How Do You Make The Time Go By?
ashley624 replied to ashley624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I submitted to insurance on8/24 and had my approval by 8/29. So it's not even about waiting for that. My date just seems like years away. I'm trying to calm down on my eating because i feel like i've gained weight since my consult and i would rather lose. i'm going to therapy to try to get myself fully prepared for this journey, but getting to my goal seems like forever. -
I have United Healthcare and I'm just waiting for the date. I was approved on August 29th, and my scheduled date is 11/15 because I had to wait to have a big enough break to get it done. I'm anxiously waiting for the date to come.

Glad you got approved and hope the new hospital will take you on! Don't give up you know the end result will be worth it!
-
I have united health care choice plus. I don't have a copayment for surgery I just know I have an 80/20 with the coverage or whatever you call it.
-
Just caught your post now...but I would love to connect too. I hope everything goes good with your insurance too! When did you do the seminar with the doctors?

I'm APPROVED!!!!!!!!! I am so happy. All it took was 3 days. I wasn't sure if I was going to get it because I did not have a BMI of 40 for 5 years, which my insurance required, but I gave them what I had and more and they approved me! Happy Dance!

I just got my approval from them in the end I july. I needed a five year weight history of having a bmi of 40. I didn't but I sent them the five years, a letter from my docotor with all my weight loss attempts, 2 comirbidties, and a letter from my therapist. They approved me in 3 buisness days.

I know after you have gastric sleeve surgery you have to take Vitamins for the rest of your life. I'm fine with that, I take a daily Vitamin now, but I cannot stomach a chewable vitamin. Right now I take a gummie vitamin because chewable ones just make me gag from the taste. Does anyone else have this problem. What do you do?

I have been seeing a lot of posts saying bring gas x strips to the hospital. Is this allowed in all hospitals?

Worried About Chewable Vitamins
ashley624 replied to ashley624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i hope gummies are alright. Even a liquid I might be able to handle, but the taste of Vitamin just makes me gag. I have a really sensitive gag reflex and it gets set off by a lot, and even chewing those Vitamins make me wanna throw up. My doctor said many of times people have a hard time getting down a regular vitamin because of how big they are so he suggests chewable's. -
Hey everyone! I am so glad to have some new buddies, that we can all help each other through this new journey we will be set on! @mysunflower...what a coincidence that we are both having surgery on the same day! I'm glad because we really will probably be on the same parts of our diet at the same time so we can help each other get through it if we need to. @angeleyes... advanced laproscopics of nj really is a great office, but there self pay is pretty nuts, I have a friend who has a date set in January with them and to speed it up, she asked how much for self-pay and they estimated her around 35 I think which is crazy. @dobrien...I wish you the best of luck with your post-op! Where did you have the surgery? I live in Bergen Co.

I'm looking for some support too! I'm 24 a college student from NJ and getting sleeved on 11/15. If anyone is looking for someone to talk to add me!

Waiting For Approval What Do You Think Of My Chance?
ashley624 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
I just got all my paper work into United Healthcare Choice Plus. My requirements were 5 year weight history and letter of failed attempts. For my five yeat weight history I was 235, 215, 215, 235, 250 from 2008-2012. I also am pre-diabetic, have asthma, polycystic ovary syndrome and social anxiety because of my weight. I provided the insuracnce with a letter from my pcp and my therapist. My doctor wrote down several diets I tried and also gym attempts. My BMI has always been above 35, but not 40. This year it really shot up. My insurance coordiantor said that she thinks it will more likely be approvaed with my 2 comorbidites, then without but I am scared they are not going to approve me at all. What do you think? How long did they take to approve or deny you?- 15 replies

Getting Sleeve At 250 Pnds
ashley624 replied to Joy75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First and foremost let me tell you not to let anyone tell you what to do or not do. This decison should all be based on what you feel most comfortable with. With that being said, I am 24 years old, about the same weight as you, and have been dieting since I was in grammar school. I have lost weight and gained back much more reach time I diet. Personally I have a horrible time even trying to lose weight. I know this is the only sultion for me. Never feel like you are too young to get the surgery. If it's what you feel is best for yourself then do it. You have 6 months to choose, so give it some time. Theres no need to jump into something you're not sure about and this surgery isn't moving anywhere. -

Waiting For Approval What Do You Think Of My Chance?
ashley624 replied to ashley624's topic in Insurance & Financing
At first the only 2 comorb's I had were pycos and pre-diabetes, and the anxiety issue. My insurcance coordinator asked me if I had anything else I could send and after going through insurance records I realized when I was sick at one point and they perscribed me an inhaler, it was for asthma. She said that was one of the things I needed so I hope so! I tried to provide as much extra information as I could so I had a better chance.
