Good idea, I did not go the cheese route, problem food for me. You still have 7 days left this month, go for some protein shakes, kick up the exersise & keep on going. They say it gets harder to lose after a year, some say 8 months, we can do it together

One week post op and still in pain :/
rosehips replied to MamaBof2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in pain for 2 weeks, after 10 days it started to improve. My doc says some people have no pain but that was not me. -
Oh yea, I just looked at your stats, 10 lbs plus a month, you are rockin. I loose 10 lbs a month, here I am 8 mo post op & 15 lbs preop weight loss & I have lost 101. I believe for 10 lbs each month & it happens. (I lost 16 the 1st mo. Post op.) How much r u able to eat per meal? By 4/7 you will drop more weight.

Your body will drop some weight all at one time, I weight about every 3 weeks, as long as my clothes continue to get big all is on track. Keep up the good work

weigh gain after one and half years....help

Yep, Diva has said it. Very good words of wisdom. Maintance is a challenge that each of us it up to. You can do it. We have worked soooooo hard for this, now is not the time to quit. (I know you did not say u were quitting, I'm reinforcing it for me!!!!) One of my tools I PLAN to use after I hit goal is to NEVER buy bigger clothes when pounds creep back on. Maybe there it's a forum on here for people in Maintance & how they are reloosinging the small amounts that they have gained. I am not at goal yet. Also the fact that you told on yourself is the next step. Have you gone to OA ever? I went one time a month ago, it helped. -
PRE op was hard, very hard. I too started earlier than required, I was worried I would not lose the required amount in time. I was hungry, hungry, hungry. I wanted my best friend. I get angry when "someone" takes my food away, I was angry at my doctor, my nutritionist, my nurse. I too am an addict, I knew this time what was going on cause I had had the same feelings 2 years prior on some other food plan. The good news is......getting thru the PRE diet prepares you for having no real food right after surgery. For me, if I had had the operation, woke up & it was the beginning of my food restriction I would have been Desperate. Making the adjustment from all the diets we have been on, to LITERALLY one ounce of food would have sent me over the edge. I attended food groups thru my bariactric center during that month. Two ladies talked to me, I asked for their phone #'s & as hard as it was, I called them. I was embarrassed to have to do this but everything was on the line for me. I had to start learning how to manage my food addiction somewhere, so I called. They helped me by telling me how they got thru the specific problem. We had the same doctor so we had the same PRE food plan. One of the solutions was to call the doctors office, tell them how starving I was at week 2, the solution was to not reduce my food as prescribed for week 3. This helped immensely, it was also the start of working in the realm of my doctors advice & it has led me to success. Now don't get me wrong, I ate some food right before surgery that was not on plan, it was dumb & it showed me how quickly I go from compliance to out of control. My food issues since the surgery are different than before. I am following portion size, I am exercising and I don't stay home as much cause that ='s boredom which ='s eating.....if I am not careful. I have gone to about 5 support groups at my bariactric place in 8 months. I thought I would need to go weekly, biweekly, daily if necessary. For me, the fast weight loss, the endorphins from exercise, the sickness I would get if I take an extra bite has helped me stay on my path to getting to goal. I am cognitive that I must do what it takes to make this work for ME. If I started eating food with no restricted feeling in my body & I was gaining weight I would hustle in to a therapist, get a trainer for exercise, sign up for an 8 wk food plan w/ a doctors office. The 1st thing I would do is BE HONEST, tell on myself. We both know we have not been a success at weight loss & keeping it off prior to this. So far losing 100 lb's has been easy compared w/ losing 10 lb's prior to surgery. But I am on guard...that's another story. As far as PRE op, do the best you can, you sound like you are going to hit the required goal. Your stomach will be so different after the surgery u won't be dealing with the same issues. Hane you researched the enzyme ghrelin yet? If no go for it. I believe it has helped me with my success. personal message me if u would like, we can talk if you need to. Hang in there. I am VERY happy w/ my life because I am moving, living without pain. Yahooo

Worried about the restriction.
rosehips replied to BigFatLoser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On day 7 I saw my doctor. In my first week I was a mess. Can't get all the required stuff in. OTR is right, we don't have to move onto the next stage til it is tolerable. On day 7 when I saw my doc he told me not to worry about my vitamins, my protein, just stay hydrated. He said "this is not for a month, it is for a lifetime.". Try to relax, everything gets better & better. You will be able to increase slowly. After I saw my doc I was able to realize all is normal & I have been fine since then. I am happy your journey has started, mine is rockin -
New to this...and already frustrated
rosehips replied to Chartner2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am at 8 months. I weight myself about every 3-4 weeks. This way I don't see the stalls. Every months I lose at least 10 lbs. we can't eat less than we are eating, I have been exercising a lot once I got to one month post op. actually, I started E at one month but just got better and better every month. If at all possible stay off the scale, follow the instructions and you really can't go wrong. Occasionally thru this, I have been on the scale daily & nothing happens, then all of a sudden my body drops 5-7 lbs. I do not regain any of it, I just keep losing EACH MONTH. Your mom is WRONG, you are not wrong. Our bodies are a chemistry project, the body gives up the pounds when it wants to. My life is awesome w/ this 100 lbs off me. I am so comfortable living life now. You are going to love running around with your kid sooner than you can imagine. I had no comprehension on the magnitude my weight was keeping me from living life. Hang in there -
I use to sell health ins. My experience was the insurance company would deny a person until they had been on them for 3-6 months & the doctor said the person felt better. All the other posters said good things, I too am on anti depressants & have been since 1998. Just another thought in the mix, how long have you been suffering from depression? Years? You mention it is partially because of your weight. Mine was too. Now that I am 30 lb's from goal and getting all these endorphins from exercise I wonder if I will be able to get off them. I can only do one thing at a time so it is too early for me. My point is, if the depression is mainly weight related, MAYBE having the surgery and the wonderful, quick weight loss will alleviate most of the depression. I know I still felt plenty depressed even on the pills while I was 125 lb's overweight.

