  1. So I went today, and lost 16 lbs. Today is 17 days since surgery day. I expected more---guess I'm unrealistic or maybe I should be walking like I was told. Anyway, wondered how your appts go? How much did you lost? Mine is like a big cattle call. There were about 15 of us that had surgery the week of Dec 3 there---same appt time, 8 am, see the surgeon for 1 minute or so, then go into a conference room to wait for the nutritionist and all the other cattle patients. She discussed our next phase (pureed) and then after another week or so, regular food. Gave us some handouts. Then we were let go. Is this how your clinic works? I find it unfair considering what they charge although it's probably hard to fit everyone in if they didn't do it like this, I guess.

    Who else was Dec 3?!

Hi I'm also a Dec 3 sleever. I went for my post op today. Lost 16 lbs. I actually felt disappointed--I guess I'm unrealistic. Maybe if I walked more like I was supposed to. The doctor said it was good. Now I got to pureed foods for a week and then regular. I'm a little scared but anxious to get beyond just shakes and clear liquids.

    problems with sleep

I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and not sleeping great either. I was just like you. My family always said I was like a cat I liked to sleep so much. Maybe it's that "new" energy they say we're supposed to get? I don't know but I don't feel energetic--just tired.

    **confession**

I'm sure you'll be fine. I would go back to shakes or whatever your doctor's protocol is but I doubt you did much damage. HUGS
  5. Can you share the recipe please? I'm not ready yet for food but someday---sigh.
  6. Hugs. Sorry for all your trouble.

    Depressed

I was sleeved on Dec 3--I guess that's also 8 days out if that's how you're counting it. I'm doing fine with my liquids and proteins. Not doing as much walking as I should though. I'm tired. I also feel cranky, it started yesterday and it might have to do with the hormones or just the monatomey of the same old, same old routine. Can you get out of the house? Maybe a change of scenery will help. I'm going back to work tomorrow and looking forward to it in one way and not so much in another. I guess I'll take my shake with me and a water bottle. HUGS It'll get better.
  8. I slept on my side the third night.

    Where are the 50s ???

Today I had my dh set up the treadmill. I don't care if I have to walk at 1 mph, I'm going to do as much as I possibly can and increase by as much as possible each day. Maybe I'll get to that mile by next Thursday after all.
  10. My dr wants me to be able to walk a mile by next Thursday. I have been walking in my house but it's 25 degrees outside and I'm not up to going out there. How can I progress to a mile? I get short of breath pretty quickly---don't expect that to get much better till I drop some substantial weight, have been short of breath when I walk for a long time now. I'm a bit worried and dh told me this morning I have 10 days to walk the mile. I don't think I can do it. Any suggestions?

    Where are the 50s ???

Hi, I'm one week post op today. Feeling ok, actually getting in all my clear liquids and 2 protein shakes. This is my protocol till I see my surgeon on Dec 20. At that point, I move to pureed foods. I'm not feeling like walking though and he wants me to be able to walk a mile by then. I'm lazy. I do plan on starting an exercise program but haven't. I spend all day just getting in my liquids. Maybe I'm just making excuses? Just wanted to say hi.

    in the hospital

    Good luck.
  13. Thanks. The mall is really far from me so that's not possible right now. I guess I'll just do it in my house. I do have a treadmill but don't know how to use it. I'm one week out today--for the person that mentioned it.

    Sleeved 12/3/12

I am also Dec 3 sleeved. I am doing well. Although I was planning on going back to work today and decided I wasn't ready. I'm thinking I'll go Wed. I'm getting 2 protein shakes in a day which is 60 grams of protein, and 64 oz or more of clear liquids. This is my diet till I see my surgeon on Dec 20. He does not allow yogurt or anything that's not clear till after that. I'm having no problems other than being tired and a little sore.

    Week 2

You are doing great. This is a lifelong journey and we need to take advantage of the honeymoon period. I plan and hope to learn the right habits with my eating and drinking to carry me through the rest of my life. You will do great. Stay positive.
  16. I was told no ice or cold drinks for at least 3 weeks. I guess every dr has a different protocol.

    lifting

My surgeon said not to lift more than 8 lbs for 3 weeks. 8 lbs is just a gallon of milk. I'm not even carrying laundry at this point. Today I am 1 week post op.

    Constipation- 4day postop

I took 2 stool softeners on Sunday and woohoo---actually went a little. No cramps, pain or anything--just worked.
  19. Hugs and prayers. Hope they figure it out.

    Constipation- 4day postop

I'm also 4 days post op. Doing very well. Hard to get the 2 shakes in but yesterday I almost did it along with 64 oz of clear liquids. Walking and sipping, sipping and walking. I haven't eaten since last Thursday and I haven't had a bm since Saturday. I don't feel stopped up--just wondering when or if I should be concerned. I'm on the 2 shake diet till I see my surgeon on Dec 20 and then he will most likely more me to pureed foods. Anyone with experience on just shakes and clears should pipe in here and let us know. Thanks.
  21. My emotions are making me think I"m crazy. I'm excited, sad, happy, nervous, anxious, etc. I was sitting on the floor hugging my big ole dog and crying into her fur. WTH???? Anyone else feel like this too?
