  1. Yes, I failed. Had a bunch of job stress. Ate mexican and had a margarita last night and then today had a salami and cheese sandwich. Please don't come it to preach---I know I blew it. I hate what I've done. I'm scared. What if my surgeon sees my liver and says forget it? OMG--I can't believe I did this. Can anyone share some empathy, sympathy? Any nurses to tell me I won't die from what I"ve done? Sigh. I'm such a loser.
  2. JB--thanks I love that quote. I was just putting my wls notes together to put in my binder and I copied and pasted it but increased the font size to 18 and bolded it. It will by in my thouhgts forever. Here's something I have in that doc I thought you might like: Six main activities are important for success after surgery: 1. controlling portions 2. eating right for good nutrition 3. setting personal goals 4. exercising 5. reducing stress 6. participating in support groups

    Surgery On Monday

Mine is on Monday too. I'm feeling a little anxious but I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row. I have to pack, get to the pharmacy, get my bedroom set for my return home, get my protein station set up with all my powders, broths, blender, etc. It's all going to be great. HUGS
  4. Thank you all for your comments and support. It's hard to believe hardly anyone cheats. Maybe people have more will power than me but I find that hard to believe truthfully. We didn't get to this point by following the rules, kwim? I'm going to be fine. Doing clears from here on out and will follow protocal 100% after surgery.

December 2012 (Receiving The Gift Of Sleeve)

Yes but my dr only requires one week. I am actually doing it now. I do shakes and one meal in the evening. As we get closer, I will start eating even less at night.

I'm also scheduled on Dec 3. Woohoo!!!
  8. I was wondering how they test if there are leaks after your surgery? Also, do many people have to have drains? Anything else I should know?
  9. Thanks everyone. I just like to be prepared.
  10. I'm a month pre-op. I do all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. My dh works very late most nights--for example, last night he got home at 9:10 pm. I have 2 teenage boys---neither can cook. Any suggestions on how I can prepare for their meals after my surgery? How long will it be before I can really cook and do the home stuff again? TIA
  11. I'm pre-op and have about a month to go. I would love to get some endurance up and am going to just put one foot in front of the other. I am 300 lbs and get out of breath really easy---just going up the stairs in my house will do it---so I don't expect to be able to do much but anything is better than not doing it. Right?

    My Biggest Fear

Thanks for being honest. I think most people have this fear, I know I do. I'm 53 and have been big most of my adult life. Succeeded on many diets too but never kept it off. It's awful. Maybe another thing to do is write down all the negatives to being obese. That will remind you in the future of how far you have come and what you don't want back in your life. HUGS.
  18. Update: Well, the date choice was taken out of my hands. My boss will be out of town and I am the only other person here(I work at a church--my boss is the Pastor). So I've opted for Dec 3 as my date---my new birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm ok with this. I'm actually feeling very positive and ready to get moving with my walking to build up some endurance and starting on my protein shakes next week. I also made my first therapy appt for next week too.
  19. I started my wls journey in June. Completed everything the end of August. Then the wait began. I did awesome in Sept----quit alcohol, started eating only 1 meal a day, had a positive attitude---lost 15 lbs and felt like I could conquer the world with my new vsg sleeve. My stupid insurance didn't approve me till Oct 23---yesterday. Well, being the flawed human I am, I lost it the end of Sept with all the stress of waiting and started back to my old bad habits---eating everything and anything, drinking alcohol, etc. Now I'm up 12 of those 15 lbs lost, so embarrassed of my self and the wls place gave me a choice of surgery dates. I was hoping for a few weeks to get mentally/physically prepared. Not going to happen. They have a date of Nov 6 available with the pre-op appt on Nov 1. That's next week. If I don't take it, (I booked it but am sorry I did), I will have to wait till the beginning of Dec. I feel like it would be better for me mentally to wait the extra month---my dh thinks I'm just making excuses and thinks I should go ahead with it. I really could use your input and throughs. Am I just making excuses, putting it off and being afraid??? I would value your opinion and thoughts a lot.
  20. I called BCBS federal and was told yes, the sleeve is covered. Now my surgeon's office says it isn't covered and I have to go with the bypass. I don't want the bypass---I think the sleeve is a better solution for me. Anyone have sleeve covered with BCBS federal ins?

Anyone With Bcbs Federal? Sleeve Covered?

BTW, all the people in the office---I've seen a PA, nutritionist, & reg MD---not surgeon yet---they all believe that the bypass is the GOLD standard of surgery. More successful and more data is available. I don't want the bypass for many reasons---wls is a tool and I think the sleeve will be the better fit for me. Probably many of the same reasons you all went with it. Now, hopefully the ins co will approve it and I can move on with my life.

Anyone With Bcbs Federal? Sleeve Covered?

No, they were mistaken---I think. I called bc/bs yesterday. They said the only wording stated "restrictive surgery" for wls. That includes the sleeve. I got the billing codes and stuff and called the clinic back. The ins person is submitting it as a sleeve---woohoo. Now to wait to get approved. Thanks for replying. I'm excited. I can't wait.
