RJ'S/beginning replied to carrion98's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Please get this abscess looked at ASAP! so that it does not burst and you go septic....Right now I have a drain that is trying to collapse a pocket on my left side under my rib cage. Been there for 5 weeks now....Hoping it will be a success soon! -
How much did you weigh when....
RJ'S/beginning replied to snowkitten's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am 169. 5'8" and I range from a XXL to a 12. Depends on the label. I think that's okay because when I started out I was at the biggest size you could buy at any store....Okay the last store I could even shop at.... I have not had plastics yet and those in the know tell me I will be a size 6...That scares the hell out of me...i have no shape at all right now and won't when they are done taking the skin off. i am a string bean.....For a girl that sucks... Now they have upped the clothes sizes. What used to be a 10 is now a 12. Even in France this has happened because they are becoming Americanized in their eating habits...... I know this because when I taught English to a couple French designers they told me of the new trend there. Will we ever be happy with who we are, as long as we are no longer obese......I wonder that all the time! -
I don't know. it takes time to recover and build up again. Your going to get it all back. Have patients little one... I was in a coma for 19 days as a complication of this surgery and I can no longer sing at all. no longer can reach the high notes due to a trach. Be glad you will get there and very soon.. I did not make my living singing but it meant the world to me to be able to sing....

Is My Honeymoon Over?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to tell you this but the honeymoon period was over quite a while for you! It is usually the first 6 months of the sleeve....you have been going it on your own for quite a while now and have been successful at it as well. I am too trying to lose less now and feel kinda lost on how to keep it at bay....I am keeping the meals in check and hoping that with a higher caloric content at them it might level me off..Will see though...Dang this is hard sometimes! -

Monster in my belly?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Q2theT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very, very, very normal behavior. You must remember that someone went in there and cut out 85% of your stomach. Wouldn't you be a little monsterish. I know I was. Not to mention all the crap they put into your body. It has to come out and of course they put air in your system to blow it up so that they could get to your stomach. Soon you will get gas. And air coming out of both ends and then diarrhea. then you will be able to drink more and then you need G2 to help with Electrolytes, or coconut Water. And on and on. Don't forget buyers remorse....Some fun eh Bambi!!!!! Just don't let it get you too upset. It will all pass. And soon you will be lovin your sleeve. I promise!!!!!!! -
These should do the trick..Coconut Water or Gatorade 2. Keep the water intake as well as you are but add these or even one of them to it and it will help. Coconut water is a natural electrolytes in it. G2 has it as well.... I drink 1/2 water 1/2 G2 myself 19 months out!

you are the first person ever to say that my hubby is fortunate to have me as a wife @@cherbear33 Most see the hardship that he has endured with all I have been through. And I see it too. He is the strongest man I have ever known and I have fallen in love with him all over again over his strength and kindness for me. It was very sweet of you to see it a different way...Thank you..You brought tears to my eyes!!!!!!!!

Aw..thank you for your kind words..I too see you as a friend!

6 weeks out, tired, grumpy, & I miss food
RJ'S/beginning replied to ChavaBling's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry, but your venting made me laugh..So many things that we all experienced and the buyers remorse shining through your complaints. Hold on kid it is going to get better. I promise you. Life is going to start to hand you some pretty cool experiences called NSV. And then you will say I am so glad I did this. Mean while it takes time to get used to all the changes and rules..of our new life style. But it will become very manageable for you as well as routine very soon. Take the time to really enjoy exploring new foods that would be interesting to try. And then for sure you will have conversations about food. The whole reason you had this surgery in the first place was because of your addiction to the chemical reaction in your brain and lack of self control while enjoying the chemical reaction in your brain. But if you learn to make good, nutritional choices and make them tasty. There will be lots to talk about and you will be helping your body as well. I am never hungry either and have not been hungry all along...If i did not have Reactive Hypoglycemia I probably would not eat as often as I do and then I would be smaller then I am now...... Trust me girl it will all come together and you are going to be so proud of yourself!!!!!!! -

Succesful Plateau (If that makes sense)
RJ'S/beginning replied to nomorejellybelly's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats on your compliment. It is nice when someone notices your hard work in a pleasant way.. -
I wouldn't do that right now if I were you. Ice cream is not considered a liquid. It is a mushie level and one to be careful about as it is a slider. When you are over all the stages and can really control how you view food. I would try it..But alas that is not right now...Your new tummy is very sensitive to anything right now.. Please follow your surgeons advice and do not alter his directions okay...

Thank you..that means a lot to me... Your a sweetheart for saying so!

My dog Max had to be put down last night....I am so broken hearted....can't stop crying. A sad time for me.......

you guys need a thirst quencher. Try Gatorade 2 or coconut water..Both make you feel satisfied and both have electrolytes in them to help with hydration.....
-
Thank you for saying that I have been a help to you in your own personal journey....

If you don't like what I have to say, then unsubscribe. I was also morbidly obese and now I'm just plain 'ol fat after having a sleeve. I'm determined to be normal and walking 3-6 miles a day has turned my life around! I'm trying to share my success with my fellow fatties, plumpers, obese individuals, or whatever you call yourself. Walking is the easiest and one of the most effective forms of exercise. So is sex! My belly doesn't get in the way anymore! Dam, why didn't I think of that....Great advice..I think it would be good if we all unsubscribed........Bah, ha, ha, ha!
-
Hey you could have worse problems.....Keep up the water drinking..So good for you!
-
You're not walking for me, your mother or your doctor RJ, you're doing it for yourself. Set your own goals and take advantage of the opportunity bariatric surgery provides all of us. OOPS your right I did not write my intention as clearly as I should have. I meant I am not joining in your little dare to walk 30 min. a day. I don't like the way you called us former fatties...By the way..I am not in denial either.. i was morbidly obese...I except that and that means I was really fat.I get to call myself that by the way...But I take offence if you call me that! But I don't think I need to be reminded by you or anyone else of this forum. Like others I come here to get away from those who take cheap pot shots but I try to encourage those who ask for help........
-
Excuse me..I am a vet but do I need a note from my mommy to say why I can't participate in the 30 min. walk for us WLS patients... Wait a minute I can speak for myself.. I am under strict orders from my surgeon to not do any exercise until they pull this drain from my side....So I think I'll pass and try to set my own goals when I am well enough to reenter the exercising world... Boy do I miss it...I felt so powerful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been called fatty, obese, tank, whale, gross, lazy..on and on...Didn't like it then. Don't like it now....It does not make me want to walk for 30 min. for you....just saying!
