Does your insurance require you to have one or two comorbidities? And if only one are you on meds for the bp? I know every policy is different, but some require you to be on meds. It's like being pre diabetic or a diabetic whose disease is controlled with diet. My insurance doesn't consider it a comorbidity if you do not require medication for it. Call your insurance to find out the requirement for your plan. Then decide what to do. No reason to go through all the hoop jumping with insurance if it won't be covered.

  7. I would definitely call the office manager and let him/her know that there has been a problem. Tell them the whole story starting with the original submission of your paperwork to now. And just let them know you need to know if there is some sort of problem. So you can follow up if there is. I know you don't wanna stretch this out by going to someone else but they don't have to know this. There is definitely someone above this coordinators head and that is where I would go. If this is a hospital program there is a long line of administrators above her. And every hospital has a hotline for complaints. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. MAKE SOME NOISE GIRL!!!!! Edit: let them know about the coworker that state the program the same time you did. I would share all the details.

My surgeon told me that they just aren't good enough for us. I know alot of programs say that they are but compare the labels to the complete adult vitamins. ASMBS Bariatric Nutrition Guidelines say to avoid children's vitamins. I just am not comfortable taking a chance with my health by taking the children vitamins. I personally now someone who took children's vitamins and by the time her docs found out she had a vitamin deficiency she had irreversible neurological damage. But of course listen to your surgeon and do what you feel is best for you. We are our own best advocate.

    PPI has anyone stopped?

Decrease the dose slowly so you do not have rebound issues and have to restart the PPI. Try every other day, then if that's ok go to 3 times a week, then 2 times a week. Finally stopping all together. If the acid reflux comes back see your PCP for further follow up.

    Panicing About Failure...

This is still a new surgery. There still are no real long term studies. 5 years is the longest study I have seen. I believe it will be close to the same statistics as RNY. It is all up to the individual. It's up to you and your habits. It's not a magic cure all for obesity. It will always be up to you and how much work you put into it. You have to use the honeymoon phase to totally change your lifestyle. You can't go back to the same old habits and expect a different outcome. If you don't change your habits and lifestyle you will regain. Guaranteed!!!! But you can do this!!! It's just a commitment you have to make to yourself and stick to it. Your giving yourself the gift of this tool,,,use it. It's up to you!!!!

Feeling not so awesome, 4 weeks post-op!

The feeling you have when you get up quickly could be orthostatic hypotension. It's when you blood pressure drops hen you stand up. Causing lightheadedness and dizzy feeling when standing. Start taking your bp sitting and then stand up and take it. if it normal when sitting and then drops when you stand this is part of the issue and report it to your PCP. You need adequate hydration and more protein. Increase your calories. Definitely add the b12 you can get it at any Walmart Walgreens or cvs. Or injections at your PCP. B12 deficiency can cause a long list of issues ranging from low energy to neurological symptoms. But if the issue continue see your PCP. And the feelings your having of being ill prepared for the effects of this surgery is normal. You may wanna follow up with your psychologist if those feelings don't pass. But know its normal and you are not the only one to have ever felt this way. Just make sure you follow up and don't let it get out of hand. You can do this and it's gonna get better. Just take it one day at a time!!!
