Don't be discouraged, think about all your body has been through with surgery. It is one of those situations that you need to regress to progress and I'm sure with time you will be exceeding your fitness goals. Good Luck!

I am a bundle of nerves! I learned that my paperwork has been submitted to the BC/BS for approval....or denial If you wouldn't mind sending some positive energy my way, maybe crossing your fingers and toes I would appreciate it. I am hoping and praying with all my being that I will get approved!!!

Telling Your Boss Your Having Surgery..
hope4sleeve replied to MK1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work for myself so I am not at risk of losing my job. That said if I am approved for the surgery I am going to have to explain my absence to my staff and clients.......still thinking about this but I feel fortunate that my job is safe. Good Luck to all those who may struggle with your bosses and jobs. -

Cautiously (Very Cautiously) Optimistic!
hope4sleeve replied to hope4sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am looking into the Mexico option if this does not work, unfortunately my husband is not quite on board. He would rather remortgage the house and get it done in the US. He believes that the doctors who do the surgery in Mexico are very skilled at what they do but possibly not as skilled with my other issues and that makes him nervous. I guess we will hope for the insurance approval and cross that bridge if we come to it. Thank you for your kind response and words of encouragement. Congrats to you on your surgery...... and for marrying a great guy -
Cautiously (Very Cautiously) Optimistic!
hope4sleeve posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last year I went through the process for VSG. Though I did not meet the minimum requirements my PCP, and other specialists felt that it would be beneficial for me to have Based on my other medical issues. I was not approved and I lost my appeal. I gave up and decided I would lose weight on my own, I gained 11 pounds It is a long and boring story but in the end, my body is working against me and having this "tool" could work wonders for me and greatly increase the quality of my life. After gaining the 11 pounds I decided to see a new surgeon. Part of the issue last year was the coordinator in the surgeons office said there was nothing they could do to help with the appeal. I had several conversations with her which were fruitless, I made several requests to speak with the surgeon or get an appointment with him and I was denied, this is where I gave up. I did all the pre-op tests again and saw the new surgeon for the second time this week. At this point he had time to review my medical records and become aquainted with my other diseases. He very sincerely looked at me and while shaking his head said there is no reason the insurance should not approve this his exact quote was " you should not have to suffer every day when there is something I can do to help you, your body has been through so much". He is ready to fight for me. This is not to say that I will get approved by the insurance, but it has given me some reason for hope -

Wow! Shame on you for this post! Overall I have found people on this forum to be an amazing resource. For those who you may not agree with, understand or like you simply don't need to read them or you could comment directly to them. At the very least don't throw insults out to the community and then ask for help in deleting your account. I appreciate you stating that the post was not meant for everyone but it really was not necessary nor was it in good taste. None the less I wish you health and happiness as you move on.

Fearful Of Upcoming Pcp Appt
hope4sleeve replied to Boofster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar struggle with my pcp, she is very thin and seems really "earthy crunchy". I was nervous to speak to her about the surgery, but I was pleasantly surprised. She totally supported the surgery for me (she said she doesn't support it for everyone) she wrote an amazing letter and has been following all my pre-op tests closely. This was a little surprsing to me because I don't meet the required bmi or have the co-morbisities required. I do have a chronic illness that is affected by my weight but is not caused by my weight. In any case i am glad I at least gave her the chance and for me it worked out -
It All Fell Apart Today... Surgeon Left Practice!
hope4sleeve replied to StrongMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that is terrible. So sorry you have to deal with all this, how disappointing. -
I am very close to 2 people who had gastric bypass. One couple went through some adjustment to the "new me" that evolved and it has been a bumpy road but they seem to be working it out. The other couple really supported each other through the changes and have grown stronger as a couple. My husband is an amazing man who truly loves me and I love him just as much so I am hoping we escape any relationship issues, but want to be sure to be aware of it and make time for us if this surgery does happen for me.
