    Totally inappropriate question

I'm almost 3 weeks out and my husband keeps offering to give me a protein boost, but so far I haven't taken him up on it. LOL

    Cardio after surgery

My doctor said no cardio for 4 weeks. :-(

    Wedding anniversary.

Go out to eat anyway. Let him order what he wants and you can have soup. It can still be a good day. :-)
  4. I don't have my gallbladder either. I'm a little over 2 weeks out from surgery. I don't have severe pain, but I do get soreness in the area you mentioned. It is usually if I have laid on my side for a while or if I sit in a certain position. Then I feel that soreness for a few minutes. I'm assuming it is torn muscles. I'm glad you feel better. :-)
  5. I dreamed that I died. I saw my dead body but I was thinking "I'm alive!!" and then I was sitting on a couch talking to my mom (she passed away 3 years ago) and she was explaining to me that I had died. I asked her how I could be dead if I still felt alive... but I never got an answer. I am a little over 2 weeks out... I had this dream 2 nights ago.
  6. This is exactly what I was told.
  7. I had a hernia and my doctor did not repair it. He knew it beforehand and said he probably would not repair it. He said that with my weight loss, the hernia will probably shrink in size while I am losing. I have not had any problems at all with the hernia since surgery. Before surgery, I had a LOT of trouble with it. I had problems swallowing everything... but now, everything goes down smoothly. I would have sworn he repaired it, but he said he didn't.

    what have I done?

I felt the "what have I done" feeling for one day in the hospital because I was so nauseated. I discovered it was the pain meds causing the nausea. That feeling goes away pretty quickly. I felt a lot better once I got home... every single day gets better and better. I'm a little over 2 weeks out now, and I feel almost normal again. I say "almost" because I can't eat much of anything and that is not my "normal" but it is my NEW normal... :-)
  9. All normal. I went through all the same things.. except wanting to eat a big meal. I guess mentally I might have wanted to, but physically I didn't want it and knew I couldn't do it. I guess that is head hunger. I had a little of it right after surgery but it went away pretty quickly. But, all the other things you mentioned, yes. At 5 days after surgery, that is all normal. Good news is.. I am a little over 2 weeks out and now I feel back to normal. My incisions are only a tiny bit sore. I can walk normally and my stomach doesn't feel weird when I swallow anymore.

    omg never ever again..

Yeah, I think it might be the rice.. I was told not to attempt rice for a long time. My SIL is over a year out from surgery and she still can't have rice without pain. I hope you feel better really soon.
  11. LOL.. I love it! I'm using a similar spoon myself at 2 weeks out. :-)
  12. I had my c-section 20 years ago and I had my VSG 2 weeks ago. I think the pain during recovery is similar. My c-section wasn't bad. The incision was sore, of course, but not really bad and I bounced back pretty quick. The VSG was similar. The incisions were sore (still are a little, but not bad at all) but I didn't need pain meds after the second day. The fact that I couldn't drink or eat much was different.. that part is hard to get used to but, as far as the pain, it is similar I think.

    So mad!

When I was on liquids pre-op, there was a family gathering at my dad's house. There were a lot of foods I couldn't have, but there were some options that I could enjoy! My brother made chili... tastes like Wendy's chili... I strained it and drank the soup from it.. it was delicious. My dad made chicken soup and I strained it too. My cousin made creamy chicken noodle soup and I strained it too and had some good creamy chicken soup. Maybe you can do something similar?

    Aaaaaagggghhhh! Not Feb 14th!

I don't think that one day will matter. :-D
  15. I don't see how anyone could physically eat a footlong sub immediately after this surgery. I am 10 days post op and can't even finish an ounce of scrambled eggs. There's just nowhere for it to go... it baffles me.
  16. I don't know how they could even want those things at that point. I know I didn't want anything like that.. I was barely sipping my water.

    Need mushi food ideas

This website has some great ideas http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.ca/2007/08/pureed-foods.html
  18. I went out shopping about 3 or 4 days after surgery... I think it is a good idea... just don't touch anything and if you do, use hand sanitizer.
  19. I have Anthem BCBS and there was no supervised diet requirement. :-)
  20. I think I ate all of what I wanted pre-op because I knew it would be a long time before I could enjoy them again and there is no guarantee how our sleeves will respond to certain foods so, I didn't know how long it would be before I could enjoy my favorite foods again... and have the freedom of eating however much I wanted, etc. I was just promoted to pureed foods today and I'm so excited... and glad I took advantage of eating all those yummy foods to my heart's content during the approval stage. LOL

    6wks Postop and obsessed sex

Please believe me when I say.. chatting and flirting and cybersex with other guys is not the answer. I did that during my first marriage.. you start off thinking it won't hurt anything because you don't know the guy.. it's impersonal... but it gets personal real quick... and my marriage ended because of it. So, please don't succumb to that temptation. Sex toys, skype with your hubby... but keep it focused on him. You look great, by the way.
  22. I did the same thing.... I ate everything I wanted and could think of wanting while in the insurance approval stage.... I agree that it's probably not the smartest thing to do, but I didn't gain any weight... and now that I was sleeved a week ago and I'm on full liquids.. haven't had a bite of real food in weeks, I'm glad I had my food funerals. I'd hate to have deprived myself even longer! I say enjoy it while you can.. LOL (Just don't gain lots of weight!)

    How do you sip?!

I was told to drink a 1 oz medicine cup of water every 15 minutes... and to take 3 sips to empty it... so you could practice that now if you want. Just fill that medicine cup up with water and take a small sip, swallow, wait a second or two (I was waiting several seconds right after surgery) then take another small sip... and then another... That's how small the sips need to be right after surgery... but it gets a little better pretty fast... I'm a week out now and I still sip but I don't have to think about it as much as I did at first.
