I did months of research and decided in 2007 to have a lap band. I was preparing to have it done and my company was bought out and I was transferred to Texas. I didn't feel I had the support necessary to do it so I put it on hold. In September 2011 I lost my job and found a new on e in California. I decided it is now or never for some type of surgery. I am 3000 miles from my closest friends and family and cannot afford for my diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol to get the best of me.

I did more research - this time on the sleeve. It seemed the better way to go so I scheduled a consultation on August 15, My surgery was on September 10. I am now trying to settle in to a new routine without food as a focus. Since my initial consultation I have lost 18 pounds to date (9/13/12).
