Readyfourchg reacted to tjloser for a blog entry, 6 Mnth progress
It has been 6 months since surgery and I'm doing really good. I have lost 51 #'s so far although I had a pretty long stall. It lasted about a month or so. I didn't worry about it because I knew it would be over and I would start losing again. I am now working on getting more water in as that is hard for me. I am in no rush with this weight loss as I did not put it on overnight and don't expect to lose it overnight. Of course it's coming off faster than it would have do to my tool so I'm happy with where I am at this point. I have started doing strength training and will focus on that for the time being so that I can tighten and tone up. I also want to lift my butt:) since I lost some of it. I'm so happy with my tool and will continue to work it to my advantage.

Readyfourchg got a reaction from erpiedbnuebn for a blog entry, Almost 3 weeks out
    Hello,

On Wednesday 12/19, I will be 3 weeks out and it has been journey, a good one. Let me give you updates:
    Starting Weight: 240
    Current Weight: 223.5
    Weight loss total: 16.5
    Height: 5'8"

I have had a good recovery, no problems and returned to work at Day 6 after surgery. I have a sedentary job, but have been attending a lot of conferences and have been doing a lot of walking. I continue to struggle with how much I can eat and knowing when I am full. I am still trying to figure this part out, but I know that it will come.

    Exercise
    I exercise a minimum of 4 days a week for 30 or 40 minutes.

    Scars
They are healing quite well and are small. I have one in my belly button and 4 others. The drainage spot is the largest scar and is not that big. I am waiting until next week to start mederma. I get majority of my vitamins in, but there are a lot.

    Pain
    None.

    Sex
No real drive and a bit moody (husband not happy).

    Feelings
Head hunger is real. I realize now more than ever how large a part food played in my life. I miss it and there are so many things I want/miss. However, I notice how good it feels to be able to fit in the clothes in my closet and I am overjoyed. I know that in time, I can eat some of those things in, just in smaller quantities. I appreciate not being that hungry and not feeling the need to give up and dig in. It's hard, but worth it.

    More to come next week.

Well, I arrived in Mx this morning and yes still apprehensive to my decision. I had a layover in Las Vegas and thought about just flying back home. So, for those of you having second thoughts...its normal. I am probably on my hundredth.

If you are going to Aceves the driver is great and you meet your fellow sleevers right at the airport. Then off to the boarder about 2 hours. It will seem like you are off course, but I promise you, your on course.

You arrive and Karla or another coordinator will meet you with a smile and the off to the bathroom for urine sampling and then to the lab for blood. As everyone has stated the hotel is clean and the staff nice. Once you finish, Dr. Aceves and Campos will visit with the group to discuss the surgery and answer any and all questions...For those that have read some of my postings lately you can imagine I had a ton of questions and each was answered.

Once that is complete it is time for the chest X-ray and the EKG. Now the EKG machine was a bit old, but efficient. Then, you finish and off to the hotel, which is about 15 minutes from the hospital. Ernesto was our driver and very kind.

Now, I made have made it sound as if all of this took about an hour, but we were there for three hours. Tomorrow we all meet in the lobby and then to the hospital we go to meet with the internist, doctors, and anesthesiologist. Once, we are cleared for surgery then they decide the order and off we go. They said that is should take about 2 -3 hours from the time we go back until we wake up in recovery.

My surprise for the day was the blood thinner shot that you are given prior to surgery in your stomach.

I am on my way to Mexico in the morning to Dr. Aceves. My bags are packed, I have checked, rechecked, and triple checked what I may need. I am scared as the world, but I know that in about a month I will be ecstatic. I have thought about everything the could go wrong and decided to focus on what could go right. I do not have the co-morbidities, but fertility and joint problems. So, I have thought..can't I just do this myself? Then, I remind myself that I have been for the past 30 years and to no avail. I am in disbelief that I am taking such drastic measures. Plus, I am afraid as I lose the weight the comments I will get. Silly, right. Nevertheless, I will keep everyone posted and provide specifics of what they do.

I'm going to attempt to sleep, because I have an early morning and a life changing flight!

It's Monday, and the good news is that it seems that the sharp, debilitating pain I was having on my left side has dissipated. It is now just a sore area that is tolerable. Prayers work!
The bad news, the local surgeon I was going to try to switch over to will not follow up with me. He apparently is not doing sleeves after all. So I am still debating about following up with my original surgeon for the long run. I still think I will try to find another office-I have just really lost all faith in him and his office staff.
But I am SO GRATEFUL to my Lord for touching my body and giving me relief! I think this is how I was supposed to feel at 2 weeks out. I really can't pinpoint when the pain stopped, but I realized on Sunday morning that getting out of the chair did not elicit that terrible stabbing pain. I kept expecting it to grab me all day, but nothing I did made it come....I pray it stays that way!
Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support, hopefully now I can focus on losing weight and rocking my own lil' sleeve!
