NEW YEAR's Resolutions!
mcwestfam replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome idea doxie!! My New Years resolutions are to start the couch to 5k. (I'd like to do the "run for your life" 5k in march). And to start some toning and weight training!! Here's to 2013 being the healthiest year yet!! -
Oh Angie!! I'm so glad you made it home but sorry you are going thru this!! Hope it all settles down soon. Thank you for sharing your experience and hope you are feeling better soon!! Praying for you girl!! Keep us posted!!

My policy excludes wls too. That's why I ended up going to Mexico. There is sometimes a partial way around it if you happen to have a hiatal hernia with reflux. Your insurance will pay for that. And then you pay out of pocket for the sleeve portion. Which Tends to be much less.

Feel like im losing my mind
mcwestfam replied to mamakate78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Addiction is addiction... It's hard. It's hard when you give up everything. A lot of us have addictive personalities... That's what got us here in the first place. I'm no saint. Just be careful. Talking about it helps and so does realizing it's an addiction... Be it food, alcohol, or anything. Hopefully you can find another healthy outlet for it. I would recommend talking to a professional. Not what I wanted to hear, but has really helped me. Best wishes!! And know that there are plenty of us that feel your pain!! -

mcwestfam replied to Donny's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow!! Lookin good!! Super sexy!! -
Some people like it because it makes things look bigger. From a girls point of view... For me it doesn't matter either way. As long as its not a jungle down there.

What can I take for headaches?
mcwestfam replied to connie3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tylenol. Stay away from NSAIDs... No Advil, motrin, ibuprofen, or aleve. They are to hard on your tiny tummy. -
Wow! You look awesome!

That's awesome!! I'm a firm ww believer. I lost 127 pounds on it. Gained most of it back when I quit going. Now that I've had the surgery, I still plan on going back after the first of the year. It's a great support and healthy lifestyle. And once I'm back at goal, it's free!! Lol! Good luck on journey! It sounds like you are headed in the right direction!!

Are you getting plenty of fluids? Dehydration can cause a killer headache. Just a thought. Good luck!!

What influenced me the most was speaking to actual patients of the surgeons. The fact that my surgeon (dr ponce de Leon) has actually trained several of the others. The fact that he is confident enough in his work to give the patient a DVD of the actual surgery. And speaking to his coordinator trish, and hearing all the rave reviews of her. I went alone. So having someone there for me, to support me, and help me thru the process was just what I needed to make him the right surgeon for me. She was there for me every step of the way.

Glad everything is going well for you!!

Seriously Now, What Do I Need Nut For?
mcwestfam replied to SweetSaso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are many of us "self payers" that do this without a NUT. As long as you do your research (which it looks like you have), you can do this without a NUT. Some people are more comfortable having someone who can guide them along the way. But what you will find is there are a lot of NUTS out there and a lot of them give very different advice. This board is a great place to find out what others are doing and get great advice and answers to questions. Good luck on your journey!! -
About a week for me.

I was told no NSAIDs. Aleve or Advil. Too hard on the stomach.
