Australian Sleevers- Anyone There?
ozeedonkee replied to deb1405's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, I have never been banded. I just couldn't get comfortable with it for some reason. But quite happy to have most of my stomach removed - go figure! I'm sorry to hear you had problems with yours my mother and sister have been banded with no problems (yet), but I have a cousin who had a slippage and know of several others with problems. One is on her 3rd band!! And yet m & s seem to think I'm extreme by going this route. I'll take my chances. There is another thread for Aus sleevers, which seems to be the go-to for us. Have you seen it? I'm glad to have another Aussie to go through this at the same time -

Should Wls Be Performed At An Early Age?

And yes I do think obesity should be targeted at an earlier age. I look around me every day and so many people are overweight. -
Should Wls Be Performed At An Early Age?
ozeedonkee replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 31 and will be sleeved next week. I knew about the lapband a few years ago but could never feel comfortable about doing that. The sleeve only came to my attention this year. I don't know that I would have been ready to do something like this in my early 20's. It's as scary as having a baby! BUT I have never been bullied because of my weight (I was not overweight until 17) or had major health complications - yet. I think there could be circumstances where younger people (18 or over) might benefit from surgery. I think you really need to have your head in the right place to do this. It's huge. -

I started getting it during my first pregnancy and had it most of the time for the next 5/6 years. I found professional deep tissue massage would relieve the symptoms but not fix it. I started seeing a chiropractor who fixed it almost immediately. 12 months later after (with no following visits) I am still sciatica free.

Possible Seperation And The Sleeve?
ozeedonkee replied to diamondkized's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Calling you ignorant and stupid because you want to be involved in a huge financial decision is UNACCEPTABLE. Actually - calling you that regardless of why he called you that is wrong. He has no right to do that. And I don't care how insecure he *might* be feeling. -

A really good massage can help give relief too. I used to get sciatica during and after pregnancy. I soon learned the exact spot that needed work - my buttock. After seeing a chiropractor regularly, I haven't had any symptoms since (and I haven't been back for over 12 months). I hope you can find relief

My mother is banded and belches. I mean belch, not burp. So much so that one of my kids must have thought it was normal and started pretend belching like Nanna.... I'm hoping it doesn't happen to me

ozeedonkee replied to jessfharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look fabulous! And one thing I noticed is that you look much happier in your after shots - keep it up, take care of no 1. (YOU), and let him go. There are better things waiting for you -

No Liquid Pre Surgery Diet? Is This Normal?
ozeedonkee replied to Dannysgirl2003's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
My only instructions are to fast from midnight. He said that my BMI was not high enough to cause him to think I needed to do a pre-op diet. I also don't have to do a swallow test....phew! -
I've just read a really good book which opened my eyes to my relationship - gave me a name for something I recognised was wrong, but just couldn't put my finger on. Also made me more determined to go through with this - regardless of what he thinks.

No way! I'd never call mine "hubby." But I'm not inclined towards calling anyone anything other than their actual name.

I LOVE having short hair. Mine is maybe 1 1/2 inches. It dries in no time, super easy to style. Perhaps when you cut it off you could look at it as a new beginning. Make it into a positive

*sigh* me too. We took out insurance 12 months ago specifically to enable a wl procedure, and now he is starting to make it into an issue. Plus, he's put himself on a diet and likes to tell me how easy it is to lose weight "the right way." In our case, I think it's a loss of control (over me) issue - so far he hasnt managed to guilt me out of the procedure. I am resolute - I deserve to discover "me" again, and the kids deserve it too. You're not alone, I understand your frustration

Lol I think I'm in the small percentage of people who didn't like it - definitely the minority. I like to be different Agree re Karin Slaughter though. Good books!
