Just one of the many variations I guess. I was offered paracetamol tablets day 2, but declined until I felt brave enough on day 3
-
I was able to take tablets (I break them in half if they're big) on day 2/3. I was surprised, but they go down easily. I had purchased a pill crusher just in case, but haven't needed to use it yet.

Mine are closed with glue also. And no drain either. Here's a picThey look good!

My incisions were sealed up with dissolving stitches and surgical glue. Anyone else have that? Had no drain. Was happy about that!
I don't know about the glue, but yes, I have internal dissolving stitches. Also happy with this - I scar easily

Boyfriend issues aside, I was glad no-one came in on the day of my op. I really couldn't have paid attention to anyone right after the op (or the following day).

I have this too. I feel it contract and then fee like I need to burp then there is a split second of pain. Idk what it is but it's been happening on and off. I think it's gas but maybe it's reflux? Anyone?Pain near your diaphragm? Sleeved same day as you and I get this also. I think it's probably residual gas loitering

I got home today, so 3 nights in hospital. Boy oh boy, I didn't get it easy either. I was so nauseous day of surgery, and still fairly out of it the following day. But I've been walking as much as I could - stalking the wards at midnight. Helped with the gas pain, which I had around my diaphram and under my ribs. Once it moved up into my shoulders, heat pads were good. Today I thought I'd have a try at yogurt - 2 licks of the teaspoon and I was done. Weird! But 4kg (8.8 lb) down in 4 days. Now to concentrate on water/protein I guess.

Thank you! I had these nerves before each of my kids too - "omg! What have I done?!" lol.

Tomorrow is my big day. Super nervous!

I went through a period of palpitations - sometime around having a c-section. I was really concerned, but they eventually stopped. It's strange isn't it?

I'm on the 14th too.......mixture of feelings right now!

When my son was a baby and being plied with antibiotics, the only thing that worked (for his mouth thrush) was a high dose of a good quality probiotic powder. Medications didn't touch it. I still give all the kids daily probiotics.

Where was your surgery? I've never heard of purée before 2-3 weeks.
My plan says to start purée day 4 ....

Hi all' date=' just wanted to say I have my date for July 5th 2013! Quite excited!I'll be on 6 week pre-op Optifast with optional salad/optibars, then two-three days nil by mouth post op, after barium swallow i can try Clear liquids a week, liquids two weeks, puréed/soft two weeks, solids after that! Plus it's no smoking at least 8 weeks pre-op.
[/quote']
Great to hear you have a date But why the stretched out post-op liquids phase? Is that your dr's normal routine?
-
And the nurses know! Thank you

No' date=' but I've heard good things about him. Good luck with your surgery. Was done by Dr Copp who was working from the same office one day a week, but only operates at Ipswich. I would have preferred to be done at Greenslopes as it is a great hospital. Let us know how you get on. Have you looked at thread called Attention! australian sleevers???[/quote']
Thanks My GP went to a seminar he held and was impressed with him, so.... That's where I ended up. I felt comfortable when I went to see him. I'm glad you've heard good things!

Hi. I'm going in next week for surgery with Dr Greenslade at Greenslopes. Has anyone any experience with him? Thanks
-
That's scary! I'd be put off by that too. Perhaps you might be able to find a good one by word of mouth?

Speaking from the female experience , it really isn't so bad. It doesn't take long to remove and doesn't hurt, just a slightly uncomfortable sensation. Not the end of the world

People that ask to see your license do not even look at the pics. They are looking for name and address to match. So disillusioning. I would dread going to the DMV to get a new license. Such a hassle. You look awesome and you know. So keep it up.It happened to me once, someone said "That's not you.". Uh, yes...... But I was about 20kg heavier than in the photo..... Embarrassing.

Ooooooh I won't be able to have chocolate in the house. I haven't had any for a couple of weeks. My son had a caramello koala in the fridge (husband bought it in to the house) and I thought "I'll just bite the head off." 10 minutes later I was back for the rest of it, and it made me feel like crap. Chocolate is just a no-go for me. I get a sugar high then want more when I come down.

Yes, I did for several weeks. And then I got sick of eating. I was shoveling in food and felt like crap. Since then I have found that I haven't been eating ridiculous amounts, and I'm making better choices now. I get sleeved next week.
Even though I knew I wasn't doing a good thing to myself, I didn't feel inclined to stop until I felt ill. And now I'm in a slightly more sane state of mind I realise that I have extra kgs to lose....bummer. I hope you can get it under control

I too had doubt from my mother, but she knows once my mind is made up....there's no point arguing. I understood that she does not understand the procedure and has not researched it. I did not have support from my husband - especially when it came time to hand over the $$. But I do not regret my decision for one moment. The only person who really knows how you feel is YOU. Don't let others change your mind if this is what you really want to do.
