  1. I waited 4 years for my sleeve...I just tried very hard to keep it from my mind until I got the call saying I was up next...Then things happened fast....they wanted to make sure I was done before 55..In Canada some surgeons won't do the sleeve after that..Instead they do the by-pass
  2. Thank you and for all of your answers! Your awesome and a real trooper on here..I admire your strength!
  3. Beach lover you got this.....your doing great kid!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I body building site said no higher then 100....the 110 kills the enzymes but not the Protein.....That's what I read and the guy is a nutritionist....
  5. I looked this up on a body builders site..Maybe it will help: Heating up Protein will not have any detrimental effect. Heating up enzymes (protein catalysts) will most probably denature them and destroy their function. Unless you wish to ingest functional enzymes (not likely) heating up a Protein shake is totally fine.

Why does excess weight make you look older?

I feel in myself that losing a great deal of weight has made me look years older..Maybe it is because of what I went through I don't know. But I look in the mirror and see an old lady...Just a little younger then my mother and she is 80.....crap!

    I feel so depressed

Living in Canada...you do deal with the need for comfort food during the cold days of Winter...But you can take those hardy meals and make them sleeve friendly.. the problem a lot of us have is SD, because of the lack of sunshine...Vitamin D helps and it can help lift your spirits and bring you back to feeling normal instead of the blas!!!!! I hate winter and suffer because of it...I fight, fight and fight some more.....As long as you are fighting you are still alive and moving..... Not perfect either but know I can get moving on the right path after I make a blunder and we all can!!!!!!

    Any last minute advice?

When you get there and you panic..And think in your brain that you must get the hell out of there before it happens.....Asking yourself why you are doing this and having second thoughts... Breath deeply and remember why you are doing this...Relax and let it happen...might as well as you want it done, so don't waste your time panicking.... All the best..Keep us posted...K
  12. I regret not having enough knowledge of the emotional, physical, mental strain that this puts on your mind and body...That even though I searched this surgery for 2 years I went in unprepared for everything that could and did happen to me...i thought I was ready and knew it all... I know now that unless you are here fighting each and every second of this journey and admitting that you are learning as you go....Your lying to yourself............. Regret it.......no! Glad i did it..YES..........Would do it again.......For sure......... Somethings you just never know until you experience them yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!

    first of many NSV

Wonderful NSV..I too love my leather jackets....Keep up the pace ...Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. They used to have a lackey holding your stomach up so they could get to the liver...Now they have a scoop..It is narrow and it holds the liver in place while the surgery goes on....if your liver is too big it can slip and he might cut you accidentally ...It is all for the good that we shrink it before surgery....
  15. Your a success story..Congrats...Keep us updated with your progress eh.....

    You look awesome.....

    9 pin no tap

And right there is the problem...You wish you had done it on your own......... Well this is where fixing the head comes in...You really need to go deep to find out why you used food as a comfort....It is the same as any other addiction except we still need to eat so it makes it that much harder.... You called this " cheating " really...You had to go under the knife and have them remove most of your stomach and bring you back where you could eat 1 cup of food a meal and you call that cheated.... I think using the word control is also a sign of a big problem...In life we can only control our own actions, not the actions of others....If you are in total control then something is wrong..Life is not about control it is about living it free of the desire to fill a void with food..... I am so happy for you that you are successful. But I feel that you might not have looked deep enough to find the answers to the issues that got you where you were..... Congrats on a great weight loss.....

    Still some pain

    Your welcome...

    Still some pain

No doubt in my mind that the band you are wearing around your middle is making you uncomfortable...Your incisions need air to help heal them and your body is still swollen from the surgery..... I was told by my team not to wear those until I started to have extra skin...It would cause problems in the long run if i wore them too soon....Everything is a process...... Hope this helps!

    How am i doing?

Relax, calm down, breath deeply...This too will pass... Your body is a magnificent machine and it will stop you from losing when it feels threatened..That is normal..It will store fat in tissue until it decides you are not starving it and then it will release it again.... Keep doing what you are doing..Do not cut calories and Protein. Keep the Water going..sip sip sip..... 2 months and you have lost 30 lbs a months and you are freaking out!!!!!!! Come on when have you ever done that before.....You should be ecstatic at the very least!!!!!!!!!!

    Success/Failure

It is not really what you want that is the issue here..It is what is best for you..Your health and well being....Many are successful with any of the WLS options. I chose the sleeve because of nutrients being absorbed a little in the stomach as well as both intestines.....I had also hoped that the feeling of hunger would go away and it have a lot...But not all! I chose the sleeve because it was permanent and I could not go back to where I was before unless I really worked at it.. Comparison of Bariatric Surgical ProceduresThe following information provides an overview of the differences between surgical weight loss options. Only you and your doctor can evaluate the benefits and risks of weight loss surgery and decide if it is an appropriate treatment option for you. GASTRIC BAND (REALIZE® Band*) GASTRIC BYPASS SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY Procedure Description The REALIZE® Band* wraps around the upper part of the stomach, dividing the stomach into a small upper pouch that holds about ½ cup of food and a larger lower stomach. The degree of band tightness affects how much food you can eat and the length of time it takes for food to leave the stomach pouch. In this procedure, the surgeon creates a small stomach pouch and attaches a section of the small intestine directly to the pouch. This allows food to bypass a portion of the small intestine. During the sleeve gastrectomy procedure, a thin vertical sleeve of stomach is created using a stapling device. The sleeve is about the size of a banana, The rest of the stomach is removed. How it works to help you lose weight By creating a smaller stomach pouch, the REALIZE Band* limits the amount of food that can be eaten at one time, so you feel full sooner and stay full longer. As you eat less food, your body will stop storing excess calories and start using its fat energy supply. By creating a smaller stomach pouch, a gastric bypass limits the amount of food that can be eaten at one time, so you feel full sooner and stay full longer. By bypassing a portion of the small intestine, your body also absorbs fewer calories. As you eat less, your body will stop storing excess calories and start using its fat supply for energy. As you eat less food, your body will stop storing excess calories and start using its fat supply for energy. How it affects digestion Does not significantly affect normal digestion and absorption. Food passes through the digestive tract in the usual order, allowing it to be fully absorbed in the body. Reduces the amount of calories (in the form of nutrients) that are absorbed. My hubby has always liked me in hats...And right now it is a fashion trend to wear them....I have gotten several now and wear them out when ever I go anywhere.... He smiles and smiles when I wear them now and so I just purchased 3 more.........They are felt and cool!!!!!!!! What is next I wonder... My daughter tells me that I have a plan of how I want to look when this is over whether or not I know what it is..And so I am slowly working towards it.................I wonder who she will be at the end of the weight loss...
