Week 6 an no motivation to change to full foods
RJ'S/beginning replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just work slowly at this point okay..Start with things like shrimp if you like it or chicken. add a little cooked veggie to it and a couple of mouthfuls of carbs....Put your fork down after every meal and even if you need to measure your food out...when your fork is down chew chew chew...!/2 way stop and just look at your plate....Pay attention to how your stomach is responding to the food put there..See if it tells you...Gives you a sign to stop eating..Some people their nose runs..Others sneeze....You will find yours as well..When I do that most of the time I push the rest of food away from me and leave the table..... Eat where you can concentrate on what you are doing..No distractions okay....... -

Week 6 an no motivation to change to full foods
RJ'S/beginning replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure your just not afraid to test your sleeve and see how he purrs....some people are scared to death to go to the next step.....You must move on........You must get to real food and not depend on shakes or soft food to live on.....It is all part of the journey..... So off you go and plan a nice chicken supper maybe with some veggies on the side. You will stall as your body may start to think that you are not feeding it enough....K -

Where is here?
-
Yup..........If you were any other way it would not be normal..... Don't do it though unless you are not ready for a big change in your life! Your on the road to big and better things and improvements to your life and health...Not the easy root though as the surgery is a tool not a fix it all now.............Lots of work to do and lots of fixing your head to do..... It is so worth it....but right now panic is so normal...All the what ifs!!!!!!!!!! You'll be fine!!!!K

Wow.........I am so sorry for everything you have gone through..Life sure can be a B***H sometimes and we get caught in the middle.... I am hoping that you will get yourself on track but you have to feel what you are feeling..Grief not only for this surgery but the grief of losing your brother......This is awful!!!!!! I admire your strength tremendously.........I am sure as things feel a little better you will get back on track...... Make sure that you feel everything you need to feel to get through these devastating setbacks and in the meantime....Be good to yourself and watch caloric intake.... Lots of Water too helps a lot..... I wonder if I was in your shoes hun if I would do as well as you!!!!!!!!!!! Mt heart goes out to you.

Afraid to tell the kids
RJ'S/beginning replied to irishcailin68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While they are good intentions on your children's side..They don't know what you really feel or have been through in life to get you to this decision. That was nice of the one to say that your not fat enough but really...What does she know about what is going on under your skin?... You have your reasons for choosing to do this...If they love you which I think they do they will support your choices like you have supported theirs.. Don't let anyone stop you from fixing your mind and getting yourself healthier and letting the real person you are out...You have a lot of life yet to live....Your life your choices... Go get em!!!!!!!!! -

How many people took their husband with them?
RJ'S/beginning replied to BellaHugz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TY...I truly believe that if it was not for him and my daughter and 1 friend of mine I would have lost it seriously!!!! They stayed with me through it all and are still my biggest champions.......... I love them so much I can't believe it......When life totters on death..You really find out who loves you and who doesn't....I learned that real quick! -
I feel like I could have written most of what you said..Hang on there..you will figure it all out in time..So be good to yourself and just keep swimming....K

I remember a while ago coming on this forum and announcing to everyone that I had my first salad for supper with shrimp in it and that was my dinner...It seemed so unreal to me to do that since I was raised on a farm where food was a big part of life.... We had 2 different kinds of meat, several veggies, potatoes and a couple of Desserts...Fresh bread and lots to extras........ So i raised my kids the same way...Always had the 5 food groups in mind when I made a meal and almost always succeeded at it.... Now..fast forward 5 months since i mentioned my shrimp salad and now it is a habit almost...tonight I am having chicken and salad..And it seems normal to me.......I am looking forward to it and no longer see it as a big deal..It is just what I eat........ I hardly bake now and most of it goes in the freezer or hits the garbage can.........Boy I have changed so much since i was sleeved!!!!! This part...for the good I think!!!

Question about infection
RJ'S/beginning replied to SparkleCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is possible to get an infection around the staples as would result in a leak...In my case the tissue died where a staple was placed and I developed a stricture and became septic.... This is very uncommon after the first few months as your body heals and forms scar tissue around the staples..They become embedded in the scar and therefore form even a stronger line of strength protection. Leaks cannot be fixed with antibiotics...it is an aid but they have to drain it, repair it and let it heal.....there are several ways that they can repair it but I am not going into that right now... The chance of any leak in WLS is small and to have a lot of complications due to it are rare as well....most people do not experience any difficulties... Just follow your teams advice on how to work your new sleeve and it most likely will not develop complications! -
Went shopping for spring tees and shirts and bought some L and M...Came home all excited because I was preparing for spring....I tried them all on and 1/2 fit me now............crap..... I really wish they would have a size L and it fit anywhere you bought it..... I never try clothes on at the store either....Hate that..So I guess I deserve what I get.....bla, bla, bla~~~~~

It's all true except that with food addiction we still have to eat right...So that is where the retraining our minds come in to not over eat and what we are eating to be good stuff...Stuff that will support you wanting to be healthy and active and the person that is hidden underneath that fluff..... Your right...It is their problem if they don't like that you have done this and it is their problem if they cannot except the new you who have made changes to better yourself..... You look wonderful by the way.......Go get em!!!!!
