I have shakes, cheese strings, hard boiled eggs, LF ham & turkey, US applesauce, LF greek yogurt and lots of water. My cooler will be well stocked LOL!! SO I will be away from the forum for a week & will miss checking in to see how everyone is doing, I won't be using the app, as I will be data/roaming and just not gonna incur those nasty costs while travelling LOL!! Hope everyone has an amazing week !!!

Dr Ismael Cabrera Garcia
Cinders replied to Jane Doe's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my surgery done by Dr Cabrera through Medical Tourism. My surgery went smoothly, the Dr & staff at Hospital Nova were very warm & friendly & I would easily recommend him for this procedure !According to MT he has done 2500 of these surgeries and I felt confident the whole time I was there. He came & introduced himself and answered my questions prior to surgery. -
Congrats Deb on getting your sleeve !! Sounds like it was a very good experiance

That is one of my problems too, I am a speed-eater !! I am trying lots of things, they said to not do anything while you are eating but if I don't watch tv, or read, I start speeding up again so I need some sort of distraction. I live alone so I don't generally have any dinner conversations going on.

1 Month Out And I Stalled Already?
Cinders replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed in the past that when I hit the stalls (on other diets) it is usually then that by body was adjusting to the loss ithad already had & during that time I was losing inches. Have you tracked your inches, I like to do that & when a stall happens I would check them and found that this was what was happening to me. Don't get discouraged, you will start losing again. -
Don't back out & don't stress. You will be done before you know it & will be on your way to a new healthier you !Everyone gets nervous before surgery, thats only natural, you will be fine

I was sleeved in TJ in Sept and felt very confident & safe in the hospital & hotel. I was sleeved by Dr Cabrera and my friend who travelled with me was allowed to stay in the hospital with me. I have a friend who as sleeved earlier this year & her travelling companion had to go back to the hotel for the night by himself. Might want to check on whether she will be staying with you if you have an overnight stay in hospital.

Cinders replied to kyllfalcon's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Fabulous !! I can't wait -
Next Wed, I will be driving from British Columbia , Canada down to Missouri. I plan on taking a large cooler as I need to take most/all of my food with me. I will be at the 3 week mark post-op that day. I figured on taking canned tuna, chicken, all portioned out, egg salad, protien drinks water of course. Any suggestions on what else I can pack for eating on the road? I so far, have had no issues with any food with the exception of a piece of lettuce from a caesar salad . Thanks in advance for your help

What's Unique About Being A 50S Sleever?
Cinders replied to EileenFrances's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can so relate to things y'all are saying ! I want to be healthier, at the moment I have high BP, but nothing else. I know that at 355lbs (my highest was 376) I will not be able to tempt fate forever. I suffered the loss of my hubby in May this year and I am now going to recreate my "future" and want to be healthy as I go through discovering who I am now that I am no longer "we". Figuring out what "I" like to do, spending time with my 4 grandchildren and trying to move forward will only get better as the weight comes off. Shopping? Might like it, I am just used to going in & trying to find some more black clothes that fit. Very basic wardrobe LOL I might just like shopping now :)I already had both my knees replaced, one at 46 and the other at 51. Really want those to last as long as possible !!So yes, health is a big reason and if people think I look good at the same time, well then that would just be a bonus side effect -
Hello I M 56 No Sleeve Yet Still Deciding
Cinders replied to insanejane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went off my pain meds the day after surgery. I just didn't have any pain. I had a little discomfort from the drain tube thingy , but that was more like a pressure feeling. I also didn't suffer from the gas pains so many talk about, I bought 2 packs of Gas X strips but didn't need them. Not everyone has the same after effects and as I have been through 2 full knee replacements, had my gall bladder out, had a missed gallstone removed from my liver duct a few years after that, bunion surgery (now THAT hurt!!) and a few other minor things, I was pretty aware of what my pain tolerance was and how I reacted to anesthesia. Have you had any other procedures to think about how you felt after? -
Road Trip, Need Some Take Along Food Ideas !
Cinders replied to Cinders's topic in Food and Nutrition
Thank you for the suggestions ! I will definately be able to stock my cooler with good choices to keep me on track & not hungry. I will buy fruits & veggies across the line. I will check my list for which ones I can eat at this stage, if I buy something I can't tolerate yet, my dogs will benefit from it LOL! They are born & raised on RAW so nothing will go to waste -
Do You Find That Some People Find It Odd That You Would Do This So Late In Life?
Cinders replied to smartypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks Gail. I need to be healthier to be able to take care of myself, my dogs & my property. I live rural, on 5 acres and there are chores etc. that go along with this lifestyle. I also want to enjoy my grandbabies and enjoy my time with them watching them grow up & discover this beautiful world we live in -
Sometimes its harder for the first week or 2 but you will get through this & you will feel better :)Just keep sipping your Water all day, dehydration is not a good thing ! How is your food intake?

Do You Find That Some People Find It Odd That You Would Do This So Late In Life?
Cinders replied to smartypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I am new to the group. I haven't had that kind of question yet. I lost my hubby of 27 years a few months ago and as I am now finding out who "I" am instead of "we" . I heard about this surgery & bamm, I knew that this was for me. I am 53 with high blood pressure and like most have been on every diet & gimmick under the sun. I contacted Medical Tourism on Sept 5/12 and I was sleeved on 9/26/12 and am down 29lbs now. I feel great. I only told a few close freinds prior to going and then shared with family once I got back. Didn't want anyone worrying or thinking I had "gone off the deep end" for going to TJ for surgery LOL!. Now that I have told them, they of course scolded me for not letting them know where I went but have been super supportive! I will be returning to my job at the end of the month so I will have to figure out whether to tell or not tell my staff LOL!!
