How Long After Surgery Did You Wake Up?
VSG Duck replied to lucky8mb1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The first thing I remember after surgery (Versed is great at causing amnesia so I could have been awake much earlier than this) was wakeing up in recovery room just before they took me back to my room and the nurse saying " your O2 saturation seems to be ok now so we are going to take you back to your room." I was so weak I felt like I couldn't even open my eyes. When I get back to my room I find out I was in recovery for 4 1/2 hours! I still felt very weak (ie not able to move my hand) for several hours after surgery. Since this is not a typical reaction I intend to get a copy of my record and see what happened I recovery... Who knows, maybe I had a reaction to the muscle relaxants or I am just a light weight LOL -
Gallbladder Removal During Vsg
VSG Duck replied to ArcusX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definately make sure both proceedures are on the consent you sign and you OR nurse/staff verifies this with you prior to surgery I would do both proceedures at once. Two birds with one stone. The surgeries are techinally similar and near each other anatomically. Your recovery should be about the same... Better than getting to do it all over again I had an umbellical hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve and am glad I did, although the pain from this was different than for my sleeve -
New Sleevers With Little Ones?
VSG Duck replied to Gettingmylifeback11/2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was sleeved my youngest daughter was 14 months and I asked my surgeon specifically about picking her up. She said it was ok as long as I had her come up to me and held her tight against myself as if she was part if my body, but not to bend and pick her up. I tried not to pick her up as much as possible but when I needed to this worked well. My incisions healed well. You may want to ask you surgeon about this ...? -
I work in surgery (nurse) and our hospital has a Davinci robot that we use for many types laparoscopic surgeries. The advantage of the robot is definately increased dexterity and maneuverablity especially in hard to get to areas... The surgeon sits separate from the sterile field and controls the robot... the surgeon still is the one controlling the movements, so, like any surgery the outcome ultimately is still dependent on the skill of the surgeon and their team

November 12 Surgery Date
VSG Duck replied to tocinoe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I survived without food funerals by telling myself when ever I had a strong craving that this would not be the last time I would eat that food. I just won't be eating it right now. I don't plan on going around eating potato chips and other such food often, but, when I reach goal if I have a strong urge for chip I will have one or two (only after my protein and veggies.) -
Calling All Nurses.....

That's hilarious! Just imaging myself "stashing" my little liquor bottles around occasionally sipping alittle under my mask during a case! That would go over great! -

Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?
VSG Duck replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in Food and Nutrition
Ok, this maybe a stupid question but how is having a chunky soup different than a small amount of water while you are eating? Both are soft ground up foods with liquid... -
Ha! I love it! You should have been an OR nurse... You should hear our diner conversations So I was sleeved on 10/10 ( doing great) but I never had endoscopy. Do your surgeons do these on every pt or only ones with certain pre-existing conditions?
