pureed / soft food stage
Kapoorvilla replied to toxtomany's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can basically purée anything you want. Stick to healthy proteins. You have work to hard to purée junk food. -
Sick of sweets! Ugh :-/
Kapoorvilla replied to rswa3319's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to amazon and type in unflavored protein powder. You will find several options. I dissolve it in my tea and coffee. I was the protein shake queen before surgery having a hard time drinking them now at 3 1/2 weeks out. -
I am so glad you called! I hope it is not a hernia and just a pulled something. Bless your heart take it easy and keep us posted.

I don't think the coffee was the turning point Sarah, because my NUT said we just had to give caffeine up for healing after surgery and not forever. I guess it is hard for me to grasp only loosing 30lbs and then gaining that back on what a small about I can now eat. I guess as I can eat more if that were all heavy calories then maybe but it still seems hard to grasp. I am trying to understand your mind set, Did you think you could get by eating bad foods because you could only eat small amounts. Also when you saw the weight stop coming off and then regain start was there attempts to do right or is this your first attemp? I noticed your new did you have support before, during, or after surgery ? Had you been on Here before?

Sarah I continue to check back on this thread because as a newly sleeved person I just can't grasp I risked my life and this could all fail. Please you have already shared so much and for that I thank you but could you please give an example of what you where eatting to cause regain. I really hoped the sleeve would prevent over eatting to some extend so total weight gain would be impossible? Give me an example of a bad day of eatting . Did you feel stuff and ignore that?

What kind of advice do you wish you had in the beginning?

I had to wear those abdomen support and the took two xl and made them one! One last fat insult for the road. Please check with you surgeon's on call personnel. It is just precaution but well worth it for peace of mind.

Two weeks full liquid before surgery. Clear liquids only lasted the day after surgery for me then full liquids for two weeks and now I am on purée for two weeks. Next will be two weeks soft and then I will be back to normal foods.

Left side scares me that it is a leak. Please don't delay in seeking medical advice. Is your heart racing? That is another symptom I have read on here. I don't mean to be an alarmist I just want to be sure you seek help. Praying for the best results!

Boiled egg with light mayo puree to be like deviled egg. Hormel complete meals with no bread or pasta purée nicely, I also brought Ruth's chicken and tuna salads they are already in a puréed state in the tub from store. Refried beans and chili are good. Also frozen meatballs unthawed and purée topped with Alfredo, tomato sauce or whatever you like. I like the meatballs because it is easier than browning ponds of beef at a time if rest of the family is having something else. Most meals the family has could be purée but is it healthy? And how will it appear purée is the catch!

What does you puree diet look like?
Kapoorvilla replied to Kapoorvilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I should also say I find it really hard to finish the 32 oz bottles so I am probably getting more like 55-60 including the coffee which I often do not finish either. -
What does you puree diet look like?
Kapoorvilla posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Plan 8 oz cup decaf coffee Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs purée into deviled egg style (makes a little less than 1/2 cup) Work on a 32 oz Fluid from aboved list (tea, Water, Krystal Light) Lunch: 1/2 cup refried Beans with red sauce and bit of sour cream Work on another 32 oz fluid adding 1/2 scoop unflavored Protein so I am hiting at 60 + grams of protein daily) Afternoon snack: 1/3 cup Ruth's chicken or Tuna salad 8 oz cup decaf coffee Supper: hormel complete meal I purée them (I choose the lowest fat and carb and no Pasta or breads) Logging this on my fitness pal it is 738 calories and the only thing high is fat, I need to get fat free mayo at store when I go. I am not really getting 738 calories because I can't finish the whole hormel at supper. I do 3/4 at best. The refried beans once I finished but other times not quite. I usually can finish the eggs but it takes a while and that is why I have no am snack. I am obeying the 30 min rule I was given. No fluid 30 mins before or after meals. My major complaint is it feels like I spend my whole day trying to get in fluid and food I don't really want. So what is your feedback on my purée diet? -
I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!
Kapoorvilla replied to jasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so glad this thread is here! I relate to it having had my own complicatiion. You said in one of your post that the surgery almost took you from your family, I have really felt some guilt over the fact I chose a surgery that almost took me from my daughter when she needs me most. I also have felt the conflict of being glad I am losing but yet saying if I could go back I would never choose that risk. Sometimes I am angry because my complication was surgeon error (cut bowel) and had that not happened I would not have suffered the pain and the finical nightmare of bills would not loom ahead of me. Yet it was the same surgeon who saved my life that almost ended my life. I do wish he would show a little more remorse but I guess he has to think of his liabilities. He has made several jokes about my bowels I don't find the humor in. When he opened the incesions to drain them and found the small bowel out of place he ask if I wanted to see what it look like. Then on a follow up visit he ask if my bowels where staying in place. I told him I hoped so because that is something I had truly been concerned about. I really do not find the jokes in good taste at all Now seeing how good you are doing a year out makes me hopeful. I weighed 277 on 11/30 was sleeved 12/5 and weigh 256 today. I am on to purée foods. I am still not getting a full 2 cups in a day yet but I make sure I get 60 grams Protein and as close to 64 Fluid as I can so not concerned with small volume. Have a great Holiday thanks for helping me see what some time may do to the situation. -

You look great! Your son is beyond cute! -
This is something I fear as a forever struggle. I am the wife of a deacon in a Baptist church his means I will forever be hosting food fellowships. I do not want to avoid that responsibility I just hope I can for the long term be strong and resist the constant flow of bad for you foods at church.

Hows your weight loss coming along?
Kapoorvilla replied to PoohSoup0803's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow seems I remembered my weight different from what doctor had recorded: on 11/30 he weighed me at 277. I think hospital weighed me at 275 day of surgery 12/4 according to hubby. Today at surgeon office I weighed 259lbs so I have take off 18lbs!!!! Since 11/30. Last year when I started the preop supervise diet I was 310 so I am 51 lbs down in a year. Hope I see 100lb loss this year like many have after surgery! -
Went for my two week post op visit. I am down 20lbs and I was able to have all the stables removed from my extra surgery to repair cut bowel! I could not believe they were 40 of them WOW! Feels good to be further along in recovery and eatting something of substance!

Antibacterial Soap for Pre-Op
Kapoorvilla replied to ArcusX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor gave a bottle with instruction to use it night and morning before surgery. The only thing I dislike was the nurse checking me in said we do not need to scrub you because you have already washed! I was thinking but what have I encountered since leaving my bathroom this am??? I said nothing and it all turn out ok but I would have preferred they rescurbb in the admitting process as well. I am thinking they must have in the OR at least I hope they did!
