Popcorn dangerous after WLS?
RJ'S/beginning replied to FieryRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is definitely a slider for me....I stay clear as much as possible...Before on other diets it was recommended to eat it because of the low calories if plain and the crunch and Fiber..Now I can eat 3 cups full without blinking.....So I only have it on occasion okay 3 times since my surgery... I love it more now then I did before...but it is a no no for me... Now theater popcorn..that stuff will kill you...Have you looked on the web for the ingredients in the butter in that..It isn't real....it is pure chemicals...just wondered if you knew that..... -

We walk, we stumble, we fall, and then we get right back up!!!!!! So this happened to you sooner then you thought it might. Or you thought you had it beat or that it would never happen to you.....You are facing it head on..And admitting to it right here for us to read and encourage you to go forward.... Two things you need to know: 1 it will happen again, and 2 it is all in your head. Habits die hard and this is a tool to give you time to fix what goes on in your head.. That is the hardest part of all of this..Changing how we think and finding out why we got here, why we needed this surgery...We turned to food for comfort..That became our normal! It will take a lifetime of being careful, making mistakes and finding out who you are...That is the nature of the beast... Dust yourself off and get going. Today is a new day. Yesterday is gone...You got this hun......... -

RJ'S/beginning replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please drink some G2 Gatorade and some Vitamin Water....After a year out I still drink 1/2 water and 1/2 G2 every day. Don't forget what goes in must come out and you are not putting a lot in there so you won't go as much...You can use a stool softener and it will help..Use a mild one....Once you are on solids or even mushy food that will increase..... The reason you went so much before was because your body was pushing out what it could not use..... In the future you might want to look into a bran something..I eat bran every day now and it has helped me a lot....Some would say not a good idea because it is a carb...But I hate not being regular..And i am now!!!! -
oh oh oh guess what!

Okay...January 1, 2013 I weighed 345 lbs. Now January 1, 2014 I am 198 lbs That's a total of 147 lbs last year, wow!!!!!!! Before that I would not even had been able to lose 7 of those on my own.... How much did you lighten this world up in 2013? What makes you grateful for your WLS? Mine is that I can walk for hours. Hold my granddaughter close to my chest. Buy clothes at a regular store. And best of all no one knows who the hell I am when I pass them on the street, I no longer stand out in public!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Don't you think it is so true though...I wear Xl, L, M....in clothes depending on the make..And I hate it!!!!!!!!

I Lost ******* in 2013

Why were you in the hospital for 2 months? You lost an incredible amount..You must be thrilled!!!!!!!!! I had a leak right after my surgery. I was readmitted within a week of my sleeve surgery. By then I was already septic with abscesses in my abdomen. Didn't help that my dr was out of town and while I was already readmitted, they didn't do the first corrective surgery for another week. There were a lot of bad decisions made by my doctor that delayed my care and recovery. It has been a long hard road and I am grateful for every day I am here. I spend a tremendous amount of time in the gym and still working towards my goal. While it didn't come easy I am happy that I have lost as much as I have and still working towards my goal. You and i have something in common...both of us had complications with our WLS. I too had a leak which lead to me becoming septic...I was in the hospital for 5 months...13 surgeries and even now over a year later I struggle with my health....so I understand what you have been through.... I know this sounds odd but it is kinda nice to know that I am not the only one who felt that kind of pain and darkness through this journey..... I too am glad to be alive...I almost died too..... -
