It's a very popular surgery and it's great that NWTH covers it!! Which Protein shake are you drinking. Pure protein was the best one I found. I still drink one on days that I'm struggling. Yay for Monday!! Hopefully purees will be better for you!!
-
Wow!! I work at NWTH too! Lol!! I love dr hodges!! I work in radiology. And I'm contracted so my insurance isn't NWTH. And my insurance wouldn't cover it. So it was just cheaper for me to go to Mexico. Are you still on liquids or purees?

Sorry you are off to a ruff start!! Those first fee weeks are tuff!! I'm 15 weeks postop and down 53 pounds!!! Couldn't be happier!! Hang in there!! It really does get easier. I hated the Protein shakes. They make me so nauseous. But I'm able to get most my protein in now with food. Who did your surgery?

I have failed the sleeve
mcwestfam replied to ArtSong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry you are struggling! I was sleeved in Mexico and so I don't have a nut. I have researched and researched what every one else was doing and what seemed to work the best. There are so many nuts out there that say sooooo many different things. I was sleeved 9/27 and I'm down 50 pounds as of today. What works for me.... I average about 5-600 calories a day. Mostly dense Protein. 64 oz of Water. 60+protein and try to stay less than 20 carbs. The only time I have had too many carbs.... I stalled. Now saying that... That's what works for ME. Every person is different. And I'm not saying that will work for you, but if what your NUT is recommending isn't working it may be time to try something different, or find a new NUT. I really wish you the best!! Just be patient and hopefully you will find what works best for YOU!! You haven't failed!!! -
I had the same problem. My dr switched me to prilosec and now I don't have any issues. Talk to your dr and see if maybe you could switch. It's over the counter and I use the generic. At first I took it twice a day, but now do fine with just once a day. Good luck!

What did you need after the sleeve?
mcwestfam replied to JackieV's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The gas isn't literally in your shoulder.... But the referred pain in your shoulders is the worst!! The gas gets trapped in your belly under your diaphragm and sends pain to your shoulders. -

I dont feel good (help?)
mcwestfam replied to SaraLaughs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 2 was definitely the worst for me. Day three was better and by day 4 I felt almost back to normal (pain wise). Was just really weak after that for about a week. Walking really does help. Also my try some gas x strips. -
I dont feel good (help?)
mcwestfam replied to SaraLaughs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used a heating pad for the first week. It was a life saver. Really helped me. Also, I used a small travel pillow across my tummy when changing positions or getting up. Hope you feel better soon! -
I use the McCormick pkg. but I add one can of light red kidney beans and a can of pinto beans. Tastes just like Wendy's without the onions and bell peppers (which I don't care for).

10 days post op (its HARD)
mcwestfam replied to Matlock23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It does get better!! I'm sorry you are having difficulty. At 10 days post op I was still on full liquids. Your tiny tummy is still swollen and healing so take it easy. Maybe try thinning out what ever you may be eating. Try soups if you are having a hard time with solids. Or adding gravy to your mashed potatoes. At 10 days, I was living on protein shakes, yogurt, and cream soups. Hope you have a happy holidays! Be patient with your sleeve.... It will get easier
