I would have been very upset if my surgeon didnt know what size band he put in me!! I do know of some (mostly men) all different sizes that have the larger band. One man in my group had the small band put in, when they had him drink some Water in recovery, it wouldnt go through, they brought him in and had an upper GI, brought him right back into surgery and replaced the small band with the larger band...I think it depends on the shape of your stomach. One thing that aggravates me at my Dr's office is when I see someone new, like the nurse practicioner, and they ask, so which surgery did you have, for God's sake, you would think that they would look at your chart before they come in the room!! My daughters cheerleading squad has made the American Youth Football league national competition in Tucson next week(they are really the Bad News Bears of cheerleaders). I have never been to AZ and I am really looking forward to this short (dec 7 - 11) little trip. I love casinos and I noticed there is one in Tucson, anyone here know how it is? Thanks, Patty

My Dr says forever, but who knows? How long have they actualy been around, 15 years or so?

I have had hair loss every time I have lost alot of my weight. I had my surgery in Feb and I noticed alot of hair loss at 4-5 months out. Then it evened out for a couple of months, but it is coming out again. And the new hairs that are coming in stand straight up, LOL!! I try to get in enough protein, but I probably dont everyday. Patty

I started having hair loss after a couple of months. When my weight loss plateaued (six months out) my hair stopped falling out. Now that I am losing again, it is falling out some....I have really thick hair and I am not worried about it... My Dr said I probably wasnt getting enough protien, so who knows... Patty

I think my band may be too tight right now, but I am losing, so I'm not going to mess with it. I have a slim-fast optima in the am, it fills me up for a couple of hours, then I have a coffee (i am a decaf drinker, i do put cream in it). For lunch I have either another slimfast or a "balance bar". I have another bar in the afternoon and for dinner I usually have a lean cuisine (low cal, I try to buy only the ones under 200 calories). If not a lean cuisine, I have a small portion of whatever the family is having...My strict guideline, no bread, no potatoes, and no more than 1200 calories per day. This is what is working for me, maybe you can give it a try. Most importantly, dont have anything in the house that can sabotage you!! Best wishes. Patty

I dont want to take over Flower's thread. Hope she is doing ok!! I am scheduled for a port revision on Tuesday, which will be 12 days before my wedding/honeymoon cruise!! Has anyone had a revision?? Will I be able to go swimming?? Should I postpone the revision until after the wedding?? Help!!! Patty

You guys are the best, Penni you made me laugh!!!!! (I think it may have been whoopie that messed up the port to begin with, LOL...See I should have waited until we were married........) Last year we took the same cruise and I got a bad case of cellulitis (i am sure i spelled that wrong), I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days then I had to give myself IV antibiotics for 10 more days....I think I will call them Monday and postpone it until the cruise/wedding/honeymoon is over... And I do have 800 bazillion things to get done!!! Thanks again, Patty

Thanks for the quick reply!! I wish my Dr was around today!! I guess I will have to wait until Monday to talk to him!! I will probably wind up postponing the revision if its going to mess up my vacation. Patty

Not to be too graphic, but I just found out I need a port revision. My port flipped...and I think it was a wild night that may have flipped it!! Maybe not, but that's the only time I have been aware of "feeling" my port since I had the surgery. So if something feels uncomfortable, stop and try something different!!

Flower, hope all is going well. My port has flipped too. I just found out about an hour ago!!! They want to schedule me for a revision on Tuesday, only problem is I am getting married in 2 weeks on Aug 28 and going on a cruise for my honeymoon!!! My surgeon will be back from vaca on Monday, I just want to be sure that I will be able to go swimming and stuff on the cruise. Patty

There are 3 surgeons in my Dr's office. Today I was scheduled for a fill. The Dr that was there to do the fill tried and tried and tried, but she couldnt get it. I was soooo bummed out. She seems to think that my port has tipped or flipped, so she made an appt for me to have a fill under flouro next week. My surgeon is on vacation and I think my Dr could have done it. He was able to do a fill a month ago without jabbing me 4 times!! I will go in next week and have the flouro fill, but I will make sure my surgeon will do the rest of my fills!! Patty

I am down to 220. Thats 60 down since January, 45 down since surgery on Feb 28th. Sorry, I missed weigh in last week, I was on vaca!! Patty

I took my daughter to an audition in NYC, when we got there my bag was vibrating and humming, everyone in the waiting room was staring at me like I was some kind of freak, it was her battery operated toothbrush, I was laughing so hard!!! Every one in the waiting area probably thought I had a "toy" in the bag, but somehow her toothbrush got activated.
