RJ'S/beginning replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Listen to your body..It is telling you that you are not ready yet for a full tilt exercise program....Your body is different then mine.....Sleep if you need to it helps heal the body....As you go along your energy will increase along with your activity... Start now to listen and work with your body instead of your mind and go step by step...K -

Sleeve or bypass
RJ'S/beginning replied to rredrruby87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can dump with the sleeve as well...Not as much but you can if you eat something that does not agree with you! The reason I chose the sleeve was because I could still use part of my stomach to get nutrients..Where you have to depend on your intestines to pull as much good from what you eat as it can... Remember your body works so that your stomach acids take most of the value out of what you eat and then disgarded and sent to the intestines where it processes what is left and gets rid of it... We really need to take in all the important nutrients when we have one of these surgeries....We are in a weakened state at first and then because we can eat only a little we need to get the most bang for our buck...I would chose the sleeve over and over again if I had to..... But it is up to you.....All the best in your choice.... -

cold all the time
RJ'S/beginning replied to shondaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is the reason..The extra insulation is gone....i have always slept with the window open summer and winter....Last night I was so cold I got up to put a sweater on and went back to bed.....I don't mind it being this way considering how hot I was all the time when I was fluffier! At least now my hubby and I match as far as temperature control now...It used to be a war!!!! -
That is down right close to OCD guys...lol I only weigh myself every 3 months and most of the time I really don't want to know what the scale says...It is a liar because it does not tell you how many amazing accomplishments you have done or how much you have grown in learning about yourself or the sizes of clothing you have dropped....and many other things that are bound to change as you go forward in this journey...It convinces you that numbers matter and not the journey..... I am so proud that you are kicking it...But eventually your going to have to see how much you have changed and how much your mind is mending toward your love with food.....Congrats on the weight loss...Your doing great by the way!

The last 2 weeks I have changed..or my body has...I now have a tube around my middle and it sticks out father then my stomach and over top of my jeans...I feel so fat and ugly...I keep crying about it...Hubby tried to take an update picture since I am down another 30 lbs. But I said i did not like any of them... My middle is too big...... I can only handle spanx when I go out... And most of the time they don't fit properly and roll down or..never mind I won't give all the details about the problems I am having with Spanx......I feel like I am getting bigger because of how far it sticks out.....

People don't recognize me!
RJ'S/beginning replied to MommyofFive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
last week my husband could not find me in a small market in our area..This has happened over and over again..NO one knows it is me.... I stood beside a friends son at the grocery store and he was always at my home..since he was a child....He did not recognize me at all and then I knew for sure...I have totally changed.... For me, inside and out...The only person who has had no problem with the changes is my grand daughter...She finds me every time when we are out....Children, love em!!! -

Love, love, love the lessons and things you have learned about yourself..The fact that your hubby can eat more is no surprise to me...For some reason that seems to be the norm for most men Thank you for putting your thoughts out there for us all to learn from! -
Is it possible to get All the protein with out supplements?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Albaleon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To do that you have to be very diligent in reading labels. Eating meat or animal products and legumes can put a huge dent in how much Protein you need daily...But now since I read every label as I shop I have found other foods that are high in protein as well...There are seeds and nuts and some crackers and even some types of cracker chips made out of legumes..The possibilities are endless. I only use a shake if I am sick or a Protein Bar if I am on the run...Otherwise it all comes from other sources..Hope this helps! -

My stomach is in a dumpster somewhere
RJ'S/beginning replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach is going to be looked at under a microscope and then when they have decided everything is perfect with the specimen....It will be incinerated......So no animal is going to get it or strangers touching it....It will go to the right place...K..... -

What is the honeymoon period
RJ'S/beginning replied to Hecate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are most likely eating the right amount...We don't want to keep our bodies in distress and have it store fuel because it goes into starvation mode...losing weight slower is not a bad thing....As long as you are eating healthy and enough Protein, taking in Water. The body will respond....Remember this is a life long journey no a sprint! -
Only the second time in 15 years I have even tried to have a cup of coffee...Last night my hubby brewed his special blend and it went down easy and smooth no problem.... SOOOOOOOO I thought mum...I'll try that again...Hubby makes coffee no different then last night and now I am so sick I can hardly stand that pain in my sleeve... Sure I am going to up chuck Guess it will be another 15 years before I drink that swill again....yuk!!!!!!!!

You begin to walk when you feel stronger....No one has to get out of the hospital and start training for a marathon...lol... Walking is the key to get you going forward in exercising.....20 min. 10 min what ever you can handle..a few times a week Personally.....I think the ones who are only eating 500 calories a day should be drinking more Protein drinks....their hair is going to fall out!!!!! And who knows what else......hehehehe -
Your still drinking coffee..But it does help that you drink some tea...

What is the honeymoon period
RJ'S/beginning replied to Hecate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve is there to help you deal with your emotional eating while you are dealing with your head...Once you get the issues solved as to how you got to this place in your life and what you can do to resolve it..Then your body will respond...The sleeve is not a miracle operation...It is a tool for you to use to learn how to eat to live not live to eat or use food for emotional purposes.. Eventually your sleeve heals and relaxes a little...you will never be able to eat like you used to..Unless you really work at it.....Meanwhile we deal with all the things we know made this happen to us and some that creep up on us....It is one of the most interesting journey's I have ever been on... I have learned more about myself then I ever thought possible! You will too! -
