Tale of a bariatric diet goody-two-shoes...
RJ'S/beginning replied to Teachamy's topic in Rants & Raves
I keep things like burrito's in the freezer for those days. Oysters and multigrain crackers. stuffed chicken breasts..things like that. But I enjoy cooking now more then ever...(She puts her head down while she writes this so to avoid the pillow being thrown at her!) I go in spurts about veggies and crave different ones. Like right now..Cauliflower and radishes...can't get enough. I cook maybe 4 times a week and always have plenty leftovers to last.... You know on Pinterest there are baked doughnuts recipes that you can try..... Me I would just eat the doughnut! -
I was starting to enjoy the fact that I had a little more room to eat what I wanted to off my plate at meal time. I even managed to stop sneezing or having a runny nose. I wasn't even concerned that I may be eating to much because I feel that my body needs to take a break from all the crap that has happened to it and just see where I land. Well, restriction is back and so is the sneezing and runny nose when I eat a few bites. My personal alarm system has kicked in again and my stomach hurts so much if I push it and eat one bite more! Hoping I don't lose more weight! I was told last week by my surgeon again not to lose another pound. He even pointed his finger at me... What nerve..LOL Interested to see how long this will last this time....

Restriction back with a vengence
RJ'S/beginning replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No your right. I never saw it coming. You could have knocked me over with a feather the first time he told me that....For over 30 years I was encouraged, yelled at, humiliated over weight. But never ever in my life time was told to not lose anymore....Surreal eh! -
newly sleeved and reaching out...
RJ'S/beginning replied to Angi~2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suffer from severe anxiety and chronic depression. I worry about staying at a good weight, reasonable weight. While everyone's battles are different. This one we all have in common. We all fear regain. And or failure at this program like all the others. But it does not have to be that way. We need to always be watchful regarding intake and put Protein first. Veggies next, fruit and last but not least carbs. Drinking our Water 64 oz and exercising as often as we can 3 times a week is balance. More then your my hero! There will be times the scale is mean to you. But I personally found that if I did not weigh myself, only at appointments with my team I never had a regain. Or experienced a stall. I am sure they happened but I never felt them or saw them personally. The scale is an enemy and it triggers fear and the possible anxiety of failing. I feel that it can cause us such fear that we can give up on our goals. As long as you are following the above outlines for intake..You should lose the weight! And no doubt will. What you are doing is wasting good energy on bad. When you feel that way. Go for a walk.... As my mother used to say ' blow the stink off.' I believe negative feelings that take root in our minds stink and should be cast aside. You got this and you have us to help you a long the way. Don't hesitate to put your feelings out there. Write them down and start to log the non-scale victories that happen to you. It's all good! Just keep your eye on the prize and keep swimming! okay -
Post Surgery Blues?
RJ'S/beginning replied to BandedSister_Lizz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone gets down now and then. don't forget your body has been through surgery. There is stuff in there that needs to come out....your also somewhat swollen and feeling tired. It will pass as you start to regain your strength. Then as the weight starts coming off you will really start to be happier. Robin Williams that is just sad. I have felt bad since I read it as well. It really makes a statement about depression in my books. Will miss the funny man! Time will make all things better. But we will always experience happiness and sadness. It is part of the human condition! -
Member rankings. what are the different levels. how many posts
RJ'S/beginning replied to Rovobay's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Yes it is how many posts you make. Except for when you are a vet which is someone who is over a year out of surgery then there is a forum for them to discuss similar issues. Otherwise yup! -
So many times, so many times I have wanted to retaliate and put so called butt heads in their place. I applaud you @Chelenka. It is time for you to stretch out and make the world know your there. Sticking up for yourself is something that most of us that have suffered from obesity have hung our heads and walked away as if we deserved such treatment. Jack Arses like him deserved it. He probably treats his girlfriend like that! Good for you! I no longer let it ride if I am near it or it happens to anyone anywhere. No matter what I speak out!

Surgery 9/2-Anyone else have Sleep Apnea? Kinda Nervous.
RJ'S/beginning replied to BeenGym'N's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It wasn't until after surgery that I found out I had sleep apnea. They will monitor you very carefully while under. And after! Will not effect your surgery. -
Do you go to a Chiropractor?
RJ'S/beginning replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go when I need to. But I see an Osteopath every week because of all the things I have gone through. He is helping with the scaring and muscle pain and the damage I have had happen to my organs..... I believe both have a place in our over all health. -
Wonderful feeling eh! Congrats!

I have found that no matter how much research I have done that I still am finding out new things about the WLS situation. Mostly because I am experiencing them... ( no pity please ) not trying to whine either. What I am trying to say that unless people with personal experiences don't come out with it how can you possibly know everything about the good the bad and the ugly of WLS. I personally have found that the surgeons leave the possibles out unless you have them.....just saying!

Here in Canada we call them GP's General Practitioners. And NUTS are nutritionists. Like the USA
-
I was surprised to hear from my sister who is considering WLS that they are testing her metabolic rate to see why she did not lose weight on a carefully monitored diet. What the nurse and nut told her was that if it is off then it would make no difference if she had the surgery or not. That that had to be fixed for her to lose weight either way. I thought wow, they can fix that!

Keep us informed..Soon you are going to be a loser like the rest of us!!!!!!! lol

RJ'S/beginning replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup it happens. Time to dust off the cook books and healthy-anizing them.....I remember those days. I ate a lot of cottage cheese and cheese and more cheese. Then I started to take recipes and turn them around. I am still doing it. Made fish cakes last night. Hubby liked them. I did too. Had that and raw veggies with a dip. 600 calories. your going to stop losing and go into body at rest. Maybe that's okay because you are almost there. But this too shall pass and you will once again want to eat....Goes in cycles I find. -
Get some coconut water and drink it. It is a natural hydrator. Anything like G2 Gatorade would help too. They will give you Saline at the hospital you can do the job by either of these products...

Does anyone have anxiety in general
RJ'S/beginning replied to alyce's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I suffer from depression and anxiety. I had hoped like I have for years that maybe the surgery would lesson it. I do feel differently but I still have bouts of both and it did not lighten up in the least. And like @@moonlitestarbrite retraining your use of food for comfort will be hard. But you can do it I promise!
