Hello, my name is Sara and I'm 9 months post op from VGS. I had wanted WLS for a long long time. I have struggled with weight my whole life. I was always picked on and made fun of all through school from elementary all the way to through high school. I have dealt with a lot of mental/physical abuse from my parents growing up and my soon-to-be-ex husband. For the longest time I didn't love myself because I figured if your parents don't love you, then why should I love me. For far too long I had this negative mentality and put up with stuff no one should ever have to put up with. I finally decided to do something for myself and get my weight under control with surgery. Little did I know that just that one decision would change my whole world. I now have more self esteem than I have ever had in my entire life and I love myself. I don't need anyone else to love me (well, except for my kids) because I love myself more than anyone else can. I'm so glad that I finally decided to do something for myself and I'm truly proud of all my hard work that has gotten me to where I am today. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me and my boys! My boys are my world and I hope that I can instil some good self esteem in them so they don't go down the path I did. I talk to them all the time and always tell each one of them how much I love them and how proud of them I am.
