As long as you go in eyes wide open knowing what Iggy said could be your story then be thankful you have the right to choose. -
I think that is so.

Kapoorvilla replied to snrussell09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great advise. Adjustment to new lifestyle pre surgery is the way to go. -
Good luck. In no time we will be a year out! I am seven weeks out today!

Slow and Steady not my style
Kapoorvilla replied to gingerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lose weight for 18 months??? That is a wired statement as if we beyond our actions we are bonded to lose for a certian time period then poof magically stop losing. Very odd statement. We can gain and lose forever after sleeve dictated by our own actions. -
I too had a complication, not a leak but a cut bowel. I don't think your Mom wants to make you doubt the surgery. I think she loves you and wants you to consider the real possibility of a complication. I was told only 1% had complication followed by the statement but that is mostly higher BMI patients you will breeze right through , no problems. That was not true. I would say to any one considering surgery you should realize that complications are a real possibility and happen to real people and you just might be one of those people. The bariatrics center you visit makes their living off the surgery so yes they will down play the risk. Some here in effort to defend the sleeve feel the need to downplay the risk. If you go in to this eyes wide open you will be better prepared for complications that may arise. Weigh it out in your own mind are the possibilities of improvement from surgery worth the real possibility of complications. Only you can answer that question but I think you will have a healthier frame of mind to deal with complications if you settle that on this side of surgery.

Thank you. It feels good to hear someone has confidence it will work. To be fair to my husband has said simaliar things but he also worries this is going to be a disappointing out come to me like so many diets before it. Actually what I liked hearing about the sleeve is -this is not a diet but life style changes. It has been years since I cut out fried foods and sugar. Cut way back on processed foods and bread is not been a daily thing for me in a very long time. I was 386 in 2006 and so yes I saw great results from making those lifestyle changes but my body seems to be locked in battle not to go below 250 no matter what! I really hoped the surgery would help me bust through that wall and put me on the way to onederland. -
Thank you!

I know it is but it does not make it any less frustrating. Also I think the folks who know I had surgery and see I am not losing a lot seven weeks later think I am cheating. I know that is more in my head than others but the thought is there driving me crazy.

Thanks for the info I saw your thread and it is all very informative just so frustrating when that scale will not move! I jump through all the hoops and get no reward. I know the family is sick of my obsessing over it so thanks for being there VST! -

I hear all of you and logic say your right. I have read many of the stall and breaking stalls threads but the reason we have so many repeat thread is when it is happening to you, it is just unbelievable and frustrating and there is a need to vent. The calorie in/ calorie out thoughts come from another thread where a moderator said the sleeve is prove of that being true. Righ now I am battling two lines of thought. One says listen to the voices that say 500 to 600 calories and hardly no carbs that will make me lose, then the other say what I am doing 1000 calorie and around 70 carbs makes me feel like I am not even on a diet I have diet so many years that seems doable forever and therefore equals a truer lifestyle change. Then a third line of thought says do the 500-600 and extremely low carb to lose and the 1000 calorie a day healthy foods to maintain. I am leaning toward the third thought at this point. -

I have been in a stall for 35 days no inches and no pounds lost. I just started a thread about it before I saw this. I keep calories under 1000 every day and per my surgeon's order was keepin carbs under 70 but I think I am going to return to the liquids and very low carbs I am sick of this stall. Perhaps I can take it off with liquid and keep it off with restricted eating.
-
I have to say I wish I could agree but this crazy stall I have been in for five weeks is blowing the calories in vs calories burned equation to smithereens!!! I weighed 277 day of surgey 255 on my two week po visit? That is great lost and I was thrilled BUT then every thing stopped. I try to break stall by eatting small amount more often but still never going over 1000 calories, also doing more exercise, more Fluid, always getting Protein. My weight has went up to 261 and down to 254 but no lost like the math of calories input vs calories burned shows there should be in the past five weeks.

Getting the staples removed...
Kapoorvilla replied to lmedalsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have an extra cut down my middle 40 staples in my belly. Was a bit nervous although ready to get them out. Never felt a thang! No worries it will be a breeze. -

HELP! i'm concerned!
Kapoorvilla replied to nicoleco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone has different bowel experiences. I have not been constipated at all. I am 6 and 1/2 weeks out. I tend to still have loose although not uncontroled or rushing to bathroom. Sorry if that is TMI just wanting to say don't worry loose or constipated it all seems to be normal on here. -
A thread for people who dont argue, name call, dictate or generally just be nasty.
Kapoorvilla replied to AussieLady's topic in The Lounge
I think there are two line of thought on VST those who have decided after having this surgery they will never eat another unhealthy food ever and they will become the fitness Queens and Kings. Then there are those who just wanted to stop the ever expanding body and hopefully see loss while having a normal relationship with food. It is like the Dems and Republicans in the USA each side wants it their own way and views the other side as trying to sabatoge and destroy. We even had a conspiracy theory played out when a sister opted about her sisters near death experiance.
