The Last Few Hours Of The Countdown !
Imjustmee replied to LizInTexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was a basket case the morning of surgery. A 35 year old grown man having hysteria. It's funny to me now though. In a couple weeks you'll look back and chuckle. If I can offer you some advice don't go into this thinking you'll never have food you love. If you do that's all you will focus on these next few weeks which are the hardest. I speak from experience. I'm week 3 now but the first week I made myself miserable focusing on what I couldn't have that got me to this point. The truth is you will one day have what you love. Just not a lot of it and possible slightly modified. Focus on positive thoughts and enjoy the ride. -
Mine weren't really sore. They itched like crazy though.

Mine was done outpatient at a hospital;. Checked in at 9 am was home by 6. After surgery they did an upper GI to check for leaks and then sent me on my way.

When Can I Have Salad?
Imjustmee replied to jhbk2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it mostly depends on you. i was told I could have salad as soon as I start real food. Just to be careful of the veggies with skin. Also keep dressing to a minimum. -
Don't Eat Fish...help!
Imjustmee replied to robynluevano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shredded chicken with plain Greek yogurt some salt pepper and lemon juice is filled with protein. Kind of like chicken salad. -
I really liked french onion soup with the onions strained out and minus the bread. It really seemed to hit the spot and cure the craving for seasoning that I had. I'm week 3 now and moved on to mushies.

Damned If I Do Damned If I Don't.
Imjustmee posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is day 16 post op. While I had really good results at my 2 week checkup yesterday(lost 33 lbs). I'm finding today really hard. I went from eating some sort of pasta or potato everyday to none. I've really tried to be aware of carbs. as i see this as my true problem. I've done surprisingly well there. Where I haven't done so well is sugar. I'm from the south and probably drank a half a gallon of sweet tea a day. I just can't seem to shake this. I decided to buy decaffeinated tea but still put sugar in it. I didn't add as much as I normally would but I still added some. I really did try. I spent a ton of money on Splenda, which was disgusting in tea. Would not reccomend that. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has had any problems in this area? What did you do? -

Thanks I'll try that. -
I was sleeved on Aug 27th. I've spent much of the week worrying I was messing up and not doing right. Went to my appointment and I lost 33 lbs. I'm beyond excited.

How Did You Feel The Day Of Surgery?
Imjustmee replied to fallingwhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon does the procedure as outpatient. I was walking as soon as they rolled me in the room after upper gi. I was slow to wake up from anesthesia but other than that didn't have any troubles. -
You shouldn't feel like it's too hasty if it's what you want to do. Ask questions become informed about your options and move at a pace that's comfortable for you. No need to second guess yourself. Congrats on taking the first step. This community is a great resource for you also.

Congrats enjoy the journey and keep the positive mental attitude. It will get you far.

Okay I have a question. I love milk and bought some lactaid to drink. Can someone please tell me is that an okay thing? Does it help to fulfill daily liquid needs? I am so over crystal light packets and sweet fruity drinks.
-
Everyone seems to be on a different schedule and diet. I would advise you to ask your surgeon what they reccomend.
-
Today is day 11 for me.

Can anyone tell me if it's ok to have lactaid during the liquid diet? I don't know if I'm lactose intolerant yet. I absolutely love milk and just need that taste. I looked at the ingredients and even the low-fat versions have sugar. Is this ok? Also I'm southern and need my sweet tea, or at least something to cure that craving. I bought decaf tea and splenda crystals to sweeten it. Is this ok as well? I have asked a lot of questions this past week. I'm just trying to use any resource I can get to be successful.

I was terrified. I was sleeved last Monday Aug 27th. Its almost funny now how much of a basket-case i was. My nurse was really helpful at reassuring me. All of the staff said they would be more concerned if i wasn't scared. It's a pretty big deal what your doing with your body so some concern is normal. Try and think about the future and all you have to look forward to. One of the other patients who was being sleeved the same as me was a smoker. The nurse told her to just wait 24 hours and she could smoke again. Now I'm no medical professional and don't really have a clue, but I do remember her saying that.

The Head Hunger...
Imjustmee replied to Ready4success's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had head hunger like crazy. Just wanted something with flavor. My roommate made a can of progresso minestrone and I had some of the soup part. It totally helped. Salty, seasony, awesomeness. -
I got a little adventurous last night(my first on mushies), and stopped at taco bell for pintos n cheese. I ate like 3 bites and was trying to figure out how I would know if I were full. I stopped eating out of fear and seemed to be hungry in no time. So tonight I reheated them and started eating, waiting a few minutes between bites. Was able to finish the entire container and still not sure I'm full as I don't know what that would feel like. Is this normal? Most of what I've read people are eating baby spoon-fulls of food and filling up. Advice?

Does Our B12 Have To Be Sublingual?
Imjustmee replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it means taken as a whole pill not diluted etc. -
Congrats!! I was sleeved on the 27th. I refuse to weigh myself until my 2 week post op next Tuesday. I have also found I don't crave sweets either. Odd for me considering I was always making some kind of cookie or brownie.

Rumble In The Jungle......
Imjustmee replied to slimmom24angels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My roommate made progresso minestrone and it smelled like heaven. I had him strain out the broth and I ate that. It was one of the best things I have ever had. Probably because I had been on liquid for two weeks but it was awesome. -

Aside from sf jello I cant think of anything that's not dairy, ie yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat etc.
