Looking For Sleevers In My Area.
LizTex2587 replied to LizTex2587's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's fantastic! We will have to get together. I'm so glad to find someone in my area! Who is doing your surgery? -
Alright, here is the deal. When I spoke to my primary care physician about bariatric surgery (at the time I was considering the lap band), he made it clear he was not a fan of that at all and encouraged me to just make a greater effort at losing weight all on my own. I totally get that, it's not like I can just get sleeved and let it do all the work for me...for true success and long-term results, I have to use the sleeve correctly as the tool it was meant to be! When I told my mom that our physician wasn't all that crazy about me getting the surgery, she made a very valid point...He may be a doctor, but he is not the one that has to live in your body... To top it all off, I only have until April 2013 to get this done if I am wanting insurance to pay for it. I turn 26 in April and will no longer be covered on my parents plan, so if I am going to do this, it needs to happen soon. Well, I am scheduled to be sleeved on the 14th of January and I'm super excited...I have not lost very much weight at this point, I'm kind of taking it slow, but when I went to see my pcp he gave me a very stern lecture on getting my weight down..."we've got to get you serious about losing the weight"...All I could think was " well, you are about to see how serious it's gonna get!!" Truth be told I feel a little guilty about not letting him know my plans, but hey, he's only my doctor and it's my life. Maybe he will dismiss me as a patient for going against his medical advice...maybe he will just give me another lecture...i dunno. But either way, I'm getting sleeved and I am going to lose weight and be healthy! So there! lol

Getting Really Restless Waiting For A Date.
LizTex2587 replied to missmelymelissa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was in the same boat you are in now...I got so much anxiety about being approved and getting my date that I had to literally make myself calm down...I was close to having anxiety attacks several times...I really dont have anxiety attacks, but I was getting so worked up that I just could not seem to calm downa and rationalize...and you know what? It was all for nothing! everything worked out fine, i was approved and now I have my date. I know that waiting is so difficult and sometimes you feel like the anticipation is going to kill you. It's almost like it's not really happening until you nail down a date. Don't worry!! You will get there soon enough! They aren't going to make you jump through all of those flaming hoops just to shoot you down! Your time is coming! -
most important thing: Do not mess with it!

The Good, the Bad,the Ugly, & The Absolutely Terrifying!
LizTex2587 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Attention all you wonderful post-OP folks! This Lil pre-OP girl keeps hearing about really great experiences that people have throughout this whole journey and that's totally great and I hope my experience is that wonderful! Then I hear stories of those that a have had bit of a tough time and I think that I'm willing to except the bag that comes with the good.I believe the payoff will be with it. Then there ones that have horror stories that would make Freddy Krueger cringe...and this just terrifies me! I keep hearing people saying how they totally regret doing it and wish they could take it all back. What I really want to know is, hope common is it for people to experience these absolute tortuous results? I know everyone's body is different and can handle things differently, I just don't want to do something that will, make me miserable! need some reassurance! -
I'm in Corpus Christi! Not too far! I have not seen too many people from our area on here, but there are a few. I go down there qutie often, we have friends in Harlingen, San Benito, and Weslaco.

Jan. 2013 Buddies! A New Year = A New Us!
LizTex2587 replied to LizTex2587's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok this is a challenge I will put to all of my fellow January Sleeve Buddies. Make a different New Year's resolution instead of just resolving to lose the weight. I'm not saying it's gonna be a piece of cake (poor choice of words?) But if we use this new tool correctly, the weight WILL come of! Yay! So I challenge each and every one of us to think of another area of our lives that might need a little attention and resolve to make it happen! I know that the less time and focus i have to give thought to all of the foods I'm not eating, the better. I know it's only November, and January is still a couple of months away, but i also know we are all chomping at the bit for the New Year and our new lives so lets just share some ideas for now -
Approved! Approved! Approved!
