spitting stitches
ozeedonkee replied to charissa70737's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my GP snip mine off. It healed up well after that........then I had another poke out just above the scar. After a good soak in the bath it came out completely. -
It's not too bad. I stir it up and add a bit of blackcurrant juice. But I admit, it did take a couple of days to get used to it. No big deal now
-
The chia seeds worked well for me too. I've been having a tablespoon (gelled) in a glass of water daily, although I'm going to halve this and see how it goes. I couldn't have a movement without a laxative, now I'm regular and no pain involved.

I had pureed roast beef and it was GOOD of course it was accompanied with pureed vegetables.
-
That was my date too. I've had a couple of weeks where nothing much happens. I just get off the scale and look at my face and smile because I *just* have one chin now I try not to let the lack of scale movement bother me.

Cheated and very scared/emotional
ozeedonkee replied to TXGIRL80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just a bit of practical advice for the OP - If you are going out, make sure you pack portions of stage compliant foods. I do this, and put a little ice pack in my lunch bag. If you don't have to go searching for something to eat, it removes a lot of temptation. -

I'm with the others. I was cleared for exercise at 4 weeks, walking only until then.

I was cleared for full exercise at 4 weeks, until then the recommendation was walking

I was told to just be careful with stringy vegies. Things like celery, broccoli stalks etc.

Turns out.....I spoke to soon! So, after 2 days, had a bm. Great stuff! Hopefully it'll become a regular thing now.
-
I've noticed that sometimes even though the scale isn't moving, my clothes have loosened.
-
It's absolutely normal to be scared. Don't let your co-workers speak for you, if you can dig through the fear you'll know if this is right for you. Hopefully your husband will prefer you to be healthy more than overweight. I was so nervous until the day of my surgery, then I somehow made peace with it. And I haven't regretted it once.

I'm trying hard to do this. I'm also letting the seeds gel. But today I might try 2 doses and really work on the water

Going home right after the sleeve?
ozeedonkee replied to Kris10b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I left day 4, which I think is fairly standard in Aus. I had a fairly rough anaethetic recovery, but I was happy to stay the 3 nights. Having been there, there is no way I would want to leave hospital 4 hours after surgery. At least by staying a night they can keep check on temp/bp etc -
What To Pack For Kids' Lunches?
ozeedonkee replied to smithpy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Some kids have sensory issues (separate from the physical/medical inability to swallow/eat. I don't know a lot about that), and are unable to tolerate certain textures/tastes. It makes feeding them difficult, and sometimes you just get in whatever you can - anything you can. My son has Down syndrome and has some sensory feeding issues. For example, he will not (cannot) eat bread, but will happily chow down on chalk or crayon. How revolting -

I confess I saw a picture of an American burger creation with about 10 patties, 50 slices of bacon, and same again of cheese - and all I could think of was how much I wanted to sink my teeth into it's greasy goodness. A serious case of eyes too big for stomach! Lol And I know better than to even ATTEMPT -
Thinking about doing the surgery!
ozeedonkee replied to Jlynn20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a huge step. I would suggest seeing a counsellor (who specializes in it) for a while before doing it. I know you've seen your mother go through it, so you already know what it entails, but just to ensure you are mentally/emotionally prepared for it. Because you are so young, really really make sure you are prepared. -
I haven't googled that particular plan yet. I do know I have to avoid the white, refined processed foods. So things like lollies, breads, baked goods etc will be on my try to avoid list.

A few weeks out, if there were times i felt I just couldn't stomach food (usually breakfast) I started making my own juice: spinach, cucumber, celery, carrot, ginger and green apple. It's delicious. But immediately after, peppermint tea was good.

leak test a must see video
ozeedonkee replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine didn't. He said he didn't particularly find them helpful. What might not be leaking at the moment the test is done, could leak afterwards. It didn't bother me at all. -
I couldn't read all that. What happened to the English language? OP - hope everything's going well for you
