I was a (hot) coffee drinker and kind of lost the taste for it. But since the surgery, I have had cold press (iced coffee) with a bit of cream and a shot of sugar free vanilla syrup - about 3 times per week. It's relatively low carb and hits the spot for me!

Saw this on the Skinny Taste blog and thought it was worth a try. It was really delicious - though I think the 1.5 cups of Greek yogurt was overkill for 16 ounces of chicken. I might try just a cup next time and that saves some carbs. Made as is in the recipe, MFP calculated the nutrition per serving (for 8 total servings ) at 116 calories, 7 carbs, 4 grams fat, 14 grams protein! Pistachio Cinnamon Chicken salad 16 oz cooked shredded boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1 1/2 cups Fat-Free Greek plain yogurt ½ cup pistachios, finely chopped 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp fresh lime juice 4 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped 1 stalk celery, finely chopped 1/4 tsp sea salt 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper 2 scallions, finely chopped Shred cooked chicken breast using a fork; place in a large mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients; gently toss to combine. Transfer to serving bowls. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Sprinkle with additional scallions.

I would love love love some popcorn...
TakeCareGirl replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months post op and I have popcorn. My DD7 and I have movie night every Friday, and pre VSG I would make a huge batch (with the Whirley Pop using oil - yes, oil!) and I would eat most of it. Now we make it about every other week (still with the Whirley Pop) and I just make 1/3 what I used to make and I cut myself off. I season it with the white cheddar seasoning, so good! Now it could become a slider food, so I have to be careful. But I made the decision pre-VSG that when I don't allow myself something, that I want it more, and I end up having it anyway, so VSG and limiting myself is the perfect solution for me. Good luck! -

Made this before being sleeved and in going through my meal planning the other day, I realized it is a perfectly low-carb meal - perfect for the cold weather! So we are off to watch a friend in a gymnastics meet and this is in the crockpot and will be ready for dinner when we get home. Good thing DD7 LOVES spicy! Calculated in MFP for a total of 8 servings, per serving nutrition information: 128 calories, 6 carbs, 2 grams fat, 27 grams protein! (If you add a little cheese or sour cream/greek yogurt as a topping, that will of course add to the calories etc.) Tomatillo chicken Soup Prep Time: 30 minutes | Cook Time: 6 to 7 hours (low ) or 3 to 3 1/2 hours (high) | Servings: | Difficulty: Medium 6 tomatillos, husks removed and rinsed 1-1/2 lb. chicken breast halves 32-oz. chicken broth 1 sweet pepper, chopped 1/2 cup chopped red onion 1 stalk celery, chopped 1 4-oz. can diced green chiles 2 Tbsp. snipped fresh cilantro 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced* 1 T. ground cumin 1 T. lime juice 2 t. chili powder 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 t. salt 1tsp. ground black pepper Chop three tomatillos. Place remaining tomatillos in blender. Cover; blend until smooth. In a 3-1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker combine pureed and chopped tomatillos, chicken, broth, sweet pepper, onion, celery, chiles, cilantro, jalapeño, cumin, lime juice, chili powder, garlic, and 1 tsp. each salt and pepper. Cover; cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or high for 3 to 3-1/2 hours. Remove chicken; let stand until cool enough to handle. Shred chicken; return to soup. If desired, top with sour cream, additional chopped red sweet pepper or jalapeño peppers, snipped cilantro, and/or tortilla chips. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
