Some ppl like to be brutally honest. It validates their sense of self-righteous superiority complex. Sometimes such much insensitivity can be hard to ignore even for the most thick-skin. It's not about being afraid to post out of fear of a reality check but not wanting to associate with negativity that is unnecessary harsh. Honesty is not interchangeable with rudeness. -

You look fantastic. I totally understand your comment about existing and not living. Now you have the opportunity to live your life unhindered and to the fullest. Keep up the good work. -
I call this the Judgement Sleeve Talk. Whomever dare to go against what the Saints Would Do shall be condemned. That's the vibe of this site lately.

How did I learn about WLS? Commercials and ads. From there I researched. I didn't need anyone to give me a testimony. They're living in the Age of Information. My sister told me how are cousin is on FB telling everyone she lost weight through diet and exercise. We know from my aunt telling my mom that she had an additional tool (Gastric Bypass) to help her get there more quicker. Did her not telling my sister or I about WLS stop us from finding out about it? Nope. We're related but she is not obligated to tell us or anyone else her personal business. That is a attitude of entitlement.

Yep I've always been a prideful person but since I'm not religious it holds no negative connotation with me. Lucky for me I don't use others as a moral compass for guidance. Their principles and values are not standard for society. Besides YouTube this is the only social media I participate in. Over sharing is not something I do and privacy is very important to me. But I don't think less of ppl that do or that I'm more moral because ppl will tell anyone their business. -
Even among obese WLS has a stigma attached to it. That something I recently learned. As for me. Except for family members none of my friends know how much weight I gained in the last two yrs. They only seen me at 10 and 15 lbs overweight. I moved out of state for a few yrs and stayed in contact through phone calls and emails. For them to know how far I let myself go is too much for me to express. I'm not the vulnerable, soul bearing type anyway. Besides I already know how negative they see fat ppl. A few has called me fat before when we got into arguments. Not to put them because I've said hash things too. The ones we associate with know what buttons to push. In the end its no one business. It's a private matter. No one has the right to know unless you want, not obligated, to inform them. I've never asked a stranger or someone I know a personal question expecting they have to tell me or I'll feel mislead or deceived.

Tuesday I went to Bariatric Surgery Information class. I learned that I won't have to go to my pcp for a referral. Once I meet all the requirements I call them and they will do the referral. I'm beyond ecstatic that I will not gave to ask my pcp. -

Ok I didn't know there wasn't a ER at every VA center nor veterans who live far from one. I've told my pcp once about getting WLS ( In MX) and she said they could do the after care. She was my doc before I got switched to a non supporter of WLS. As for civilian hospitals, I don't know the protocol. Sorry I couldn't be of help. -

There not going to turn you down because you are a veteran. Just register to get VA health care and than get the surgery. Your pcp will do the blood work which is all required really after WLS. If anything goes wrong the VA Center has a ER. I've been to it before. -

Wow, she was way out of line. Doctors need to check themselves. There is a line between informing your patients about the risks with anything they want to discuss and giving their biased non medical opinion about it. WLS is a great tool. And with more impressionable and malleable patients than you and I would get discouraged. Good that your looking for another pcp. We need support from our health providers not judgment. I hope this won't delay the process for you. -

Unprofessional Or Within Professional Guidelines

The only reason Im going to these classes is because its required to get a referral for Bariatric surgery. At that Intro class was the first time I encounter the stigma associated with WLS. After reading so many posts on this forum about I shouldn't be surprise. Even my PCP there seemed against it. He said no, no, no do MOVE, it works. When I just starred at him he then said I have to lose 10 % of my weight first. When actually it's 5%. To avoid encountering more bad attitudes toward WLS Im going to switch to TeleMOVE which is 82 days. Hopefully after I complete the program my pcp will do the referral. I'm just worried that he won't do it. I never thought a doctor would be against WLS. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. -

Thanks for the confirmation. It was driving me mad thinking about it. In the information folder given there was a sheet on when their monthly education sessions on Bariatric surgery options. It's by appointments only. She supposedly wrote my name down but now Im going to call for confirmation. What a shame when you can't trust the person you need to because of their own bias.
