    mad... a little :(

Amen to celebrate the fact that you've not had any stalls, you're doing awesome!! From the 6th month on, I've lost 8 lbs total in 3 months, EIGHT, not much at all, and I'm in a gym 5 days a week 50 min cardio, adding 3 days a week 20 min of weight training. I think our bodies just know when to let go of the weight and it's not when we want it but when it's meant to happen. Frustrating for sure, but 'this too shall pass' as the saying goes. Again, you're doing amazing!! Karen

    8 months out

Don't feel bad or discouraged at all!! I am now at 9 months out, lost 84 lbs so far, 10 lbs was pre op. So, since surgery I've lost 74 lbs at 9 months. As all will say, we are all different and lose at different rates, but we will lose!! I'm at the gym 5 days a week with 50 min of cardio and add 20 min of strength training to that 3 days a week. My weight loss even slowed down alot the past 3 months, but I just know we have to keep on keeping on, no other way around it, right? We might be slower, but you are doing awesome in my eyes!! Smile :-) Karen

  8. I think I'll ask myself that once I get to my goal which is still 34 lbs away. Once there, THEN and only then, will I think I would worry about getting too thin. Like others says, if I'd lose more than I want, I'll add more calories or even more strength training than I'm doing now. :-)

  13. I had mine in for the 2 days I was in the hospital. It was removed right before I was discharged, it doesn't hurt, just felt a bit weird.
  14. Not all surgeons cath for this surgery, mine didn't.

    Before ans after pictures

Thanx, it's still a work in progress, losing very very slow the past 3 months, and at the gym 5 days a week, with 50 min cardio each day and 3 days a week 20 min strength training. Just have to keep on, keeping on, and never let the slowness distract you from the 'goal'.

    Before ans after pictures

The first 2 taken in July 2012, surgery was 8-21-12, last picture taken 5-12-13, total loss from 1 week prior to surgery is now 82 lbs. Hope the pics come across properly, this is the first time I'm attaching pictures to an email. Karen

    Average hospital stay?

I had surgery on Tuesday at 9AM and went home Thursday around 9AM as expected. If no complications I was told 2 nights and that's what it was.

How much weight loss to expect?

Highest weight was 249 lbs My height is 5'5" Weight on surgery day was 236 lbs Surgery was on 8-21-12 (so another 1 1/2 weeks I'll be 9 months out) Today I weigh 167 lbs (weight loss slowed down ALOT after 6 months for me) My personal 'goal' weight is 132 lbs. At 6 1/2 months out I started back at the gym 5 days a week 50 min cardio each day and 3 days a week I add 20 min strength training. I have a labral tear in my hip so it prevented me from being at the gym earlier on, with injections it's now kept the pain at bay. But, even at the gym the past 8 weeks rigorously, the weight loss has still been slow. My total caloric intake is between 700-900 calories a day on gym days and that's with subtracting what I burn off with cardio. On non gym days it's typically around 1000-1200 calories those days total. My surgeon said to expect to lose 60-70 percent of the excess body weight....although I'm hoping to lose all of it, we shall see. And, as everyone here always says.....'don't compare your weight loss to everyone else, we all lose at our own rate, we all hit stalls for weeks and weeks on end, it will come off". It will be a commitment to keep it off, some think once they lose they will never regain, ummm not true, you can regain, so keep track and God speed!! Karen

    How long ?

Mine was 1 to 1 1/2 hrs surgery time alone. Maybe they are counting the 2hrs you have to be at the hospital pre op and the 1 to 1 1/2 hr recovery room time, that would total 5 hrs.

    medical id bracelets

As with everything, each surgeon has a different answer. My surgeon said there is no need for sleeve patients to have med alert tags, so I never got one.
