How Long Does Our Sleeve Take To Heal?
sarah14 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering if at a certain time I can stop being worried about a leak, or is it always a concern? -
I knew that hair loss was a side effect of the surgery, but i truly was not prepared for this. My hair is falling out EVERYWHERE. I really am not sure how I don't have bald patches. I eat my protein everyday and take my vitamins. I also take Biotin each day. How long does this last? Will I lose all my hair? I'm freaking out a bit.

IS IT TRUE AFTER 6 MONTHS
sarah14 replied to stellabug321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 60 lbs. in the first three months, but now it has slowed down. I'm still losing, but much slower. Now that I can eat regular foods, and not only liquids/protein shakes, I believe my body is just adjusting. Just keep making good choices, and it will come off. I don't mind slow, as long as I keep dropping! -
I knew it would happen, but I wasn't expecting this! I might be bald soon!

Sassafras-You put it perfectly! Tumbleweeds of hair! lol Not that I'm glad that you all are losing yours as well, but I am glad to know it isn't just me. I really didn't expect it to be this much. Mine is falling out evenly, so no bald spots, but it is very thin. My husband said he's going to buy stock in Drano! -

My 5 month anniversary will be 1/21. It started falling out about a month ago. I thought, ok, it won't last long, but my hair is getting extremely thin. I guess I'll just keep doing what I know I'm supposed to do. I hope it stops soon! Thanks for the responses. -

Doxie- I'm sorry about your setback. Fortunately, my gallbladder was out before I had my sleeve. I did recover quickly from that surgery. Hopefully, you will too! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. -

Brandywine- I had to be on full liquids until 8 weeks. I start soft foods tomorrow. I'm sooo excited! I only have to do soft foods for one week and then I'm unrestricted. -

Thanks, everyone! I'll ask at my next appt. and see what my surgeon says. I'm coming up on 8 weeks tomorrow, and go to soft foods. Woot woot! I'm a nervous nellie, so I was curious if I could still have a leak at this point. -
My gums bleed when I brush my teeth. I'm a little over 6 weeks post op. I'm curious to hear what your doc says.

My Suggestion-Stop The Obsessing. Rules Are Meant To Be Broken
sarah14 replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are absolutely right. I've tried every diet you mentioned and failed. If you tell me I CAN'T have it, I want it more! I'm struggling again through this full liquid for 6 weeks phase. Tonight I might have one pretzel. -
This Is Going A Little Too Well!
sarah14 replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I'm tolerating food well, and usually measure everything out. I'm so paranoid. I had soup at lunch and may have eaten over a 1/2 cup. I was at a restaurant and didn't want to break out a measuring cup in front of all my co workers! I was full, but not in pain or close to puking. I read things on here(where I got the split the sleeve info) and appreciate the support, but sometimes it makes me more nervous than I need to be. -

Neilsleeve- May I ask what your doctor told you regarding the myths? I am 6 weeks post op and still on full liquids. I've heard things like I could split my sleeve if I move to soft foods too quickly. I see you are eating unrestricted. I'm curious to hear your docs take on things. -
Didnt Think I Would Feel So Hungry!
sarah14 replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungry too! I've heard from a number of people that it is normal. I am yet to have an issue with acid reflux, so I know that wasn't it. It got much better after I got to start full liquids. Are you to that stage yet? The blended soups really fill me up. Hang in there. The first 2 weeks are the hardest! -
Weird Pain..has Anyone Else Experienced This?
sarah14 replied to sarah14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, everyone! I just need some reassurance sometimes. I'm trying not to run to the hospital with every ache and pain, but don't want to ignore something that might be serious. I love the support and advice I get from you all! -
Weird Pain..has Anyone Else Experienced This?
sarah14 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me start by saying I have had zero incision or internal pain since coming home from the hospital. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and starting getting a pain near my stomach last night. The pain is right where my stomach is, but my stomach doesn't hurt, if that makes sense. It feels like an internal ache. It hurts when I cough or move a certain way. I called the doctor and he said if I wasn't feeling sick, fever, or short of breath to just keep an eye on it. Is this normal? Does anyone else have achy pains like this? -
Eating Quickly W No Side Effects
sarah14 replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was sleeved on 8/21, and I can eat and drink quickly as well. I can eat 8 oz. of broth in about 15 minutes without any problems. I moved to full liquids today and had 1/2 cup of blended cream soup in about 10 minutes...no issues. I did ask my surgeon, as I can drink as I did before surgery, and he said if it wasn't hurting me then it was fine. I'd be curious to hear what your doc says! -
I've seen in a few posts about a website that has good bariatric recipes/menus, but I can't seem to find it now. Can someone tell me what it was? I want to say it had something about "egg" in it? Thanks! I think I get to go to purees tomorrow and am so excited!!
-
I was sleeved on 8/21. My post op appt. was today, so I thought I got to go to full liquid/puree, but I was told I have to stay on liquids for a bit longer. I cried really hard when I left the office! lol I'm so sick of protein drinks and would KILL for some food! I too am a SF popsicle maniac! They are the only thing keeping me going.

Website For Bariatric Menus?

Thank you!! -
Hi all! My name is Sarah and this is my first post. I've been reading forums for months, and need to thank you all for support you didn't even know you were giving! Reading about all of your experiences helped me decide to get the sleeve. I'm one week out as of today and am down 17 lbs. since starting my pre-diet. I have a couple questions I was hoping you all could help on. My doctor has me on chewable Celebrate Vitamins. The Calcium(which I have to take 3 times a day) literally make me nearly vomit. I have a horrible time keeping them down. Has anyone else experienced this, or possibly know a solution? Also, I'm starving! I know they say you shouldn't be, but my stomach growls...I believe I am truly hungry! Anyone else have this happen? I'm still on liquids as a FYI. I'm excited about this blessed opportunity, but am fearful I am going to be hungry through the whole thing!! Anxiety has set in.

I'm starving as well. My surgery was on 8/21. I'm hoping that once I can start on full liquids it will get better. I have my follow up appt. with my doc tomorrow. I did find that eating SF popsicles helps for some reason. Maybe the fact that I get to chew them up tricks my brain, but I feel more satisfied after one of those. I was having panic attacks about this yesterday. I got fat because I always felt hungry, and am terrified that that feeling won't go away!

Sleeved On 8/21..questions
sarah14 replied to sarah14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, everyone! I am on something for acid. I see my doctor tomorrow to get this horrible drain tube out, and hopefully he will have some other options for me.
