    Watermelon

Once I was on 'regular' food, which was at 4 weeks post op, I had watermelon and cantaloupe every day!! Not sure how far you are out but for me I did not have any issues.

    Time Off Work.

I took 4 weeks off of work, but my job is not sedentary only. I am running around all day, so due to that the surgeon suggested I take 4 weeks and I am glad I did. Everyone is different. See what your surgeon would suggest for you.

    What Are You Eating Tomorrow?

I'm cooking, and I'm 3 months out today.......so I'll be eating a little bit of everything. And as most people have said, a little is all that will fit anyway. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, enjoy your families and your 'new' you!!
  6. If done laparoscopically, as mine was, my surgeon said I could drive the day I came home from the hospital (2 days post op) as long as I wasn't taking the prescription pain meds. I took the pain meds for 2 days at home, and then drove the next day. So, I drove 5 days post op.

    Hypothyroid And Getting The Sleeve

You're welcome, Michelle. And, yes I am so excited. The first few weeks, I wondered what I had done, BUT after that it's been such a blessing, best decision I ever made!! You'll do great!! Karen

    Hypothyroid And Getting The Sleeve

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in Feb of 2009. I gained around 60-70 lbs in a few years and could not take it off and keep it off. And that was above the weight I already had to lose. My thyroid levels are controlled by synthroid since then but the weight just would not come off. I had surgery on 8-21-12, 3 months ago and am now 54 lbs lighter than I was before. I took off 10 lbs prior to surgery, so 44 lbs lost since surgery. I'd say it also was a big concern of mine, wondering if it would make a difference with my weight still having hypothyroidism, and having the surgery. I am SO happy that I followed thru with it, it's life changing. Best of luck to all of you who have thyroid issues!!!
  9. I only lost 10 lbs pre op. That's what my surgeon had asked me to lose. I lost 8 of that doing the 7 day full liquid diet prior to my surgery. And, I even had 4 months from my 1st surgeon visit til I got thru their program before surgery. I wasn't very successful at losing weight prior to surgery as you can tell.

    Is There A Christmas Challenge

There's a New Year's Day Challenge, I think, and that's only a week later than Christmas. Search for that thread and join in there. Good luck!! I did the Thanksgiving Day one and will be 5 lbs away from the goal I set. But, at least I lost, it's hard to guess with stalls.

    Solid Foods !

Every surgeon is different, but at 4 weeks out from my surgery I was allowed 'regular' foods again. The first 2 weeks were full liquids, then 2 weeks soft/pureed.

    Rough Timing

And, just think.....next year you will be able to have some turkey and maybe a bit of stuffing or mashed potatoes, or green bean casserole.... like a spoonful!! You will be full much faster, which is a great thing, but you can still enjoy the holiday!!

    5 Months Sleeved

Congrats, and you said it......PRICELESS!! You look fantastic!!
  20. I've had 4 C-Sections, and the VSG is nothing compared to the C-Sections. Very minimal discomfort is how I'd explain it rather than pain. Walking helped, so walk as much as possible. I was in the hospital 2 days and went home with liquid pain meds but only took it once one night I couldn't get comfortable to sleep. As mentioned above, I too slept in the recliner in the hospital, I was just more comfortable, and when I got home I kept 2 pillows under my head due to the reflux. You'll do fine, I am sure!!

When Were You Allowed To Eat Nuts?

I was allowed at 4 weeks once I was on 'regular food'. All surgeons have their own schedule. I was 2 weeks full liquids, then 2 weeks pureed/soft foods and at 4 weeks was allowed to have a regular diet. I never had a problem with them, and am now 2 1/2 months post op.
  24. Amazing change!! You look great!! Thanx for sharing!!

    Hot Chocolate

Drinking a cup of sugar free as I type, I am 10 1/2 weeks post op, but had it at around 7 weeks out. It's chilly in PA as well!!! It's great on a chilly night for sure.
