No one is interested in judging you.....But you cannot get enough food in to keep your Vitamin deficiency up. It is imperative that you take them.....Exercise is exercise I guess.... But you will feel even better about your new life if you do what you have set out to do..Become a stronger healthier you. Plan ahead with eating at this busy time in your life and hit the Protein shakes more if you have to to get the amount of protein you need....And remember it can only get better and better ad you travel this journey!

Torn between sleeve and rny. . .anyone been here?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Chaych's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With the sleeve you get some nutritional value out of what you eat...The other not so much..Most of the nutrients are taken in the intestines. The intestines leach all the remaining good from what you eat but it is a limited job.. Dumping is an awful way to lose weight....Can be painful or constant depending on what you eat.... You have to remember that you are doing this to improve your life and your health.....Do it right and use the tool you chose correctly and it will happen for you.... This is not a race, this is lifelong commitment.....When you get to 160 then you can take steps to get the rest off..Don't hurt yourself in the process.... I have both the sleeve and by-pass, So I get some of both problems of each.... Not what I wanted but ended up that way... -
Any one of those things can happen..but everyone is different....I had no time to feel anything really because my husband became a drill Sargent the moment I came out of surgery....He was so concerned about Water intake and every other little detail he had learned about the sleeve..... Mostly your going to be tired and sore at first....A lot of people wish they never did it right away but that almost always changes.....You have done well in losing weight before surgery.. I think you are on board and are going to do great....Positive thinking is the key...K

Can i use sugar in the raw?
RJ'S/beginning replied to alobri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use maple syrup ( the real stuff ) or agave nectar...Both are natural....I notice that I use only a tiny bit of ether one to sweeten my cereal..... Real sugar is a trigger for me to abuse my sleeve..So I try to stay clear! Doesn't always work but I give it a good college try... -
What is your kryptonite and how do you handle it?
RJ'S/beginning replied to mytime2shine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate for sheer comfort that was how I managed all the crap in my life...Pasta was the number one problem for me.... Now I can only eat a little and so I have to really want it to eat it....I buy the tiniest noodles or Pasta I can find and when I do eat it I think I am eating a lot of pasta....It's silly but it works for me.. I can't even begin to tell you about my sugar habits I had....All I know is since I was sleeved cakes pies and Cookies end up in the garbage almost all the time because my hubby can't eat it all....SO I know I was cleaning up the left overs...It is not an accident that I got that big... I can now admit it all because I see things so differently now.......I am dealing with the reasons I ate all the time...I am finally getting there..Slowly but surely!!!! -
I'm scared! Am I making the right decision?!?!
RJ'S/beginning replied to LeahJade's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are only 26! And you are smart enough to know at your young age that things are going to go around and around in circles. the merry-go-round of dieting can have a disastrous effect on the body... You have two options..continue in the path that brought you to this decision or jump in with both feet and end the misery that will come upon you... Down the road your health will suffer in some way and your self esteem will be damaged forever.. People who don't know you will see to that....I wish I had done this years ago and had not gotten so sick that it was the last recourse.... I look at this journey as giving my life back to me...If you have had enough of the abuses to your mind body and soul you will consider this a gift...A life long gift if you use it properly..... I think your really smart to know now you need the help from the sleeve so that you will have a good, healthier and happier life in the future.... I think you are far ahead of some of us who waited until it was the last thing we could do because we tried it all.... All the best...... -
10 months out and I eat rice...just can't eat a lot and I mostly eat mixed wild rice....we are all different you have to try it for yourself to see if you have no problem...Remember though that rice swells in your stomach so don't eat it to the brim of your sleeve!

I suffer from chronic depression..Now after 10 months I cannot sit still...I am on the run constantly...Lately to the point where I forget to eat....oops.... I sleep well though and so am not worried about it at all....Sleep is a key if you are doing that....Things are okay for now.... I have had some dark moments on this journey but I just keep moving now that I can....

4 months out and falling off wagon
RJ'S/beginning replied to mamamareli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is not a diet..This is a life long struggle that we are battling because of addiction to food...That is the plain and simple truth of the matter..some days my sleeve seems to close and I can hardly eat anything..Other days I feel like I could eat the world....I try very hard to make my food interesting and tasty....Different everyday.... One thing I have found that works well for me is to put my fork down after each bit and chew....1/2 way through I put my fork down again and listen to my sleeve...Most of the time at that point I get up and walk away.... There is no perfect sleever out there and I struggle with food addiction every day...What might work for me might not work for others..... You are honest, true and strong just by posting this I know that you want it to change and I think you will probably today.... Each day is a new day and each day is a different set of problems.....I think you are brave for being here and telling us your feelings..... Remember this is a life long change and you will eat things you can't be happy with..You did one of the toughest choices to have the surgery...You will deal with the day to day struggles...just like all the rest of us.. !0 months out I struggle some days more then others...I will admit I am not perfect...Just don't beat yourself up ..K This is a long haul!!!!! -
My feelings got hurt Tonight
RJ'S/beginning replied to beauty29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have thought about this forum since I read it early this morning...I was gob smacked at the ignorance of anyone who would not be a gentlemen in any situation...Trust me his mama did not do her job in raising a boy with poor manners and low self esteem.... When people judge others it is power over the victim that they are looking for and they think it brings themselves up a notch. But in reality....They become lower then a snake in a wheel rut. I am going to borrow a line from Forest Gump..( Beauty is as beauty does! ) He definitely is no beauty! You are well read of that guy trust me! -
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

Protein intake is the catalyst for losing weight! It is the building block that keeps your body working and rejuvenating itself..... But not just protein..You need to consume veggies, fruit and yes even carbs...

I love Arctic Char. It is kinda sweet actually..A soft pink color as well...Look I have a hard time eating Pork and beef...Before surgery ate fish about once every 2 weeks or so..Now all the time..That and poultry...Love it. Any kind will do..... Others mentioned some I like as well..Had Cod last week and ate it cold on sandwiches for 3 days...A little mayo and salt and pepper. Oh and a romaine lettuce leaf..yum!!!!!! -
How did you handle donating your oversized clothes? Did fear of weight regain rear its ugly head?
RJ'S/beginning replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I donated my clothes to the Diabetes Association. When I went into their store I saw all my clothes hanging on hangers...It was the weirdest thing really..But I had a real sense of pride because they no longer fit me and I am sure that others will get use out of them....... As Martha Stewart says.." It's a good thing." -
