You are not going to lose much more if you keep your caloric intake there. You need at least 900-1000 calories a day. Mostly Protein. There are times that even at 17 months out that I have trouble eating enough. Other times I could eat more then I should if I chose to do so. But you..Your body will stop you cold if you don't feed it. Try a Protein shake after a few almonds 15 min. apart. Take in a Protein Bar....You have to eat more so your body is fed well enough to feel safe and drop the weight. Your metabolism is slowing down and your body will fight you.... This is fact......okay..Do it for your overall health!

Watching people eat......
RJ'S/beginning replied to danika1118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You think that is tough. Wait until everyone stops eating and stares at you as if you were some kind of phenomenon. and then you get irritated because you want them to stop it. Then there will be a time when you look around and will start seeing them all eat and you will think..What I eat this much and am alive.. What are they doing to themselves.... Right now your experiencing this..Later it will be turned around and you will be so pleased you have your bypass protecting you.....trust me!!!! I say it all the time about my sleeve..I am so glad I have it!!!!!! -

the ultimate goal is 60 gms of protein. Right now your tummy can't take that in with meat solids... You still need help!! K -
What happens if you dont drink protein?
RJ'S/beginning replied to lmdx0sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope not at this point. You still need assistance to get your proper amount of Protein in. Put Protein powder in sugar free pudding or yogurt. You will get to the point where you won't need it as much. But not yet. If you take your calories down too far..You will stop losing. As your body will shut you down. Protein is the building block of this program and if you don't eat enough then your hair will fall out as well. The sleeve is healing but not quite yet. Okay! -
New to the site

In no time at all I went from a size 8 ring to a 5.5. Even when I was a teenager my fingers were a 6. All of my rings are too big for me... It is sad because both of my wedding rings cannot be sized because they have designs on them...Right now I am wearing a fake diamond and wedding ring. I really don't know what to do. I have tried wearing some different ones together but the rings just twirl around my finger..... They are in my dresser.... -
Seems to me that you are right on track.... Don't use the scale so much..It is your enemy. You are geared to lose weight so it will happen when your body allows it...Try to up the Protein a little more so that you won't have too bad of an issue with hair loss. The small amount of calories can and will make your body believe it is in distress and it will protect itself.

Did something dumb

We all have it is just the part of learning. You'll get to know how to treat your new bypass.... -
I cried like a baby when John Candy died. He had heart trouble and went everywhere with his family because he felt he could not take the chance that he might die without saying good bye... I liked John Pinette too. But when John died I thought at any moment I will die as well for the same reason. Complications due to being overweight....

A question post menopause ladies!
RJ'S/beginning replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in The Gals' Room
Thank you so much for your reply....i too am not ready to give up the fun of life. In fact I have found after my surgery and somewhat success that I am more willing to play then ever. I appreciate your candor. -
Okay so they tell me I am post menopause and half way done. I hurt like he double hockey sticks when we ( hubby ) and me are having sex. I am told by the surgeon that I have to take an estrogen pill each night for 14 days insert into vagina. The 2 times a week there after. I just got off the phone with my sister who said she had the same thing and took the cream instead and a year later she had breast cancer. Her Doctor said it was most likely caused by the cream... How does anyone else deal with this if you do. Is it really likely I could get breast cancer from this? If you have the problem and don't take estrogen for it. What do you take or do? Now I am concerned about the possibility of cancer. My Surgeon said that the stats have not been conclusive for this type of estrogen studies...So far they have messed up the findings and it has gone in favor so far that woman are not getting cancer this way of taking estrogen because it is not going through the entire body but is directed to one spot... Anyone!

Stick to it. Put that scale away and wait it out...Your body is protecting itself from you. It stops and stores when it feels threatened. Just keep to the program and it will start to move downward as soon as the body feels safe... Wonderful machines aren't we....

