    alcohol

My dr said to avoid beer and wine if I had to have a Coctail a 1/2 shot of good vodka was best due to the way the sugar breaks down. Maybe it's slower in vodka so the stomach can process it better since it's so small. She recommended having it with A sugar free beverage-not straight shots and to nurse it. Again, they recommend waiting 3 months which won't be until Jan. 11th for me. To tell you the truth, I'm struggling with food at every meal -I don't need more worries or issues by experimenting with alcohol! My husband's 50th B'day is Jan. 25 so maybe I'll indulge that night!

    Christmas Day Challenge!

Weigh-in 12/26/12-212.5 - missed goal by 5.5 lbs. - that's ok, a 15 lb. Loss from Thanksgiving to Christmas is truly a "Christmas Miracle" for me! Happy New Year!

    alcohol

Happy Birthday! I just want to say that I had a tiny sip of a fall punch about 4 weeks post-op-well, about 20 minutes later I was sick as a dog! It wasn't worth it at all! Meanwhile, I asked my doctor last week at my 2 month post op visit about alcohol and she said they recommend waiting 3 months and then to avoid beer and wine. She said have Crystal Lite with a dash of vodka would be ok. Also, she warned that sleevers are cheap dates-be careful, the buzz sneaks up on you! Good luck!

leak test a must see video

I loved that video! My surgeon gave me a snapshot photo album of the surgery except no photos of the staples or end result so I've been dying to know what my sleeve looks like. I wonder why they didn't let me watch the monitor as I was taking the leak test. That would have helped me realize how small the sleeve actually is! No wonder I eat like a bird!

WELL...I'VE BEEN TALKED OUT OF IT...

My parents were concerned at first and Niw -60 pounds later -they are my biggest fans!
  9. Have a wonderful Christmas, sweetie! You look beautiful! You gave yourself the best gift ever-your youth and your health! God bless you! Keep up the great work!
  10. Don't worry-the numbers start going down slower, but down they go! Some weeks I'll lose more than others depending on activity level and water but I notice my clothes getting bigger every day whether the scale moves down or not. As long as you keep the carb consumption low and get protein in and take vitamins, the pounds will come off. I'm excited to begin exercising (sleeved on 10/11/12 but also had hernia repaired) to step up my weight loss. I'ld love to be down 100 by Aug. 15th- exactly one year after starting Pre-op diet. I'ld weigh 178 which I haven't weighed in 17 years!

    October sleevers

Oct. Sleevers are doing fantastic!!! We had Halloween and Thanksgiving to make it through and we still did great! I'm most happy to report my BMI went from 44 to 38 since Aug. (start 278- 219 today! -59 pounds!) Can't eat everything and am taking it very slow. I'm just starting exercising today - cleared yesterday since I also had hernia repaired. Need to tighten and tone fo' sure! good luck making it through cookie and cocktail season!
  12. Nope! On my way to my 2 month post-op visit with my surgeon-I've lost over 50 lbs since 1st visit with him in August! Sooo happy! Is it easy? No-I have a lot of food issues to work through. I eat too fast and am learning not to and try really hard not to eat that one bite too many that i'm accustomedto doing, as well. One meal at a time is my motto! Feel 10 years younger - 50's are the new 30's after being sleeved!

    October sleevers

  14. It sounds like you "slimed"! (I know-gross term!) it's never happened to me but I am 7-1/2 weeks post and still cannot tolerate pasta, crackers. I had 1/4 of a flax flat bread yesterday (Amen!) and it was great. My tummy didn't try to reject it! Take it very slow. I still have a Premier brand (Costco) shake every morning because I can't eat cereal and not even a whole egg-so my snack is a Greek yogurt to get a lot if protein inthroughout the morning. If you start feeling full, stop eating. It's that one more little bite habit that I have to break (no choice but to, now!!) that makes a huge difference now! Good luck!
  15. I agree-puddings, yogurt and creamed soup went down pretty good-still does. I could drink 1/4-1/2 cup. But food like chicken, eggs, potatoes-I can only eat 3-4 spoonfulls. Tonight I had. chicken cutlet (lightly breaded, oven baked) and I had a piece the size of my thumb, a tablespoon of rice-a-roni and a tablespoon of corn. I would love to eat more, but the discomfort of over eating isn't worth it! I still need one shake a day to get 60-80 grams if protein in.

    Help! No Appetite-Week 5

Was cleared to eat anything-but to avoid bread, at only 5 weeks post-op. I can only tolerate such a small amount of pureed food, when I eat chicken I feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest. Now I'm becoming afraid to eat! I'm still drinking 2 shakes a day (have to!) for 60 grams protein, but meals are not enjoyable! I can only tell when I'm full, when I'm too full. I don't get sick, but feel like I could. Even One egg is too much! I have to stop when I've eaten about 75% or risk the elephant feeling! I'm happy to be fading away, but I worry that it will be too fast and I'll also age faster, too!  I do get all my vitamins in, plus the protein and about 32 oz. water so I'm ok nutrient-wise. Does this phase pass? Is this unusual? 
  17. Thanks, girls! I feel great! Aside from being verrry tired at night-I would forget I had WLS! Oh, the burping reminds me too! Lol-when I'm hungry, or full...my new tummy speaks to me! Working in an Elem. School office is exhausting -let alone 2 teenage daughters (17&18), I'm doing terrific! I feel younger than my age (53!!), which is a complete 180 degree turn from a year ago! I'm so happy my sleeve saved my life and is giving me me "mo-Jo" back! Tee-hee!
  18. 1st photo was in 8/15/12- start of Pre-op diet (weight 278). 2nd photo was this morning - 7 weeks post-op (weight 222). I'm baaaaaack!!!

    October 13Th Sleeved...

I too was sleeved on 10/11/12- I've lost 31 as of last Friday(I weigh myself on Fridays only) post-op and another 23 Pre-op. The loss per week fluctuates-one week -3 the next, only 1, the next-4!! I would love to keep up with a 4 pound a week average but I know that's impossible! So my goal is -10 lbs. /month.