When will my hair stop falling out?
rosehips replied to LatteMadonna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My did not happen til 5 months. A person can do everything right & it still can happen but I slacked off on my vitamins and think this increased/caused it. Here is what I do now Biotine daily All my vitamins Wash hair less, more gently, towel dry gently, brush gently Pull hair up & clip so people can't see my ears showing through After all this I try to ignore my hair & look at my smaller hips instead. Good luck -
Ya know, I've even read doctors make our stomach different sizes, maybe that is why some people are hungrier than others. Also, I want very much to believe I now have reduced grelin, but after reading more about it on the Internet it is a controversy. It is so true some are hungrier than others. I thank my lucky stars for a 1 month PRE surgery diet. I had already had my food ripped!!!!, yes ripped away from me so I had been so hungry before surgery I was more accustomed to way less food. Hang in there, find an activity that distracts you.

I had surgery 8/24, have lost 92 lb.'s, go to the gym now, walk daily & am down from size 24 tight pants to a wonderful size 16 & 14's in my near future. Tops went from size 3x to a large or XL. I am way more social, one of the best feelings for me is walking into a room and not being so self conscious. I had no complications, I did have pain after the surgery for one week. a lot of people do not have pain like I had, I was real uncomfortable. I get nauseous now if I don't chew my food well. THAT IS IT on the negative side. My feet no longer hurt, sometimes I am so happy I just can't contain myself, my energy is over the top most days and I seriously want to burst with happiness as I walk w/ a spring in my step. I can do exercises now that I could not do at 2 months out cause I just keep getting stronger. I hope you are able to force yourself to walk into the hospital. If for some reason you don't then there is a reason for that too. I wish you all the success I have had AND MORE. P.S. I was very nervous & scared & flipped out too :-))

I am hungry ! Please talk me off the ledge!
rosehips replied to roriep's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
From my experience, most of us are not hungry after surgery. For me I was nauseous after all bites of food so food was not a comfort, I was not hungry & before the surgery I knew I was saying bye bye to food overall. The other thing that helped me was a one month required preop diet. It was not just liquids but it was a diet from my doc. I hated the diet but he makes everyone do it so the liver shrinks and then he has an easier field to work in. If he had not "taken" my food away for that month I know I would have been flipping out for food. But I was already divorced from it. Good for you for reviewing if you are ready. Only you know. I wish you the best -
I was very scared starting preop too. You are about to become educated on what this is about and if YOU can do it. It is scary having our food taken away cause most use food to some degree as a coping tool. I almost backed out twice. The first time was me telling my doctor I will go home and try for another year to lose the weight on my own. He said "go ahead, you will be back in two years with another 50 lbs and then you will have comorbidities. The reason we fail on diets is it takes too long to lose the star weight and we become too hungry". The 2nd time was a week b4 the surgery, I told myself I don't care how many people know I am about to do this, I change my mind and I am not going to do it. Later that day I heard my God, my higher power tell me Yes It is the right decision to do it. Now 7 1/2 months out and 92 lbs gone I AM SO THANKFUL I walked thru my fear & did this. I was ready, 5 yrs earlier I made a decision that I was not ready. I still needed my food and I knew I would gain it back. NOW was/is right for me. Good luck

I defiantly would get a 2nd opinion & even a third is sometimes prudent. Your doctor stating you have scar tissue from the band & vomiting could be a serious complication. I would also ask the doctor how many sleeves he/she has done. It is possible he is so comfortable doing the bypass surgery that when anything is "different" he wants to go to his tried and true method. This is just a thought that popped in my mind.

I SUGGEST you type COMPLICATIONS in to the search box & read real life accounts of people's misery & near death experiences. People can get a leak in the staple areas without eating in the first 3 weeks. Your head seems to be telling you to ignore the chances of a leak for some momentary satisfaction. When I had my surgery I was on a 3 week post liquid diet. All food had to be dripping off the spoon, then I went to purred food. The sugar free popscycles r a good idea. Jello, sugar free pudding doesn't drip off the spoon but it is real soft. A lot of us don't enjoy the shakes but you are only drinking what? 4 oz at a time? And you are going to loose a lot of weight this month if you comply. Then again if you eat something that causes a leak YOU WILL LOOSE A TON OF WEIGHT CAUSE YOU WILL BE VERY SICK FOR ABOUT 2 months, more if you are unlucky. You will be away from your child for weeks as you are struggling in the hospital to live. Just read the complication stories. If I sound harsh & mean to you it is because I care, yes you are a stranger but you are a fellow large person who wants a better life. Follow the rules, I am ecstatic with the results I am getting, you will be too. -

rosehips commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
I had been a 4000-6000 step person with the occasional 11000 day. Yep 11k and I would hurt the next day. Over the last month I am totaling out at 7500 most days and I am feeling great. I have a big time spring in my step. My chiropractor actually adjusts the bones in the bottom of my feet & my ankles. Really helps me -

Hi Artsong, I did workout every day of bootcamp, I don't loose much without the workout. Since you say you are a slow loser, have you ever tried upping your calories for 2 days and then going back to your standard low cal diet? Occasionally I have done this and I think it revs up the metabolism or something and I see it breaking a plateau. Maybe someone else can explain what it does or maybe you have tried and know all about it. Keep up your good work, slow & steady wins the race :-))