Reactive Hypoglycemia After Bariatric Surgery
RJ'S/beginning replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It has nothing to do with cup cakes. It has to do with not being able to put enough complex carbs in your sleeve sometimes to make things work properly. One thing my nut told me is that if you had it before in the past it can rear its ugly head again after surgery. I started having this when I began training ( exercising ). I had no idea that it would happen to me. Every other issue seems to have leveled itself out. But this one came on hard and fast. So now Like @@cheryl2586 I have to eat something 6 times a day. the episode I had last was so bad I passed out. Scared the S**T out of me. My nut told me that it does not happen to everyone but some. Yes it can. I like others are informing that this is a possibility! Cupcake indeed! -
Five more pounds lost and now unaccounted for.....Don't care.Don't want them back! YES!!!!!!!!!

Eating everything but the kitchen sink
RJ'S/beginning replied to AR40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People often have a food funeral. I know I did. what I didn't realize that I can eat just about anything I want in smaller portions then before. I have a few things that hate my sleeve but I can live without them. I kept the funerals to meals only. Had this and then the next day that. I felt it was necessary. In a sense your fears are starting to surface but they are unwarranted. The reason we are where we are is because of food addictions and so we turn to it in times of crisis. Pull back, breath deeply and have a treat at dinner if you have to. The more weight you gain the more you will have to take off after surgery. That just sucks. But I understand why your doing it. There is a whole new world waiting for you out there. It is time! I almost always am thankful for my sleeve. It helps me to not over eat anything that used to be my favorites and yet I can still enjoy them in moderation and balance! Stop the fear and go forward. You got this! K -
congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

Repetitive and Circuitous Topics....
RJ'S/beginning replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Rants & Raves
I will try not to bore you with my comments. And I won't take your comment about the others personally either. But I will say one thing and hope you understand this....When I am done here I have no plans to run away when things get a little to tough to handle or I need to have a break. I plan to stick around and help some who really need to be helped. Just like others did for me. Ouch by the way. Slap! -
I didn't dump though that is the thing. I did pass out and felt like I had the shit beat out of me for 2 days. That my nut said would happen as well. The thing is I don't think it is talked about much on here and it is something that happens to a lot of WLS patients...Scared the shit out of me let me tell you!

Repetitive and Circuitous Topics....
RJ'S/beginning replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Rants & Raves
Only you could get this kind of attention from the most simple of statements: Here try some of these in place of the dreaded journey: Verbs travel, voyage, tour, trek, fly, sail, go, sight see, cruise, roam Nouns: trip, voyage, expedition, ride, drive, flight, passage, excursion, crossing, tour, trek, outing -
Have you been to a Chiropractor or an Osteopath. Both can assist you with back pain better then a temporary fix of an anti inflammatory! Just wondered!

slow weight loss
RJ'S/beginning replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
each one of us are different and we lose weight at a different speed. What may work for me might not work for you. But I can tell you this. if you stay away from unrefined sugar and drink your Water. lean meats and veggies or complex carbs. Stop when you feel full which would be about 1/2 to 3/4 c right now. You WILL lose. You have to. Your geared for it now. The honey moon period is still in your favor. You are under 18 months out. After that it is work. My advice is stay on the program and stay off the scale. Talk to your dietitian if you are worried. If you are eating under 900 to 1200 calories a day your body will stop dead. It will take measures to protect itself from starving as long as it can. That's the beauty of our amazing machines..... Message me anytime okay I am here and will do my beat to help you K -
I would worry about dehydration. Get some G2 and drink some to keep your electrolytes up okay. And for a while drink 1/2 of one every day as a type of maintenance. 17 months out I still drink a 1/2 a bottle diluted into Water...1/2 and 1/2.

Soon you will be past this part and you will start the second stage then the third and then the weight will start to come off and then you will get used to the new way of eating and working on the emotional part of why you did this and the excitement of becoming a healthier new you. the journey will be here forever you have just begun... Don't stress. It is all going a long fine right now..You are on track....sip, sip and sip some more as long as you can do it and every day it will get easier.

Vets: foods you personally can't tolerate?
RJ'S/beginning replied to NMJG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
5 weeks out and you are eating all these things with the sleeve and tolerating them. Oh my goodness. you are taking some chances girl. Right now you should still be on mushy food about to start solids. Not all those solids but ones that your stomach can easily tolerate. If it is okay with your team or surgeon then I guess It is fine...But if it is not you are taking chances with your new sleeve which if course is complications. Please be more careful. Trust me you don't want complications.
