    February Sleevers

Monday is my big day. I report in at 6am, surgery at 7:30, I pray this is the right decision for me. I started at 316ish and am now 294, I'd love to reach 290 by Monday but that's not going to happen. If anyone is bored Monday, I'd love some prayers, good vibes, air high fives or anything else you can do for a successful surgery.

    7 months!

Thanks for posting, you look amazing. I came on the thread today to read things like your post. It almost screams at me. I am having surgery Monday and am second guessing myself. Starting weight was 315, currently 297 and hope to be 294 on Monday. It's awesome to see your stats and know its possible. Thank you for sharing.
  3. I still have to read about 10 pages but my surgeon and a few others I've heard of do not require the swallow test. They will only test if they have reason to believe their is a leak.

Cozy- do you know which MTF you researched? I have chose to have the sleeve at Keesler AFB. They are a great hospital and the surgeon is awesome. He is a general surgeon/ bariatic and performs the sleeve quite a bit. I had a friend sleeved by the same surgeon in December. In my first few appointments I asked about success rates and their stats. He was very honest that they have no plan to become a center of excellence at this time. They wanted to insure they were performing a good surgery to qualified candidates. The quality vs quantity thought process. As my date gets closer I am wondering if I made the right choice. I know their can be complications at any center. Everyone I know who has had it at my MTF loved the doctors and have had a great experience. I also live less than a mile from the hospital, and in the same neighborhood as my surgeon. ( incase their is a problem, he assured me he could be there just as fast as I can be). I guess my concerns at this point is that they don't do a leak test, I'm sure I could ask for one. He said they have a few different ways they check during surgery. They said if they think there is a problem they can have it. My understanding is that they don't want to put their patients through unneeded steps. They also did a stack of lab work but won't require an EKG. They said I am young and healthy. Nothing in my blood work and other labs suggest an issue. At this point I don't know if I have valid concerns or if its cold feet. My surgery is Monday.
  5. I am close to 5'6 and have a goal of 170. My ultimate would be 160. I did Atkins years ago and 170 is where I looked great. I never made it lower.
  6. Great letter, towards the top the company name is still mentioned. I wanted to make you aware so you can edit if you chose to.

    No Pre-op diet

Hang tight, after day 3 the rest was a breeze.
  8. I was more comfortable with the sleeve procedure than Bypass. I did not want anything to be moved around and to deal with a lot of the issues bypass has. When I met one on one with my surgeon he said there was no reason for me to have the bypass. Typically bypass is recommended for obese patients with other medical conditions. I am very lucky and I am just fat, no other issues. He said the sleeve will help take the weight off for myself the same as bypass. He also let me know the sleeve will work for 2 years. Anything after that will be my own will power. <--- that is the reason I went with him. 100% honest about it.

    February Sleevers

After about the third or fourth day on the pre-op diet, I no longer cared about eating. Make sure to get enough protein and you will be good.

    February Sleevers

I am also February 4th. I've been on the pre-op diet since January 1st. I was suppose to go in on January 14th but I came down with a bad ear infection 2 nights before. I've given myself some room on the pre-op diet the last few days and I feel horrible. Tomorrow I will elect to go back 100%.

Tricare does not cover the sleeve. Certain MTF will do them so that's the only way to be covered for the sleeve. If you go to a MTF it doesn't go through tricare.

    Military Spouse

My am a military spouse but I will be having the sleeve at Keesler AFB.
  14. Looks like I will have some catching up to do. I was originally scheduled for my sleeve on Jan 14th but I came down with a pretty bad ear infection the day before. I met with my surgeon today and my new date is Feb 4th. I've decided to stay on the pre-op diet until then. So far I am down 18 pounds from my highest and 12 pounds from the start of my pre-op. it will be roughly 33 days of pre-op dieting. So far is hasn't been bad, it's becoming second nature and I no longer deal with head hunger. The first 4 days was the worst part. I look forward to getting to know all the fellow Feb sleevers.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I met with my surgeon today and my date was moved to Feb 4th. He seemed bummed that we had to push it back two more weeks but I am okay with that. I will have a 36 day pre-op diet. I am also thankful my ear infection came before surgery and not the day of ( my date was Jan 14) I guess I will be joining the feb thread soon. Blessings to everyone and congratulations on your sleeves.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

So bummed, my cold got worse around 1 am. I had to go to the ER, ended up with a nasty ear infection. They said the drum is close to bursting ( nice). They gave me 4 different medications to start taking. Looks like I will be canceling my surgery for Monday.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

My report time is 6am Monday morning, I will be yes first one of the day. Now for the sad part, I came down with a sore throat and my ears are plugged. I know deep down I will need to cancel my surgery but I am holding out hope things will be better by Sunday. I never thought a cold would keep me de surgery.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I had my final appointments today. I call tonight to see when I need to go in on Monday. Everyone was super nice and it helped but me at ease. I am nervous to say the least. Good news is the overnight rooms have wifi. Yay, I won't be alone when I have my phone/kindle/laptop.

    F ing starveing

It gets way easier. I am on day 10 ( surgery is Monday) and I don't feel like eating. The last few days I've had to force myself to drink a shake to get to the 60grams of protein. Hang in there.
