Will i loose my big girls?
RJ'S/beginning replied to chibabyy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Down 116 lbs in May.....don't know what I have lost since then because I only weigh myself when I go see the team that looked after me......I have gone from a 48DD to a 44D.....I am losing the girls fast and it doesn't bother me in the least..I did not like having huge boobs ..All you need is a handful..K LOL -
It is recommended that you eat 3 meals and 3 snacks daily....I only eat 3 meal and 1 snack....I hate feeling full all the time so this is what I do.....A Snack is a small amount like a 1/4 cup of nuts.....Forget it....for me....I just eat when I am hungry and that seems to be 4 times a day.......

Restless Leg Syndrome
RJ'S/beginning replied to JennyBeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my surgery I had a bad bout of restless leg syndrome....My Dr. put me on Co-Pramipexole .25 mgs.. It made the difference right away...This med is used to help people with Parkinson's but is also used for this problem... I never slept for 4 nights in a row and it was affecting my recovery.....This worked... I have to take it for 6 months as the Dr. feels it will ease up after that...I am enjoying the time with out that horrible feeling in my legs.... -
I started to eat salads at 6 months out....My Stomach couldn't take the raw veggies.....Now 8 months out I eat salad and raw veggies with dip......good stuff!!!!

I am 8 months out...Spent 5 months in the hospital because of complications with the sleeve...I am still dealing with issues and a nurse comes every day to help me.... Would I do it all again...YES.....I would..... I am a different person....there are so many things I can do now that I could not do before...I wish I had been done sooner as well...Complications and all it was the right move for me!!!!!

I have heard that we shouldn't dye our hair for 6 months after surgery - is this true?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Beachbum2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had the opposite of all of you.......I had my hair colored 2 weeks ago and the color did not take....I am silver at the temples and wanted so badly to color that.... Because I was on heavy medications for 5 months in the hospital due to complications with the sleeve..I face this issue....All the meds pass out of your pores and hair...So it can be an issue for some... When I was in the hospital I also lost most of my hair...So now it is starting to come back because I eat Protein and take Biotin..... My hair was so long and colored blond....it was beautiful...Now it is short and gray..... This is just one of the things I am dealing with...but like the other person said ....Some have problems others don't.... All the best! -
Post op complications
RJ'S/beginning replied to Nursebarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This probably won't make you feel any better...but.....I was in hospital for 5 months for my complications with the sleeve...8 surgeries and now I am finally on my way.... A couple of weeks and your back and going again....I am not minimizing your problems...I think it is good to post these kinds of experiences so that people understand that sometimes it is not a hop, skip and a jump to weight loss for some... I hope all goes well for you..... -
An observation: I know NO ONE that has wls...
RJ'S/beginning replied to marfar7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only told a few people...most of my family does not even know that I had it done......It was supposed to be a hop, skip and a jump and then I would be on my way.....but after having difficulties and being in the hospital 5 months...It was hard to keep it a secret... I flubbed the surgery by skipping the actual surgery and talking about some of the things that went wrong after...This happening after minor stomach surgery...That is what I say and no more..... Have heard 3 times that I took the easy way out from professioal people who should know better....Can't imagine what my family and some friends would say...... -
Does anyone never weigh?
RJ'S/beginning replied to aliekat55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only weigh myself at the Dr's office every 6 to 8 weeks....It has always been a big surprise and I don't obsess about the weight coming off...I concentrate more on the eating part and will leave the weigh ins for the team that did the surgery in the first place... I never weighed myself when I was fluffy so not about to make it a daily thing, weekly or even monthly.....I have always believed that scales are for fish.... Go by how you feel and how you are fitting into your clothes......You will be happier! All the best; -
BM question. I know... Sorry!
RJ'S/beginning replied to AddryW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be a good idea for you to take a stool softener.....You should be having a BM every 3-4 days....... -
I weigh myself at the Dr's office about every 6 weeks...If you weigh yourself too much then it gets scary..Every day is just asking for disappointment.. I never weighed myself when I was really heavy and now I am doing it this way so that I don't get worried about all the little things ........ I feel so much better now and am working at the pace my body is dictating........As long as I follow the plan and remember that the sleeve is a tool..I know it will come off!!!!! All the best!!

Try mixing your G2 Gatorade half and half with Water....That is the way I drink it and it has a mellow flavor and I am still keeping my elrolites up. The dietitian told me that G2 is good for you...It has sodium in it but not enough to cause problems..... At 7 weeks out my stomach was really sensitive.....You doing great to be getting in 30-40 grams of Protein..... I am 8 months out and still cannot eat pork or beef....Tried last night and I hurled it up (pork) Everyone is different........Just go with the flow and it will get better....trust me K

I am having the same issue..I keep looking at clothes that are way to big for me and expecting them to fit.....My Hubby is the one that shakes his head and says no that won't fit you......I have dropped several sizes and when I look at a blouse I am wearing now I can't believe how small it is...and even though I am wearing it ...every time I go to put it on...I say inside my head that this is way to small...We are so used to the bigger sizes and our brains are still on that track.....enjoy the shopping but don't buy to much as you will be out of those in no time flat!!!!!

