RJ'S/beginning replied to bngarza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am different then most people...I have to wait one more year before I can ride a horse...My bed sore is now closed but not healed and so the riding would tear it open again...I can't wait to ride a horse again...Have not been able in years because of you know...excess weight.... -

Happy... but I miss rice. I shouldn't, right?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Strangefruit's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
You will miss out on many things if you are not willing to try different foods and see what your sleeve can tolerate....I can't eat beef, pork, white chicken and have trouble with canned Tuna...I can't eat it but others on here have no problem.... You will need to explore eventually ...My nut says that we need balance in all things not abstinence....I am just saying this because food can get pretty boring if we never ever eat certain things that we don't even know if we can handle or not.... -

Happy... but I miss rice. I shouldn't, right?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Strangefruit's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I eat rice....I find noodles are harder to eat then rice...I always eat brown or wild rice..There are so many others too like red rice...good stuff...Anyway rice does expand in your sleeve. So you always have to take that into account....But i do eat it.... -

Met my trainer today..........Looks like a long haul!
RJ'S/beginning replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yikes I hope he doesn't kill me, but I do need to have a program to build up my muscle mass as I lost it when I was in a coma a year ago...Some has returned but not enough so it is where I am now...I don't expect to be a weight lifter just have a butt so i am not sitting on my tailbone all the time..That hurts a lot. I need muscles defined to look just normal..That is where I am at... I will never expect to look anything like I did when I was young or any body else for that matter....I just need some definition so people don't think I'm dying...lol -
Your telling me that you lost 138 lbs since last January....And your worried about not losing now...Your doing everything right except not exercising because of your health right now... Most people could not lose 138 lbs in a decade. Right now you are ill and so there is not a lot you can do with the weight issue except stay on track...Keep doing what you are doing and the weight will move....It has to! Try to get more Water in though as that helps weight loss. Stop being so hard on yourself and ease up on the scale okay...Get better and keep the program.....Don't falter! You got this!! I know it can become frustrating but really you have come so far...and most likely you will slow down and even gain a bit from time to time..But as it goes by your body will settle down to allow you to lose more....This is what I call a bump in the road........... I am sorry that you are unwell that just sucks!!!!!!! But you got this...And us too. We will be here to read what you feel and encourage you to keep on the straight and narrow. Not to lose sight of the goal line...That will be how you get the strength to push through this rough time.... So far so good..138 lbs is nothing to sneeze at....you got this...just keep swimming okay!!!!!!!!!!

Beware of Hot Dogs!
RJ'S/beginning replied to sherri428's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love how you used the word MAY never eat a hot dog again...For one thing you are not far enough out to be eating that kind of junk..lol Secondly the spice alone would back up and make you throw up... But like I said, you used the word May....That means that later on you may try it again. It reminds me of all the medical commercials on TV. It might, It may. It might possible assist.....you know and then they quickly list all the side effects and you think...man if I took that the cure would be worse then the problem I'm having..... Too funny... -

From my Osteopath, who works on scars to soften them so that there will be less strain on your skin and organs and muscles if they are pliable....One part is connected to the other part in our bodies and it can have an effect on our system if not looked after.....
-
I use caster oil on my scars..It is the only thing that can absorb into the scar and treat it from the inside out as well as the outside..It makes the scars lighter and softer.... No photo's though....goodness!

She didn't recognize the old me
RJ'S/beginning replied to indecision's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My grand daughter was the sealing point for me regarding WLS.....She only sees me as I am now..not the old me...I love it too... Very nice NSV....You look awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Get some G2 and mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with water and sip it until it is gone...If you start to feel better you were dehydrated..And it would be good if you did this on a daily basis to keep your electrolytes up. i am 14 months out and still drink G2 every day for this reason....K

beyond furious with Humana
RJ'S/beginning replied to kyleebean's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow!!!!!!!!!! That is horrible!!!!!!! -
Well some people drink it anyway..But this is how it was explained to me by my nut on Monday....No matter how flat you make soda it still contains bubbles...If you make it a habit drinking it then the bubbles expand in your pouch..Eventually, actually in a very short time you can stretch your pouch out and eat more which is the exact opposite of why we had these WLS done. She told me that the first red flag that goes up for failure is someone drinking pop of any kind!!!! If you do it once then and it does not effect you you may do it again and so on and so on and so on....Until you stretch your pouch!

Dehydrated
RJ'S/beginning replied to Amanda Nicole Hosaflook's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GET some G2 Gatorade and drink 1/2 G2 and 1/2 Water..If you do this every day it will help your dehydration....It builds electrolytes.... I don't understand why they don't tell people about that....Saves you from going to emerg for dehydration....K -
Am I stretching my pouch?
RJ'S/beginning replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dense foods fill your pouch faster and you get the feeling of fullness from it. More liquid like food like yogurt you can probably eat more....But there again should you!? If you make it a habit to over eat you will in fact stretch your pouch. But not your pouch really. A bulge will form in your large intestine at the bottom of the flap.....Our body is resilient and accommodates us even when it is the wrong choices...So you would feel hunger again and be able to east almost as much as before...But is that the goal? No! The goal is to fix the issues that caused you to become an addict. fix the mind and fix the body..they go hand in hand... It absolutely does not come down to who can eat more...it comes down to success and learning the triggers and having the will power and courage to change...That is why it is called a journey not a sprint... The pouch or sleeve give us the opportunity to get it done before our stomachs do relax. Fix our relationship with food and putting it in the proper place is a real success story.....K -

Dreaming of success, literally.
RJ'S/beginning replied to HumanMerelyBeing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I am not into interpreting dreams but I love where you went with that one..Tell me were you thin in the dream? When I dreamed in my life time I was always thin. Don't know why but it is true!!!!!!!!!!!! -
It is funny but I never use the word stall...I use the word rest!..body at rest.... I never experienced one stall so far or gain either...2 reasons. I don't weigh myself that much only every 1 or 2 months...As I hit goal I will have to switch it up to once a week to keep track better. But for now...nope! I believe that the body is a magnificent machine and will protect itself from invaders and extreme circumstances.. like illness. it goes into shut down when something drastic happens to it out of the ordinary...Reserves its strength and restarts the regular flow of life when it feels safe... Our body's are like a huge city. Everything works because it is in unison. One thing is connected to the other..When something changes that, it takes defensive action and grinds to a halt.... Once it realizes that things are okay and it is being fed and all is well it starts up again...And lets that change happen until next time it is threatened.... Isn't the body amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I think so... First it made do with the extra weight that we constantly put on it and adjusted so we could carry it and live with it and keep moving..Mind you not at full capacity but it held its own... Not until it could not take it anymore did it do the same thing... Shut down our metabolism and went into protecting itself.... Don't worry about these rest periods..once your body feels safe it will start the engines again and travel forward with weight loss until it feels threatened again... Incredible isn't it that we are made this way!!!!
