Developing acid reflux after VSG
SuNMooNStaRS816 replied to amandalynn76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did the nexium not work or were you taken off of it? Did you ever take anything else for this? What did your surgeon do for these things before u ever progressed to getting pneumonia? This is scary? -
You should not take calcium and iron supplements together, because mixing the minerals may reduce the absorption of iron from your intestines.

How often did you speak with them before your part work was submitted? At the beginning of my process I called them to get all requirements and they told me the bariatric nurse would call me back. I talked to her the one time. She told me she would call me every cpl of months to check on me. I also called to ask her some questions I had and had to leave a voicemail and she also called in the hours I said I wasn't available. I got the information from my insurance coordinator at the surgeons office so I didn't attempt to call again. And to date I haven't heard from her again. Should I be worried about this? Did you speak to the nurse on a regular basis thru the 6 months or just at the end? -

Anxiety Centering In The Stomach--2 Years Out

With it being first thing in the morning, have you considered low blood sugar? You need to have your fasting blood sugar checked. Of course there are many things that can cause this. I would talk to your PCP and have some labs done and go from there. -
Surgery gone wrong...lost 7 units/pints of blood.

It's about accountability and making sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. -

Request your records from the hospital. Specifically the surgery report. And yes speak to a lawyer, preferably a reputable one and not a ambulance chaser. A good lawyer will review your case, and tell you if you have a case or not. Make a complaint to the hospital, if for no other reason to make them accountable for there lack of considerate care post op and to make sure they have guidelines in place to prevent this from happening again. You could have died. Would have if your husband had not stood up for you. If they had sent you home like they were planning you would have died. This is serious and they should be made accountable. -

Celebrate makes really good chewable vitamins. www.celebrate.com Wellesse makes the liquid form and they are approved for bariatric use. www.wellesse.com Both of these companies will send you a free sample if you request it. I have difficulties swallowing big pills anyway. Just afraid after surgery it will be worse.

Has anyone had a conversion from sleeve to gastric by pass ?
SuNMooNStaRS816 replied to sprinkles13's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just take it one day at a time sweetie. It's gonna get better. You will be fine if they revise your sleeve to bypass. And you may be ok after some time with your sleeve. You just have to decide what's best for you. I know it's hard to make any kind of decision when your so sick. When hubby comes back make him curl up with you. That always makes me feel better. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!!!! -
Something stuck in my throat?
SuNMooNStaRS816 replied to Molly3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I forgot not all docs let their patients take pills after surgery. Call you physician and get them to prescribe a PPI. they may just allow you take the OTC caplets early. Cause it sounds like that is what you really need. It keep us updated!!! -

You were looking for someone to tell you it's ok to ignore your surgeons instructions. Sorry you didn't find that. We aren't doing you any favors by enabling you. But that's how we all got here by not following our good sense concerning our diets. Just be careful. -

Try a PPI instead of Pepcid. That is an H2 blocker not a PPI. They don't work the same. Prevacid Or Prilosec OTC work if you double the dose. Then taper to once a day. If those don't work you will need a prescription. And of course if it continues yes an EGD will need to be done to rule out a stricture. Hope it all gets better soon!!!! -

Are they doing the revision because of Acid reflux? I saw in some of your other post you were having that also. I know they will revise the sleeve to a RNY for severe acid reflux but I don't know about your other issues. I would think you would have the same issues with the bypass. If all o your issues are being caused by reflux then I understand that. Just curious. Sending prayers and good vibes your way!!!! -

Are you have symptoms of a stricture besides this? The symptoms of a stricture include: CHRONIC VOMITING OR REGURGITATION OF UNDIGESTED food, EXCESSIVE WEIGHT LOSS, UPPER ABDOMINAL OR CHEST PAIN AFTER EATING. If you are I would get it checked out. Are you having excessive acid reflux. If you are it causes esophagitis which is inflammation of the esophagus. With that you do get a feeling like something is stuck and you can't get it down. Feels like a pills of a piece of food is stuck. -

Maybe I will call optimum tomorrow to clarify.