I had a lot of difficulties with my sleeve surgery ....and so when I came home I needed a nurse and still do every day......I spent 5 months in the hospital and am now 3months home........so eight months out of the first surgery.... Saturday a nurse came that had seen me the first week I got home and then saw me again this Saturday...she did not recognize me at all... She made me tell her my full name and my birthday.....I thanked her for being so kind and she replied....I am not being kind...I'm serious I do not know you.... Today my regular nurse came and she told me that the other nurse marked in the log that she did not know it was me...See she said I am not the only one that has noticed the huge changes in you.... Then she told me that she was very proud of me....I am their first patient that they have ever seen who has had the sleeve...They knew nothing about it until I needed their help.. It made me feel so good that I have come this far.......Good girl Jane...I am proud of myself....LOL
-
Sounds like a good snack to me...remember though that you are eating a snack not a meal...so enjoy a little and don't stress it.......if it has a lot of sodium...be careful k..... Your doing wonderful.....all the best to you!

10 days post-op--shouldn't I be dropping pounds everyday?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Paradise Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
scales are for fish......Don't weigh yourself so much...once a week is okay...once a month is better...you get a big surprise when you do it once a month......400 calories a day is not enough .......you will stall your loss by making your body panic....and hold your weight....Your body is designed to protect itself and it will...once it notices that you are still eating it will release weight again.... Protein drinks at this stage is still a good idea.....bring the calorie intake up with protein....drink Water as much as you can which helps flush out the crap that they put into you when you had the surgery... And most of all....you are now geared to lose the weight and it will happen at the rate your body chooses.......Enjoy the weight you have lost and be proud of yourself for the care and choice you made to do this for yourself.... Best to you..... -
I am 8 months out and still belch like a sailor...Drives me crazy....But I was warned before surgery that either you purp a lot or you fart a lot.....I would rather burp myself... Drinking liquid at first is difficult but as your sleeve heals...You will almost be able to drink like you used to...except not as much in one drink The rule for BM is about every 3-4 days....A stool softener will make all the difference.....
-
I got dehydrated one week after I came home..I did not even know that was the problem....My hubby ran out and got some G2 Gatorade and I sipped it for a bit and found it worked well on my dehydration...Weeks later I still drink it....I mix half and half with Water and it has kept me hydrated....... Along with juice and tea and water.......But you are right, I used to drink a lot more water before surgery then I do now...The G2 has made the difference for me.....

I eat pita bread stuffed with tomatoes and dill pickles, cheese and and turkey breast meat..... I only can eat half a pita...but it is light and tasty......I look forward to eating it. when I do..... All the best!

need some words of encouragement
RJ'S/beginning replied to nlbossert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone loses weight at a different speed...if you were doing a regular diet they would encourage you to lose only a lb to 2 lbs a week..... 26 lbs are gone...that is great...... Make sure that you are eating veggies and fruit as well.....I use fruit as my Snacks.....and not Protein....How much Water are you drinking as well...these things help... Remember that you are on the way down.....the speed doesn't matter..it is how you feel about yourself and that you are getting healthier..... Don't lose hope, keep the goal in mind....it will come! All the best!!!!!! -
Hi; I am 8 months out and have noticed that if I wanted to I could eat more...I have made a choice not to eat refined sugar, watch carbs and eat veggies and fruit. The thing that I find helpful is that I am very selective as to what I eat....I use the sleeve as a tool...But now I only eat the things I want to eat and will not touch stuff that does not appeal to me.....It has upped our grocery bill alittle but that is ok...The new me is now way more fussy then before and now I enjoy every bite..... Down 116 lbs and still going.... All the best!

Well I have been told yet another time that I took the easy route to lose weight. One of my friends lot 48 pounds while I was in the hospital for 5 months and could not wait to show me how she worked at it herself and did not take the easy route like I did. The a nurse tells me that I am not responsible for the weight I have lost because the hospital made sure I took the easy route Yesterday a surgeon said that people who don't have surgery are better off because they earn the weight loss that the work hard for...the easy route is what I did..... I have had enough of this statement...but do not know how to respond to this comment other then smacking them up side the head.... Any one have any idea !!!!
-
Thank you so much for your comments.......they mean a lot to me.....seems that most are in agreement to slap them up side the head....if only I could.. The surgeon has shares in a weight loss clinic where we have termed the guy as the " diet Nazi" He puts people on a painful program that uses mental, and emotional abuse to force them to lose the weight......I have been humiliated enough through out my life because of my weight...I am not going to go and get it done on purpose..... You are all right.....this is a life changing decision and I work on the mental and physical part every day....... Your all wonderful..thanks!
